very cool old piece of history. I think the best line in the whole presentation of the jeep was when Elana said "they don't even know what they owe this Jeep." Thank You for saying that Elana, how very true.

I was looking at this exact jeep! And then it got sold and I got sad. The man replied with "Nuts!" Haha. Nice to see it where it'll be taken care for.

I had so much fun with mine in 1982. It had a 225 V-6 and power steering unit from a '67 Buick Skylark with 11.5" wide Wrangler RT tires. I've been driving an '04 Rubicon for almost 14 years now.😉😁😁😁. I'd trade my Rubicon for one of these in a heartbeat. The original 4X4 that changed history. 🙏♥️✌️💪👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Fantastic acquisition. My wife is an historian who worked on “Band of Brothers”. If you haven’t watched the HBO series, it’s a must. If you were to do personalized plates, I suggest going with “NUTS”. This was the response then Major General McAuliffe gave to the Germans when they demanded he surrender his troops at Bastogne. He was a 2-star at the time, hence the red placard with 2 stars. He ended up retiring as a full, 4-star, General. He passed away in the 70’s.

Amazing series! Love the NUTS idea. Great story. I have a Band of Brothers book signed by three of the actual soldiers who fought in the 101st.

My father, a forest officer in India had such a Jeep from,1958 to 1961. I, then aged 12, too drove it without father's knowledge in our bungalow. I am an admirer of WW II Jeeps. Enjoyed watching your video.

I’m retired military (did half my career in the Army and retired from the USAF), and I would love one of these. I grew up around WWII veterans who served in Europe and the Pacific and have ultimate respect for old equipment like this and the role it played in securing democracy. If you hear of anyone parting with one, I’d love to hear about it. I belong to several veterans organizations and would have a lot of fun driving one in parades and such. 👍🏼

I live about 25 minutes from the original Bantam Jeep factory in Butler Pa. I believe Bantam got to build the trailers as a kind of consolation prize

Good video. Respectfully the Bantam had a great engine. The continental industrial 4 cylinder. The willys had more power so it won out. Durability wise it's hard to beat a continental

I'm a samurai fan but I must say, these were a great design. I love the fact the front axle sits ahead of the hood for approach angle. Congratulations on the purchase. Nice😁

I've got a Sammy as well. But previously owned a 43 gpw. And in my experience the Sammy will do anything that the gpw or Willis would do. And go faster LOL. That being said I would love to have my gpw back. Had to settle for a 64 Kaiser

Willie's did not have tool boxes. Also dots on the foot pedals are unique to gpw as well as the headlights

What’s the thing at the base of the windshield? A rifle mount maybe? That horn looks almost as big as the engine 😂

    Best jeep ever built

  • @iancooper9278

The reason Ford stamped all the parts with "F" is due to him being upset with the US general in charge of all Jeep production. Willys had the prime contract and Ford was given a second contract to increase production. Henry didn't like this, and insisted that Ford build all the US and allied Jeeps. The general in charge was not about to be pushed around, and told Ford he was the secondary builder. As a result, Henry had all the parts on Ford built Jeeps stamped with an "F". Later during the war, when Jeeps were being rebuilt, you could have a combination of Willys and Ford parts on the same vehicle. This sorta allows a collector to do a restoration using both manufacturers parts.
