    Thumbs up for your clear instruction. I had this 170 tore all the way down, but had no idea if the oiler was bad or not. My bushings had to be replaced and they were very tough to remove and install the new ones. I had to add some oil. So now that I have the new carb installed, the oiler isn't working, so now I have to take it all down again and install a new oiler pump. I cleaned out all the screened filters and all is good. I really didn't want to take it back down again....grrrr

    Great job on this video! A couple of tips though. We should not pound on the crankshaft as bearing stress and damage can occur.....I remember you said you were operating on another video's advise. Happy to see you used the puller which is the proper method. Secondly, a tiny bit of machine oil or silicone spray will aid in reassembling the rubber tubes and handle mounts. Again, very nice job showing this repair!!

    Totally fixed my problem! Somehow the oil feed pipe had come away from its location in the housing. That’s why no oil to chain and oil coming out the bottom! Just popped it back in and all gravy! Thanks

    Excellent pair of videos. Came across them when searching for help with my MS180 which I guess is more or less the same. You stripping the MS170 down for the first time and being so relaxed about it and showing so much detail has given me the confidence to give it a go. You are a real engineer! I'm looking forward to catching up on years worth of your other videos which look really interesting too. Needless to say, I have subbed. Thanks again.

    On those rubber parts you put together such as the fuel tube and the handle rubbers, just give them a little shot of WD40 or some other light lube that will let the parts slip into place easier, just a suggestion. Really like the breakdown of the saw though, helped me clean and service my saw, Thank you very much.

    Theres been old fuel in it for years, it keeps leaking, the muffler is so rusty. Idk where to start really lol.. Buts its a goal of mine to get in to run again, im sure my dad would like that.

    • @retrorestore

      Not sure bud. the leak is probably due to leaving the oil in the chainsaw with it standing on a flat surface. Try tipping it on the side where the fill plug is.

    Hi Martin love all your vids by the way :) I searched TH-cam for mondeo mk3 tdci vids and found your vids by chance. I've also watched your magnet fishing vids I love metal detecting so can see where magnet fishing would come in handy for finding old coins and relics. Then I watched your car repair vids and found them very clear to follow :) and the cherry on the cake is the lawnmower vids I've started to buy or ask for free faulty petrol lawnmowers. I got a mountfield hp470 the other day that someone must've stored upside down lol I've followed your vids and now it starts first time and now have the bug for them lol couple of questions can you tell me what a good but under the £100 mark air compressor I can get so I can work on motors and lawnmowers etc Would it be possible that you can damage and then show a vid on how to replace your aux drive belt tensioner on your mk3 tdci please. So if it is a two stroke does that mean there is two types of oils to fully lubricant it

    • @retrorestore
      @retrorestore  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      2 Stroke engines need a petrol/oil mix or they will seize up if you try and run them on just petrol bud. As your one is electric, it will only need chain oil as it doesn't have a petrol engine.
