    This is the best tutorial I have seen. This lady is very good at describing and showing the pattern. I also like that the pattern is closed at the bottom instead of having to work in a lot of ends

    Thank you so much for this video. Popcorn & bobble stitches were never my friend in crocheting & I have shied away from them for 48 years. But thanks to you Jodi I finally got the popcorn stitch down & can't wait to see my "I Love You to the Moon and Back" blanket all done. Felling accomplished now!

    I love this tutorial! Easy to follow and simple instructions! I also love how textured the tail is. Took about 5-6 hours to complete. Instead of chunky yarn I used 2 strands worsted weight. It came out perfect using all other instructions and suggested crochet hook. Thank you! Love this pattern!

    For those of you who are asking about an adult size mermaid blanket, I have started mine with chaining 30 for the base and it runs on the larger size. I would recommend starting with chain 25 or even 22.

      it is a lovely blanket, I'm using the original video to make mine though by Ahuyama Crochet with English subtitles!! so easy to make even for beginners, ! tip for you though use chunky wool rather than super chunky like I have, I'm ending up with a thicker blanket because I used the wrong wool but still lovely :D

    • @shoe9copy
      @shoe9copy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Marysia Roguska I used the extra chunky wool, needed 12 balls instead of 6! Lol

    • @marysiaroguska670

      Julie Butler I ended up using 10 balls and the blanket doesn't quite look the same! My next one will be made using chunky rather than super chunky x

As a beginner, following a pattern can be extremely difficult. Thanks.

      +Rubylee Barajas extra chunky wool. I'm in the UK. NEEDED 12 balls, so, maybe chunky is better, you should need less than me.

      +Julie Butler At 4:05 I can't find the 3 chains that we made to put the slip stitch in. What do I do?

    • @shoe9copy
      @shoe9copy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jenny Atwall if you did three chains to start a new row, they should be at the end of the row you have just done. If you don't see them, pull out the last row you did and do the three chains again, put a marker (spare piece of wool) after the three chains so you can see clearly where they are. Hope this helps if not let me know I'll try and help you further. 😀

    Thank you so much for this tutorial!! Everyone was asking me to make these and I thought it would be too complicated. Your video was perfect!!! I use two colors (one solid and one variegated) to make some unique color combos, and I use a L hook. I added 6 rows of sc at the top to give it a finished edge and something to pull it up by so the stitches don't get stretched. They look fantastic! I've finished 10 in just two weeks! All the young ladies in my family have received them from me as gifts and are thrilled!! This is awesome! Thanks so much for a wonderful step-by-step tutorial that is SO easy to follow!

    Crochet Lovers, Love your easy to follow tutorial! I am working on my 4th and 5th blankets now (I had to stop on the 4th to start the 5th for an upcoming 1st birthday!). These blankets are a big hit with my nieces! We even did a 'photo shoot' by a pool with my nieces and daughter wearing their blankets! I added a scalloped top to make it look like sea shells for a finish. Wish I could include a pic to show you! Thanks again!

    I'm making this right now. didn't have any luck with chunky yarn so I'm just using 8 ply. From the start I added extra to compensate. I chained 30+3 instead of 15+3. then I added about 6 extra rows while doing the increase. Then 26 rows after the increase. Now I'm beginning to start the opening part and will just go until it's the length I need. Haven't started the tail yet but I will work it out when I get there. I'm guessing if I just double it from the chain at the beginning, it should work. :) great tutorial though!

    I have made 2 of these both adults one in red and white soft yarn and one in blue and white red heart yarn and I lined the blue one in fur, my granddaughters love them , now I am going to make a adult sized one with bernat bulky yarn and turn it into a shark, I will post pictures if all 3 when I get the last one done, thank you so much for making these step by step videos, I could not catch on to the patterns, watching someone do it is better for me, before seeing your videos all I could crochet was a line, again thank you so much :)

    Lovely mermaid tail. And great tutorial.
    Question: How many yards/meters of yarn were they in each ball you used? As most 100g balls of yarn have different amounts of yardage. Want to make sure I get enough. Thank you.

    I am currently half way through making this blanket, I however purchased
    super chunky wool and need double the amount to complete!!! just means I
    will end up with a thicker blanket, next time I will purchase chunky
    wool.
    I am a beginner to crochet and it was the mermaid tail blanket that
    inspired me to start again, this tutorial has really helped me a lot and
    I am now nearing to completing my goal of finishing the blanket :) I made it from the original video by Ahuyama Crochet with English subtitles!!! this video has been edited to give instructions in English, to be honest I found having subtitles easier as it forced me to concentrate

    • @michellefrausto5478

      I used Red Heart Super Saver and I used an 8mm crochet hook. They came out smaller so that is why I gave them to my granddaughters. I would use a chunkier yarn and use the 10mm for adult size. It was very easy and once you get going you can see how to adjust for size. Good Luck!

    Thank you, I am making this for my 9 year old daughter and found the tutorial easy to follow, but so far it has taken 16 100g balls of chunky wool & I'm using a 10mm crochet hook. Not sure why it has taken so much wool. The tail alone took 3 balls to make using the exact pattern/instructions on the video! But I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end :)

    This is a great video. Great instructions. I am working on one now but it is for an adult. I noticed that the base of the blanket is rather short so I have decided to do more of the increase rounds and the non increase rounds until i get it up to at least the knee maybe further and then start with the open back. I love to crochet and this is the cutest blanket!!

  • @whodatz7028
    @whodatz7028 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Made a blanket using these steps (adding extra stitches because I had a thinner yarn) but instead of a mermaid, I made it a whale. Used a H hook, 1 Caron 1 pound skein, and 1 red heart skein for an adult size. Turned out amazing! Definitely making more for my cousins. This video was super easy and helpful to use for technique, but I made my own size as I went ;)
