    I got more than 100k views, more than 2k subs and hit monetization threshold over this past week! This is because I tried new ideas and it just clicked with the algorithm! When we are small we should try everything till one clicks then we do it over and over again. Goodluck to everyone! 🙏🏾😊💙

    With attention spans getting shorter and shorter, it's getting harder to make a video that'll have a high retention rate and therefore will get promoted by the algorithm.

      I think there are different audiences with different attention spans. Some podcasts regularly get a lot of watch time because the target audience are fascinated by the subject or the person. Then you have meme style videos who want something quick and funny. As creators, we need to find the right balance which hits the sweet spot for our audience. That’s much easier said than done though! Over time, you’ll find out what works best for you and your audience.

      Maybe if you push NWO shill content which the YT algos favor, yes it will get better. But if you have any sort of truther material that goes against the Beast system agenda that YT deliberately pushes, then YT algos will suppress your channel forever.
      And a VP of Google/YT even admitted that on record to US congress several years ago.
      Ergo, the statement in the OP is not true, and neither is the premise of this entire video, which doesn't even discuss the 100% true point that I've just stated.

    I'm pleased with my progress so far, and even the pace I'm growing at. It's not super-fast, but it's steady. And I have in fact had a couple of videos do big numbers. What I'm really struggling with is building a tribe; a community. People complement my videos, cooks and even my on-screen personality all the time. And I do see regulars come back.
    But overall most of my views still come from first time visitors, and I still can't get much actual conversation going on in the community tab. They'll click on a poll but they'll seldom actually talk to me or answer a question. I don't know what I need to do to fix that and still be authentic and true to who I am as a person and the kind of videos I like doing. I don't see anything from the top channels in my niche that is dramatically different from one to the next.
    I guess people just fall in love with the personality. Malcom Reed is one of the top creators in the space but he isn't doing anything dramatically different. In fact they're all pretty-much the same. He's just a big lovable teddy-bear of a guy. It's kinda like "the more popular you are, the more popular you are", lol! Anyway, I'll keep pushing and reading and watching videos and trying to grow my knowledge. But I think this thing is more about staying the course than anything.

    If I'm being completely honest, I do tend to click on videos with higher view counts because that means there are more people that have interacted with and pushed the video into the algorithm, which GENERALLY means the video is good. It does still have to have an appealing title and thumbnail though.

    I’ve been making long form content for over a year now. I think I’ve found a good strategy for me. I focus on making shorts content first and then using my shorts to make into long-form content. It does matter how long your long-form content is. After tiktok became huge I feel like everyone’s attention spans are rapidly declining. I’ve been gaining a lot of subscribers from shorts as well. Paired with the gain in subscribers from shorts and watch hours from long form and live streams I think it’s a great way to grow your channel

    Does TH-cam penalize your videos based upon if you upload a video that doesn't get many views? Is it related or just a coincidence? Also keep up the amazing work!!!!

  • @AmandaMarieBrinkley

    Viewers always get to see the title and the thumbnail and the length of the video, and how many views the video has gotten, and sometimes it really influences the viewer to choose MrBeast & bigger creators OVER smaller creators, especially when the better thumbnails are the right there in front of viewers faces

    • @AmandaMarieBrinkley
      @AmandaMarieBrinkley ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be nice if we could actually edit our old videos within the TH-cam APP to be better videos to make them current again because a lot of us we’re just minor things in the videos, but TH-cam won’t let us do repetitive content even though it constantly shows US repetitive content of other creators. the algorithm always takes me back to NBA basketball podcasts. And I would just like a better mix of more interesting people coming into my feed how Instagram provides. so the TikTok algorithm is awesome and Instagram is more personable. TikTok has a wider wider wider wider wider audience as the second biggest search engine in the world. On TH-cam, we have to be very careful to teach English in English as American creators who know English very very carefully. English is hard to understand and Americans use a lot a lot a lot of sarcasm. Intellectuals USE satire all the time. bullshit detecting is required by all Americans who want to change America for the better. I am a WORDY person in these comment boxes and editing comments within this tiny little five line comment box does not help me adjust my paragraphs long comments at all! @youtube
      oh, I also look at how recently something was posted… I always want fresh videos and CONTENT creators who are creating a lot of content. It would be NICE IF ONLY TH-cam DECIDED TO be nicer to It’s creators who ARE or were working class or recently. We need everyone to have an elevated living in financial situation. UBI! Well for the working class anyway. In America and around the world.

