Thank you! I have watched a lot of tutorials but yours are definitely I love the most. I just finished the 6 to 12 months from your mermaid tail tutorial. 💖👌🏻 🙇🏻♀️
hi lovingly, I see that most of the comments are 4 & 5 months old, Do you happen to have this pattern written down now?? My brain works better with hands on, & visual together. thank you for the video, you are pretty amazing in creating patterns. Hope you can help with the written pattern. Thanx
I like this video alot. Very easy to follow. Maybe use different colored font at the bottom when putting what the pattern (Like black) it would be alot easier for some to see
Thanks for watching and comment. Yes, I will definitely use darker color font next time. I do noticed it kind of hard to read because my background is white too.
6-12 mos, instead of 5dc shell, try 6 dc shell and 4.5mm hook. Half way of the tail, change hook to 5mm. Length should be around 20 inches (without fin).
When you start the second round of shells, you slip stitch 2 times to the middle stitch then did a sc. So if I do 6dc shells, would I still slip stitch 2 times then do sc?
Hi, might be a little late to comment. But a good way to increase size is to kinda follow the pattern before the shells. So after row 8 you would do 8dc and then 2dc in one St for row 9. And then row 10 you would do 8dc and 2dc in next stich. So just repeat this to increase width and then do more rows of shells to increase height.
Hi I want to make one for my tall 11 year old granddaughter but the stitch looks very different then this one as the adult pattern. I like this one better what is the difference? Kris
I'm having an issue on round 2... Is it slip stitch into 1st DBC, CHAIN 2, 1DC, THEN 2 DC IN 2ND STS.... WHAT AM I REPEATING 1DC THEN 2 DC OR 1 DC ALL AROUND UNTIL I GET TO THE 3RD ROUND
My friend just revealed that she's having a baby (She doesn't know the gender yet.), and she LOVES mermaids, so I'm going to make matching tails for both her and the baby. Also, great video. Keep up the good work. :3 😊👍💖🦄 Edit: Thanks for the heart.
How can I do this for a 9-year old? I thought more rounds and larger hook. I have done 3 of these so far but for a baby. Thanks! I will be using a worsted weight yarn.
I am getting completely frustrated. I am a complete beginner with the names of the stitches, and I keep messing up. I can’t even get past the first row. I can get to the slip knot, but can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong by the time I think I’m done with the second row. It keeps turning in like a bowl for me. I just want to get this right for for niece who’s due next month. Any advice on how I’m getting this wrong? Update- after a day of relaxing away from it, I started again today, and have gotten it now.
it is going to turn into a bowl at first as it gets bigger it will widen. on a double crochet you yarn over go into the stitch pull through yarn over pull through 2 loops yarn over pull through 2 you should be making 1 more double crochet on each round before the increase
So I am new to the crocheting world...I started this project and I have made it to row 14 ish, and lost the placement of my pin. I don't know when to end or begin. Do you know how I can find it.
Hi Lovingly Nie could you please tell me if this cocoon is the one that goes all the way to the babies shoulders like a sleeping bag, and also do you have a hat that goes with it? Thanks heaps :)
Hi, this is not a cocoon, it's from the waist down. But probably it can turn to be a cocoon for newborn. This overall about 14" in length (not include fin)
@@LovinglyNieHello, thank you for the cute pattern. I’m using a smaller hook, hoping it will be suitable for a newborn. How long would you suggest making it for a new baby?
LovinglyNie Ya your right, Thank you so much for the advice and for your time, Maybe can you make a video showing how to do it with embroidery? thanks a bunch. No worry's if you can't 👍😊
I have always wanted to make a mermaid tail. I started it with this video but I'm 8 rows in and mine is laying flat and not like a bowl??? Anyone know what I'm doing wrong???
LovinglyNie I loved the video and it was so easy to follow as I am still very new to crocheting. I made the tail for my newborn niece and her parents absolutely loved it
+LovinglyNie yes I did do the 12 DC at the first round. then I chain 2, 1 DC in the first stitch next to chain 2, 2 DC in 2nd stitch* repeat 6x.(18sts) I wrote it down in a way that I could better understand but I'm still following the pattern you are gave. then round 3...Chain 2, * 1 DC in next 2 STS, 2 DC in 3rd st. repeat 6x (24 STS) but it still doesn't seem to be going all the way around for me. basically what I'm doing is doing each stitch 6 times. idk if im doing something wrong?
+LovinglyNie I think I know what I'm doing wrong. I'm going to try again. I was counting each stitch as 1 and so forth instead of doing everything between the *s and then counting that as 1 lol. of that makes sense.
Hi, I'm actually in the mid of making mermaid tail for 2-4 yo. It's basically almost the same but instead of making 5dc shell sts, I make 6 dc shell. Half way of the mermaid tail, I'll make 7 dc shell and switch hook to 4.5mm. length about 28 inches. that video probably will be up in 4 days (hopefully)
Michico Garcia lol. I just started to make this one for my 5 year old... hoping I could just make it longer... it's coming together quite well actually. If I would have known she was making a video for a 4yo i probably would have waited. Ugg
Thank you! I have watched a lot of tutorials but yours are definitely I love the most. I just finished the 6 to 12 months from your mermaid tail tutorial. 💖👌🏻 🙇🏻♀️
This is an awesome view for a tutorial, you can see clearly where she is putting the hook! Thanks!!!
i cant see half of where shes putting the hook cuz shes holding her thumb on the part im having trouble with
I really enjoyed making this! You're directions were so clear!
Great tutorial! Thank you, I’m making mine into a purse!

