    Brandon, I just wanted to let you know that the rep fitness stabilizer legs for the Rep 5000 are compatible with the Monster Rogue rack. I added them to mine and they fit perfectly. I'd suggest people add them as Rogue is not adopting the a la cart approach. I have the monster mini feet that just arrived and the rep ones are larger like the half rack ones you have.

    I purchased the 24" tall storage rack from Titan fitness and bolted to my RML 490C and it worked fine. I did by additional 24" cross members from Rogue and used those vs the ones from Titan and the rig looks great and is very functional. An option at least for those of you who would like to have plate storage like did.

    I just addressed this on my own rack yesterday, by repositioning some of the weight horns. I too did not want a six post rack and tried to use my rear posts for storage, but they definitely got in the way because I had 5 up and down the rear. I would bump some of the other plates that were stored and even when I slid the weights to the edge, I sometimes hit the horns when trying to rack the bar in the J-cups. The other issue is some of the bolts interfered with positioning of j-cups or safeties. I took a pair off and moved a pair of small horns to the back of the rack on the top horizontal post (I.e. behind the “Bar don’t lie” sign Brandon has on his rack). Simple and good topic for a video!

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some good thoughts here. Def would get more tricky if you're doing multiple posts and/or using bolt on which takes up more room (esp for j cups and safeties).

  • @rippedtopshelf6806
    @rippedtopshelf6806 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you've got the room and funds, a 6-post rack provides ample storage for plates and accessories, without compromising lifting inside the rack. I added a 2-post extension to my RML390F. Awesome.

  • @1986mumbles

    I have a RML 490 and two pairs of plate storage pins. My original plan was to put one pair in the front and one pair in the back so the rack would be weighed down evenly. However, I find that just having one pair of storage pins weighs the rack down fine when I have three 45 pound plates on each pin. I don't really need the other set of pins to weight the rack down. I ended up moving both sets of plate storage pins to the front so I can do floor press without it being in the way. I use the pair on the bottom to hold all of my 45s and then my other pair right above them to hold all of my smaller plates. My rack does not budge. I do pull ups. I squat on the side without plate storage like Brandon suggested. I have space to bench and floor press. I like my set up a lot.

    if someone is actually hitting the plates in storage, you can actually just rack the bench on the same side Brandon racked the sqaut, ie the opposite side

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Def true! I think in that case you'd just want to make sure you have the rack pulled a bit further away from the wall to allow for your feet to have enough room.

    Brandon, I have a Titan T-3 short rack. I understand what you mean about bending over to grab plates that are stored low. I did put the plate storage as low and as high as I can go on all 4 uprights. So 8 total weight hangers. 25lb plates and lower on the upper storage. 35s, 45s and 100s on the lower storage. I have never had an issue hitting stored plates.

    Super timely video. Facing similar dilemma. 26” deep rack with two vertical horns behind it. Thinking of: 1) storage pegs on the rear uprights for iron plates 2) bumpers on the vertical horns and 3) spotter arms outside, for bench/the press. Squatting inside. Only question is, squat facing the rear uprights, or the front uprights? Wdyt?

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd prob squat facing the front personally, but that's just b/c I don't like squatting up against a wall if I don't have to.

  • @LatinIrishDude
    @LatinIrishDude 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome video and the pegs are great for stability.
    I will say that if you are like me and have a “budget rack” (Fitness Reality 810xlt) and are smaller than average for an adult, the hole placement combined with the smaller chest can cause some interference with weight holders. I have done this a few times while benching so I just take the plates off the holders during bench. Still recommend the plate holders though. And once again, this shouldn’t affect people with average chest size or ideal hole placement on their racks.

      I wonder for some of those if things like sandbags would help.

  • @dasdos002
    @dasdos002 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    There are so many factors when figuring this stuff out. If you have a ton of space you can just put your rack in the open then bench and squat from the front uprights. If you have less room, try throwing the pins pointing the other direction. I had to do this with my top pins. The pins at the bottom and top are perpendicular to each other (silly looking) but when I squat the weights don’t hit each other.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Def true, although if you're using spotter arms in that kind of set up you def want to bolt or weigh the rack down.

    • @dasdos002
      @dasdos002 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brandon Campbell Diamond I have a 390F. So I don’t have to worry about bolting it down. But if I didn’t have my ski feet, what’s wrong with perpendicular pins? It’s still extra weight on the rack. I think it should be ok no matter what direction the pins face. I wonder if I can post a picture in this comment?

  • @CallSaul489
    @CallSaul489 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes and I have 6 plate storage pins. I move my jcups to the other side of the rack temporarily and bench freely.

  • @patrickb4458
    @patrickb4458 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If this is an issue for some people, you could always bench on the front side of the rack and just purchase some spotter arms for outside the rack.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could do that, but that also might increase the likelihood of tipping depending on how much weight you have on the bar (and on the pins).

  • @VVIan-cn5cs
    @VVIan-cn5cs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    For mine what got tricker is when the back uprights have more than one pair of plate pins mounted, and there was a stabilizer bottom crossmember between the two back uprights. If I were to press inside of the rack with a 50" long flat bench, I can't put J-cups on the front uprights because there will be no space for legs; but if I put J-cups at the back uprights, even if there are space between pins, the higher plates and pins could get in the way. Not having a solution yet...

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mabye move the 2nd set of plates up?

    • @VVIan-cn5cs
      @VVIan-cn5cs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BasementBrandon Yeah that can work. Mine actually has four pairs of storage pins. I ended up moving one pair to the lowest point at front uprights, moving one pair up quite a bit then making the third pair oriented to the back of the rack. The rack storage looks a little funny now but functionally it works. 😅

    • @VVIan-cn5cs

    I've got an RM-4 on the way and I'd really like to avoid bolting the rack down. I was able to snag two pairs of the Rogue Monster Mini Feet, one for the front and one for the back of the rack (they do come in stock, just rarely; I was able to order them on the 14th). In your opinion, do you think that will be sufficient for stabilization without weight storage on the rack? We do plan to squat outside the rack sometimes with spotter arms. It varies, for the 6 post I had I left a few inches past where the largest diameter plate I owned would go on the plate storage (prob 6"). For this one now it's probably more like 1'-1.5" bc I have rear stabilizing feet on it and I want to be able to get behind the rack if needed.

    It is, however, a potential problem if you're a pleab who only was able to snag a SML-2 and the bolt-on storage pins (another regret). The lowest mounting point for the bolt-on pins CAN cause you to bump plates when benching unless you unrack way behind your head. Obviously, that's not relevant for your rack and possibly a non-issue even with the SML-2 if you have the channel plate storage but just trying to save someone who has my setup.

    Hello Brandon. Do you hit the uprights while reracking specially a heavy bench set because of the 49” rogue width? Is there any barbell with bigger inside length? (I know sandwich cups or monolift might help but in Sorinex or Rep you start with 47” and you can use also sandwich and monolift)

    • @BasementBrandon
