4/26/02 Just looking back at the start of Project Atticus. Risk vs reward and it paid off big time. You can always get more money. What you can't get is more time and imo your spent to your time allocation wisely-together on a tiny little sailboat often in the middle of no where. Absolutely never to be forgotten priceless.
I started watching you guys when you were shopping for Atticus II, and I've been a weekly viewer since. In today's post, some 9 years after this post, you have just returned from your trip to Boston and the States to visit family with Isabella. In the post, you questioned the balance between sailing life and family life. I had to go back and see the roots of this crazy dream. This was the first time I saw the beginning of your journey, why you named your first boat Atticus and went to Key West and bought the Seawind. (I grew up in KW) I am sure by now the previous owner has passed. He would have been very proud of your desire to sail around the world, as Jordan is fond of saying, and what you've accomplished. Please bring back the hand-drawn globe and cutout sailboat intro. Your faithful fan.
This is pure gold to watch right after your most current video in which you announce just bought the PS40!!! Project Atticus is serving as a great video diary, too!
Amazing. Even with your limited but expanding knowledge and seeing all the work that needed to be done on Atticus, you both jumped in headfirst and took on this project. I admire your sense of adventure, your quest to learn and to make this boat your waterfront home for however long your journey lasts. For you, I hope it lasts a lifetime. For me, well, for as long as I live. This is going to be the adventure of a lifetime.
I started watching your videos, and decided to backtrack and start from the beginning. I love the fact that the Atticus is from Catskill NY, which is only about an hour from me. Looking forward to watching more adventures
I just a sailboat myself, 1976 . I don't plan to sail it just spend a night and day in it on a weekly basis. Started cleaning it and then paint the inside and then the outside. I am excited to do something new with my time. I live in Miami Florida.
Circling back to these early videos from your newer stuff and love seeing how you two got started! I'm in Denver CO and we have a little bow rider I rescued for $400. I've rebuilt it (from fiberglass patching to new floor and all new wiring) to the best of my abilities. Kudos to the two of you and the work you've done on Atticus! It's inspiring. I'm planning to one day buy a sailboat and your videos motivate me to consider those that need a little more TLC, to put in the work and make them my own. Happy sails!
I too have driven the highway to and from Key West. I am so proud of the two of you for following your dreams... 99.9% of humanity dreams of doing what you just did in this video... actually manifest your dreams and then go do them... sadly, most don’t go past dreaming.
I love how far y'all have come I'm incredibly inspired. The support Desiree has for Jordan and vice versa reminds me why I love my girl so much. Loyalty is just something you can't plan on.
Hey Doc William! Awww! Thanks for watching! Every once in a while we go back to watch some of our early episodes to remind us where we came from- I'm so happy we finally made it out cruising! Felt like it would never happen :)
So beautiful. I can't stop smiling . From 5:25 I just melted. I saw that look on a girls face when we launched our cat . Good luck and best wishes to both of you . Looking forward to watching more.
Re-watching this... Big difference between this video and the latest - not to mention the price difference between the two boats. I'm happy that you both have come this far.
Were you guys are so in love and I can't wait to watch ur journey unfold. I've always wanted to do this very thing, heading more out into Maldives. So I'm living vicariously through you guys! Stay safe! ❤️
Hey guys. I have just come across your channel as i am in the early stages also of finding a yacht to purchase. I'm not sure yet whether or not I will buy "ready to go" or as you guys have done one that needs some TLC. i have only just watched your 3rd episode so am really excited I have so many eps to go. Looks like not too much sleep for me in the next couple of days. My plan is to eventually start coastal hops of the east coast of Australia whilst learning to sail and also learning about the vessel I eventually buy. love your work guys. Thank you in advance because I know you documenting your experiences on your refit will teach me and help me immensely. Best regards, Shane
+wallabyshane Hi Shane! Thanks for your note! Great to hear of your sailing plans. Jordan and I have both debated countless hours about whether or not we made the right decision to buy a project boat with such little knowledge. Truth be told, we're glad we jumped into it and got started, and we've learned hundreds of new skills and developed confidence throughout our 2 year refit, but on bad days, we really wish we could have started sailing earlier. So, in retrospect, I think buying a project boat was a good idea, but we probably could have found a boat that was closer to sailing and still learned a lot. Best of luck and keep us in the loop of your sailing plans!
That was cool to see. I'm watching all your current great videos but had not seen the beginning in a while....I'd forgotten you had stopped to see 'the African Queen' . We just went for a ride her on the way to key west for my birthday. Couldn't stop grinning the whole time! I love the look on your faces after you had officially bought The Seawind 30. I remember it well! " fool rush in where angel fear to tread" comes to mind. , 'bin there done that! But you made it happen! Cheers Warren
A shite load of work ahead of you, but the journey itself is the best part. As he said... “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” ― Ernest Hemingway