    I don't know if the algorithm is that unforgiving. I created my channel in 2016 and published nothing, had a try during the pandemic and chickened out, but got serious about it one month and a half ago. I was sure no one will ever watch my content. Instead, somebody did. Of course I'm a million miles away from monetization and all that stuff, but I'm still amazed SOMEONE wanted to watch it. Probably it's vidIQ merit, I'm learning a lot from you. I'm trying to get better with time and experience, and I'm thinking about that niche. I love games and RPGs in particular, and I'm not seeing a lot of content creators playing cRPGs, or being a gamer that don't yell a lot, or swear a lot, or throw silly tantrums. We'll see. Thank you for the knowledge you're putting out here, vidIQ.

    If TH-cam could hide how many views a video gets to the audience, I think even would have a good fighting chance, but TH-cam won't do that because it could ruin some of their bigger creators because they might be over looked. I tell you now even as a youtuber, I will check out a video that is more popular/more views than one that doesn't. It's like the old FOMO feeling "Am I missing out on something" "This video must be better quality than the one that only has 10 view" it's how we been taught to think.

    Very interesting stuff on this channel! Now to see if I can figure out how to best apply it, I mean I had a few very modest lucky flukes, but this perhaps can help me find a smarter method then 'If you build it, they will come'.
    It might be kind of scary if my work did get popular.

    Some things to think about as I'm planning my return to releasing content. I do have a question though. I have not released a video since April 2023 and when looking at my 90 day, even 28 analytics I have More views, More Impressions, More watch Hours & more subscribers than previous 28 & 90 days. Yes it is still quite low as my channel is small but why would this happen when I have not released any new content for a couple of months? Is this something I should be looking at and trying to take advantage of, maybe not releasing weekly?

    Wait what makes a youtube channel small views or subs

  • @E.W.P
    @E.W.P ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Tod: For the most part recommendations and search don't get pushed out, they get (kinda) "pulled from viewers" (when we have absolutely no behavioural data) which is straight b's as TH-cam still logs your watch history which in turn is the exact behavioural data he is claiming they do not have.
    So that's a lie they have that behavioral data from viewers which in turn shows TH-cam that what 90% of all viewers will be suggested content from creators that are where logged in there watch history.
    This is still making the job of trying to grow and grab attention and traction next to impossible for small channels.

    • @E.W.P
      @E.W.P ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is also exactly what is so beyond broken about the supposed algorithm that is supposed to help suggest small channels

    • @digidv85
      @digidv85 ปีที่แล้ว

      All these “help” channels are complete BS. Anything they say as 100% proof can be easily contradicted. “Work hard and get results?” Say that in relation to all the worthless people who get millions of views for no effort: N&A Productions calling Minnie Mouse at 3 AM and having a stick figure pop out from a corner, elisocray drowning Peppa Pig in a bathtub, JayStation doing a ouija board challenge with Etika right after is suicide or Sneako praising Cuties. There’s no moral comparison to this nonsense against passionate creators like Taurus Versant. Entertaining guy. 1.4K videos. 236 subs.

    It’s interesting - my partner has her watch history turned off and she gets so many random video suggested. I on the other hand have them on, and always get super-relevant suggestions that I like consistently! Worth noting, I’m a Premium subscriber who binge-watches a ton of different content every day.

