Good test. And you confirmed what I also did. Sdcs are only good for a max of 5 or 6 inches and that's on bigger targets. If your expecting any deeper nuggets that 4 inches stick to your gpx or 7000s
I had a 14x9 just added extra weight to a machine that is already heavy with no special results, have found a 5.6 gram half foot deep with the standard 8 inch am now about to try the 10x5

I liked the 10x5 due to its increased sensitivity over the standard coil. The larger coils were good for extra ground coverage but the cost is a slight eduction in sensitivity
Good video Les, I reckon the SDC is never going to go deep on the bigger stuff even with larger coils, its a tiny gold specialist machine (unless its a big nugget), I have a GPX 5000 even with a 6" coil in fine gold timing the SDC killed it. The SDC has a super fine timing for small targets close to the coil. If you go to WA maybe buy a GPX and sell it when you get back, SDC and GPX good combination . Thanks for that bullitzzz. I agree with you 100%. I also run a 5000 with a range of Evo coils and the two machines make a great combo. Wouldn’t consider selling either of them. I’ve done some comparison work between the two and no matter what I do, I can’t get the SDC to compete with the GPX for depth. Conversely, even with a small coil, the 5000 can’t come anywhere near the SDC on small stuff or porous or prickly gold. Each one has its advantages. Cheers
I have used a couple of types of booster. The SP 01 works very well and lifts the signal. Combined with some good headphones, you end up with a good unit. Most of the time I don’t use anything as I often rake and find the booster and headphones a pain to take on and off.
Thanks for the comment Peter. If the TDI and the ATX are producing good results for you then stick with them. Those results sound impressive. The reason for doing this test was to compare two after market coils on the SDC rather than performing comparisons with other machines. Good luck with your detecting adventures.

The 10x5 is a very good, sensitive coil. Great for cleaning up the small stuff on old workings.

I really liked the sensitivity of the 10x5. That coil found quite a lot of small gold.
So would you say the 14x9 isn't worth getting as the 10x5 finds most bits anyhow?

Thanks Mark. The smaller the coil the bigger the chance of finding small gold. I reckon the smallest piece would have been about 0.05 grams.
What seting have you got ,do you have a booster on it ???
When you put the coiltek on is your machine still waterproof
The coils from memory are classified as being water resistant. Using this coil does not impact on the waterproof properties of the machine.

Settings are adjusted to suit the ground that you are detecting. Where possible, I run the machine on 5.

Your Whites tdi will pick a nickel up at 18'' and the atx will pick it up at 16'' on wet sand the SDC have no advantage with these coils