Great prize my sailing boat is not really modern as well but I fixed it and it works great I'm a 23 year old sailer and I started last year I love it a lot and I love to play my Xbox and jam my rock music as I relax on my 10 20 minute break s its awesome guys I'm really happy for you
See a lot of couples sailing around the world on Amel and Beneteau yachts that cost half a million, good for you guys doing it on a budget. It's a sturdy boat.
Just found and going through your videos. Found through the sewing projects as I plan my own projects out. Looks like a nice boat despite the work. I bought my boat knowing it was in need of work and still working on it. Right now it's sitting at a marina by the Chesapeake just south of Annapolis with a long way to go still. Have fun out there! :-)
Hey Jack Rabbit! Haha! Thanks! Jordan was riding a wave of adrenaline, so he did a great job! The owner was a great guy too, so he understood where we were coming from! Thanks for watching!
Cap'n Fatty Goodlander. The only man you need to listen to. Forums may be good for technical know how, but all the attitude and encouragement you need is in that book.
I found your channel and have been watching your videos in reverse. I just saw this episode and wow, to see what you guys have done with this boat is amazing. Tremendous respect for you both and can't wait to see you sail the pacific! P-
Just found your channel. Great boat for restoration at an awesome price. Look forward to watching the project. First vid I watched was hard dodger #3, so I have to start back from this one. Congrats.
Hey David! Welcome to the channel! Be sure to check out our Boat Restoration Playlist (th-cam.com/play/PLOdfI7CmkSxhaFZa6l9Mr5S4raXNl-J3m.html) During our refit we didn't have enough time to fully edit most of our projects, so we did short videos from our phones to talk about different aspects of the refit. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching!
Hi guys. Over the last year or so, I've watched a couple of your videos that I've randomly seen in my recommended list. Just today, I've started watching from the very beginning. I must say - I love your attitudes. I'm also a big fan of how thoroughly you explain things, especially the feelings and emotions involved in cruising. Also, having seen Atticus' condition in your more current videos, I'm now looking forward to seeing all the work you had to do in order to get it ship-shape because it's quite apparent in THIS video that she required a TON of work. Looking forward to catching up with your series. Stay breezy. -Ben
Just subscribed! I watched you guys round Tres Punta, and just started the first video...wow you guys have turned that boat into something great!!!!!! Well done..now I'm going to binge watch...stay safe.
So yeah, I never saw the Atticus refit and I think maybe that was by choice more than opportunity. So glad that little boat took you so far, but it makes me cringe seeing how rough she was when purchased and how much it must've taken to make her seaworthy again. If you don't mind, I'm going to skip the time from the purchase to when I started following a few years ago and just relax, knowing you're in good hands now with Atticus II. You two are so easy to like and I know you won't take offense at my not being able to stomach all the repairs and issues you must've had in the beginning. Wow...
Wow... I feel so bad for the owner having to sell it because he's dying... well I guess he is no longer alive . I wish the man could have somehow had a miracle ,reversed his cancer... some people have reversed terminal cancer. Yes I would have liked for him to have become healthy again and for him to watch these... And for him to have another sailboat again .
Way to pick a boat and go for it. Just remember that that if anything's gonna happen it's gonna happen out there! There will always be problems, some things more expensive than others. Don't listen to everything everyone says or your mind will explode. Get salty. Follow your heart. She is still looking better than the More Hands On Deck boat though we are about a month away from sailing again finally! Nice camera work with the flip we may have to use that... hahaha keep it up! And keep in mind that all of the most expensive fixes in the world still won't buy you peace of mind, only faith in yourself, your vision and whatever else is out there will do that. Just send it.
When you asked your wife if she liked it and she relied, I like it kinda made me emotional and reminded me of my wife. She new you liked it and she confirmed it. She loves you your a lucky man and so am I
Just found you guys off Cuba lol well, per video anyway, now went back to the start to follow your journey, just watched this one, an awesome start. You were blessed in acquiring this boat, you took a leap of faith to restore an aging respectful lady, and by doing so you helped a family feel that their departed loved one's dreams are being fulfilled through your journey. There's a lot of good karma being gifted to you in all of that. 😇 Thanks for sharing, subscribed, cheers & be safe! lol 👍🏼🙏🏼
Dude that's a Excellent deal!! I'm in Nor Cal and I want a sailboat, even though I have never even been on a sailboat before lol All the one's I've seen online are 30K+
It's going well chad, but slow. On the hard in key west and have another few weeks before we're back in the water and then another month or so of work and we'll be off. By 72 you mean hull # 72? Where is she and how is it going? Would love to hear from another new Seawind owner.
Very polite you guys but you should never buy a boat without having a survey or seeing the boat yourselves out of the water. Blisters on the hull is not such a big problem but through hull fittings and the rudder are. If you really are going off into heavier seas then the boat can either save you or kill you. In the end you are very, very alone and you have only one good friend and that's your floating bubble. The sea cares for nobody.
I will never buy a plastic boat. Wood all the way for me. Fiberglass is just yucky to me. Starting from the beginning!!! I love the way Desiree looks at Jordan.

