Classic air cooled 911 is an experience. Not the quickest, but it allows you to rev out the car and not go instantly to jail. Once setup suspension wise they handle great. As a 993 owner I can tell you they grow on you. The classic interior is so basic that it feels like a tine warp when you enter. The smell, the feeling, and the sound are phenomenal IMHO.
Gotta say that footage of the clouds covering those mountains are epic!! Hooray for a manual transmission - you can't drop the clutch to start a new 911 !

No power steering in a 964? I had a 1990 Carrera 4 and it most definitely had power steering! Ask my wife! Good that you enjoyed the drive though, wish we some of those roads in Kent! Cheers from (a bit rainy) Sevenoaks.

Great sound capture of that wonderfully built 964, Luke ! And these amazing sceneries... I just added the Grimselpass to my Alpentour, this September. One note, though: 964 to be the first 911 Model with power steering. Still heavy (and not electrically decoupled, yet), but supported. You’d notice when you try to stir with very low speed.
Thanks man and yeah I was actually wondering that, someone else told me they “think” it has some kind of power steering but still feels heavy so really wasn’t sure 😅

Except for the RS all 964's did indeed come with power steering, but in a proper way; so just enough assistance to let you feel the tyres do their job. Two questions: what was done to get the weight down to the 1280kg figure you mentioned? And what kind of mods were done to the engine to get it from 250 up to 300 horsepowe? Keep up the good work!

Cars with Luke the 964 porsche 911 has been built between from 1989-1994 so it‘s around 30 years old (i first thought it‘s the older G-Modell). In Switzerland you can get your car registered as a ‚Veteran‘ when it‘s older than 30 years old. So, the 911 in your video is just on the brink of being considered an oldtimer. Cars which are around 30 years and younger, you might call ‚Youngtimers‘. I hope this helps...👋🏼

Could be the typical ignition / starter engine position issue as well. Very common on 964. Wiggle back and forward when not in downhill mode position to relief this matter.

Just added an ‘88 3.2 Coupe to the garage and what an amazing car it is. I love my GT3 but I have more fun in the ‘88. I did just install the rennline adjustable pedals to fix the annoying factory pedal positions. That one change made a massive difference in the driving experience.

Funnily enough I had the same issue last summer with the same model car, only I was facing upwards the road so had to wait 1.5hr for the TCS guy that finally showed up and jumped the battery at 8 PM when sun went down. Luckily I had the EOS5 and took incredible sunset shots with the 964...
btw will be pretty interested in full exhaust job because as you know very well, CH regulations and full exhaust ... well ;)
2 points must be figgered out:
1. if you start the engine of the PORSCHE 964 by rolling down the hill and than putting in a gear you are distroying the catalysator
2.if you are not familiar with the theft protection of this icon you should read the operating manual.
Why? Because if a door of this car is open (not locked with the key) longer than one minute without engine running you aren't able to start the engine. What is to do? You must lock the door with the key and open it again. After that you can start your eigene without any problem. GL for the next time

Maybe its just been standing for a while unused so the battery could be the cause there. As for the interior, did your mate get all the original interior parts thrown in too. Rear seats missing. Is a nice car looking on here but whats it like close-up

So funny and strange to hear this: I do not know much about classic cars. A while (some years) ago my father used this car as a Carrera4 as his daily every day to work and back :). Now it is called a classic car :)....