    Thank you, this video opened my perspective

  • @ninjaruss4205
    @ninjaruss4205 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think i found my niche (bo staff) that isn't all that competitive but it also doesn't pull a huge ton of viewers either. I thought it was harder on me until i did some searches and realized there's a lot of people just as good as me or even better that's getting far less views... So even though my channel is small and I'm getting between 600 - 1800 views per video, i think the algorithm might actually be supporting me more than the majority out there. To everyone out there working hard to grow your channel, i wish you the best and to keep working hard and stay consistent.
    YT shorts helped me get my first 100 subs so if you're just starting out or still climbing there, I'd recommend keeping your early videos to about 15 seconds each and adding audio from the recommended YT audio library. Try and make your videos fun to watch or convince your viewers to maybe watch it more than once. Increasing your audience retention will play a key role into growing your channel

    • @EdwardKenway130
      @EdwardKenway130 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, i've posted like 30 videos so far and only 10 shorts.. you wont believe it but i've got 39 subs only thanks to those shorts

    • @ninjaruss4205
      @ninjaruss4205 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EdwardKenway130 yeah i do believe it because i swapped to exclusively doing shorts for now and that's where all my subs are coming from.
      Looking at other martial arts channels that are doing the exact same thing but getting far less attention... I realized they aren't uploading many shorts if at all + i don't think they've caught on to relevant YT audio + using the right hashtags
      One thing i noticed if you're doing shorts, find someone similar that has been really successful and try to follow in their footsteps early on. One TH-camr I'm a big fan of is always using a certain song in every video. Since she has a certain audience that likes that content and that song, the algorithm thinks "hey if they like this popular person then they may like this person too." Have you ever scrolled to the next video and noticed "hey it's a different youtuber but they have the same song playing?"
      It's the same idea. The algorithm is picking up popular songs people listen to and sharing it back to back with similar content. When i tried that song it became pretty much my best video since i started

    I can attest to this. I am quite literally servicing a Niche, within a Niche. I wanted to be a Vtuber, and I'd noticed there weren't any Metal Reaction Vtubers. There weren't actually any Vtubers in the reaction sphere. That was my in. With the help of VID IQ's Ideas section, I was able to find videos applicable to my audience to break down. Over time, people who typically watch reaction videos became intrigued by me. I was different. I was a talking cartoon. The growth is also highly dependent on the Title and Thumbnail creating a need in the Audiences mind, and for you to begin filling that need within the first 10 seconds. As you start to grow and double down on your niche (Or find an untapped subniche within your niche), the algorithm gains more confidence in you. This seems to happen through retention. When you are able to retain viewers, the algorithm will recommend you to more viewers within that niche. If you continue retaining viewers, the audience in which you're recommended becomes wider.
    At the end of the day it's a combination of research, knowing what your target audience wants, creating the need to see your video with the title and thumnail, and delivering on it immediately. Do this while re-calibrating how and what you create based on retention, and you'll be well on your way to growing as a channel.

    Listening to them explain how the algorism works is funny when I can go to my analytic data and see that is not how it is working. I may complain a lot, theraputic really, but VidIQ gives some great advice.
    Anyway story time. When TH-cam was indexing my shorts properly two things were apparent from the data. Performance was not based on anything they say it was. Videos that got likes, subscribers, and great watchtime performed the same as videos with barely any metrics. The second thing was after roughly two hours the algorism would stop showing it to people. Coincidently at roughly the same views.
    Checking the data provided revealed the afforementioned issues, but the best part was they showed what tags my videos were be recommended on. As a gaming/geek channel you'd guess gaming and geek tags. You'd flunk that guess. Every vid checked the tags would have absolutely nothing to do with my channel's theme, meta data, or the tags on the video. Explaining why people were swiping off my content when they blatently did not want to see gaming content.
    Saying probably when describing how your algorism works does not inspire confidence in the varacity of what is being said. What inspires even less confidence are all the locked threads asking why people aren't seeing channel's shorts on TH-cam's help.