Wow! This series is a life course. Thanks for creating it.
Thank you for taking the camera off Scott's sister when she started to cry. That was very classy of you.
Agreed 🙏🏼
Agreed. I really hate it when the media keeps the camera rolling during emotional moments...just for ratings.
I started watching your videos, and decided to backtrack and start from the beginning. I love the fact that the Atticus is from Catskill NY, which is only about an hour from me. Looking forward to watching more adventures

Hey Doc William! Awww! Thanks for watching! Every once in a while we go back to watch some of our early episodes to remind us where we came from- I'm so happy we finally made it out cruising! Felt like it would never happen :)

I love your attitude and approach.
Yeah this is so cute and I just went back to see this
First sailing couple that actually acts like a couple. Just discovered ya'll today and I look forward to our shared adventure!

Hi Daniel! Thanks for your note! Good luck with the repairs! It will totally be worth it in the end :) At least that's what we're trying to believe!
I love your negotiation skills. Its exciting to see a young couple getting into such a venture.
Hey Jack Rabbit! Haha! Thanks! Jordan was riding a wave of adrenaline, so he did a great job! The owner was a great guy too, so he understood where we were coming from! Thanks for watching!
Been binge watching your vids - my new favourite!
Aww! Thanks Jack!
Thanks for the video. I am grateful for you giving me an idea of how much a boat like that costs.

A good way. It always begins with the first step. Greetings from Germany.
+Mushaschi Hi Mushaschi! Thanks for the greetings! Happy holidays!
Just started watching. Enjoy the videos!
+Whit-Ness Travels Thanks very much! Welcome!
When you asked your wife if she liked it and she relied, I like it kinda made me emotional and reminded me of my wife. She new you liked it and she confirmed it. She loves you your a lucky man and so am I
that is deep .
I hope Scott is still here on this earth watching your cruise.

Looks like a fun story.
How is it going. We are anxious to see more of your dream project. Hi from me and my family.
Scott
Hi Scott
I am glad you took on Scotts boat, and make it happen.
Thanks Hans! He was a great guy, and we're still in touch with his family!
Dude that's a Excellent deal!! I'm in Nor Cal and I want a sailboat, even though I have never even been on a sailboat before lol All the one's I've seen online are 30K+
Check the bulkhead that the chain plates are attached to... may be soft and damp.
It's going well chad, but slow. On the hard in key west and have another few weeks before we're back in the water and then another month or so of work and we'll be off.
By 72 you mean hull # 72? Where is she and how is it going? Would love to hear from another new Seawind owner.
So Cool
the way she looks at you ! lucky man
Great video.
What is the boat type and size?
You’re kind heart, may you blessed for the rest of your beautiful life. I know not many ppl would do what you did.
Lucky man.. oh yes and cool boat too
Haha! Thanks Derek!
Good news it was still floating!!!! Yeah!!!!!
$5500 for a boat that size is a great deal, even with the problems you encountered.
Definitely making my idea of living on a boat a bit more realistic
Wow. I almost bought this exact boat! How's it going? I'm now looking at 72 up here now.
plus don't you guys have a website you gotta put that in the description brother
How easy is it to find boats at that price with such potential?
i think i am going to be entertained for a long time hhh.
If that gentleman could see you today, he'd be so proud! Have you checked back with his sister since?
Atticus is the man’s project and that man is her’s
Good choice to repaint the bottom of the boat.
Boy have video cameras come a long way
What is the boat type and boat measurments?
Vero Beach 🏖️⛱️ FLORIDA
And it's in good shape
Very polite you guys but you should never buy a boat without having a survey or seeing the boat yourselves out of the water. Blisters on the hull is not such a big problem but through hull fittings and the rudder are. If you really are going off into heavier seas then the boat can either save you or kill you. In the end you are very, very alone and you have only one good friend and that's your floating bubble. The sea cares for nobody.
Nice
I can't believe how cheap this boat was! Just a new mountain bike is 4K easy. Seems like they should have spent more up front.
Introduction to the baseball cap
Im still binge watching lovin it ..
All empires start with a garden
You guys ever seen The Money Pit with Tom Hanks 😂😂
Good job I've seen later episodes so know it turns out well 🙂
30ft is around 9meters? That small??
Hold up he has more water in the engine then cracks is that really this problem
5k$ is very very good honestly
Why did you name your boat Atticus?
I will never buy a plastic boat. Wood all the way for me. Fiberglass is just yucky to me. Wood boats have been around since the beginning of time and there's a beauty that comes with a wood boat that you simply don't find with a fiberglass boat. Anyway, I probably won't watch the rest of your videos but I wish you all the best with your first sailing vessel.
Good for you, Mark. Thanks for sharing.
Just $5,500? Wow.
feel really sorry for the terminal guy
Idk. I was born in 63' and I wouldnt sail me around the world. Lol