I love this video I made one for my granddaughter and it came out gorgeous everyone loves it thank you so much for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for the tutorial, easy to follow and I like your technique.

I just finished this pattern and I love it!!!
Is this a total of 13 do inside The circle. For some reason, it is just not adding up for me.
13 inches from round 1 till last round. You can make it longer if you want to.
You don’t count the chain 2 as a stitch
I love this pattern! if I want to make the tail for a larger baby, What is the adjustment to follow the same pattern?
catalina nuno may I know what size? 6-12 months?
LovinglyNie yes, that size is good
6-12 mos, instead of 5dc shell, try 6 dc shell and 4.5mm hook. Half way of the tail, change hook to 5mm. Length should be around 20 inches (without fin).
I used 5m crochet hook and mine measures 12 inch following the video . 21 row if shell stitch plus the beginning rows . ???? Its tiny
When you start the second round of shells, you slip stitch 2 times to the middle stitch then did a sc. So if I do 6dc shells, would I still slip stitch 2 times then do sc?
yes, slip 2 sts
Do you have a written out pattern?
I don't have written pattern. I still looking for ways on how to explain it in good english grammer (English is not my first language).
You sound great!
LovinglyNie Your English is very good and i like how you show up close what to do to follow along.
Awesome pattern! Can you tell me what the circumference should be? Mine is coming out much smaller.
Hi Holly, the circumference is 13.5 inches but it can stretch up till 15.5 inches
It was very easy to follow along I love it thank you 😊

Did I miss the yarn weight, size and color as well as the size crochet needle needed? Please help.
I showed the hook and yarn I used at 0:35 second. Ice yarn magic light yarn and size 4.25 hook.
This is classifed as a 2 on their website. Reasonably priced but have to buy 3 skeins of a color.
I feel like the tail i am making is too small to fit a baby. What should be the width of the tail? And what should I do to make it bigger?
natilittlelikesakura hi, sorry for late reply.. you could use bigger crochet hook or thicker yarn.
What size or age will this fit.making it for a baby who is 7 months old.will this pattern fit her?
This is for baby 0-3 months old. I do have mermaid tutorial for baby 6-12 months. Do check out on my crochet playlist.
How would you recommend changing the pattern for slightly bigger, 3-6 months? Thank you
Hi, maybe you could use slightly bigger crochet hook. Size 5.00 mm maybe?
That's what I'm doing and it seems to increase the size just a bit. You can also try a weight 5 yarn instead of 4.
Hi, might be a little late to comment. But a good way to increase size is to kinda follow the pattern before the shells. So after row 8 you would do 8dc and then 2dc in one St for row 9. How many skeins of yarn did you use ?
1 skein only
How many yards / meters ?
Hi I want to make one for my tall 11 year old granddaughter but the stitch looks very different then this one as the adult pattern. I like this one better what is the difference? Kris
Hi Kris. This is a regular shell stitch and the adult mermaid tail is called box shell stitch
How long did it take you to finish?
WoW!!! love your colors!!! never seen this yarn before...what is it called plz n ty??? and where can we buy it??...i'm in Canada
Is it 13 inches of shell stitches or 13 from tail up
13 inches from round 1.
on round 2 of the shells i cant see where the hook is going into the sc
I'm having an issue on round 2...

Samantha Bolduc hi, if you can find the 2 slip stitch that's mean you are somewhere near the chain 1 where you started.
I found my way... I'm not going to loose that pin again! Thank you
Hi Lovingly Nie could you please tell me if this cocoon is the one that goes all the way to the babies shoulders like a sleeping bag, and also do you have a hat that goes with it?

Love this. Do u have a sizes that are bigger
hi Chris, I do have video for bigger size. Check out my crochet playlist
For 6-9 month, you said to do 6dc shell instead of 5. For the next round, which DC would I start?
Shanticia Harris start 6dc shell at round 9 and length about 21". Sorry I don't really get what you mean by which dc would you start.
LovinglyNie- for a mermaid tail for a 6-9 month, would the fin size increase? If so, what would the modifications be?
Hi, how many inches for the length?
Hi Jenny. Just continue the shell pattern until you get the length that you want.
I love this pattern!! Is it ok to sell the mermaid tail I make?
Yes you may..
How many shells are on each row?
Are there 9 shells on each row?
9 shells
How much yarn does the whole thing use please x
I only used 1 skein of 100 gram yarn.
@@LovinglyNie fab, thankyou for your reply! Love your tutorials x
what crochet hook I would to make for a 6-9 and 9-12?
Hi, for 6-9mos I would use same hook (4.25mm) but instead of 5 dc shell, I'll make 6 dc shell. 9-12 mos, 6 dc shell and 4.5mm hook.
Are there 9 shells on each row?
Hi Raul. Sorry late reply, I just came back from family vacation. Yes, total of 9 shells per round.
This is really pretty. How would make this for a older child like eight or nine. Thank you for your tutorial. ❤👍🙂
Hi there, Sorry late reply, just came back from family vacay. I don't have petter for 8-9 yo yet.
So Amazing! i love the colours you've chosen. Do you think i can make this with embroidery floss/thread? Hope you Reply soon!❤️
Hi.. Yes I think you can but perhaps you need to double it maybe because I think embroidery thread are thinner than light weight #3 yarn.
LovinglyNie Ya your right, Thank you so much for the advice and for your time, Maybe can you make a video showing how to do it with embroidery? thanks a bunch. No worry's if you can't 👍😊

also it says repeat 6x. doing it 6x does not go all the way around...am I doing it wrong??
did you make 12 dc at the first round? if you did 12, you should be able to make all the way round by doing 6x
