    Hi Eta Prime, thank you for the great reviews on your channel.
    It is precisely because of this clip that I bought the same set for a project.
    The Pi4 with 4GB of memory and this 5inch monitor.
    The power supply has yet to come in, but if I connect everything as you show in the video, it won't work with a USB charger or power bank.
    If I leave the USB connection off for the power display and I supply the display with power via the power bank with a power cable, then it all works fine.
    What is your power solution that you use in this clip?
    Do I have to continue to power the display and the pi4 each with a USB cable or can I also use 1 USB cable via my Power Bank of 30000?
    Because it works with a smaller battery for you.
    Thanks and regards,
    Wilbert

  • @Tom2112Tom
    @Tom2112Tom 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I hope ELECROW does the same "upgrades" to their 7" display! The removable mounting tabs, the inset ports with specific adapters to plug in a Pi. I can't stand all the cables sticking out the side of their existing 7" model and old 5" model. That makes it very inconvenient to mount inside a case (or makes your case a lot larger than it needs to be). One last gripe about both: the resolution. Sure I can see a low res on a 5" display. But that 7" display needs to be at least 768 pixels tall. Most modern OS need that much height to properly show their windows, dialog boxes, etc. 600 pixels just doesn't cut it.

    That's a really good screen, I wish it would be 1080p but at least it doesn't have screen tearing. Will you try the new Hyperpixel 4.0 Square? Its a 1:1 720p screen but there is absolutely no video testing it on TH-cam and it might be the best retro console display out there!

    • @4h0w1e6
      @4h0w1e6 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That looks nice. I have to say, I made a pseudo 1:1 cabinet so I could play both horizontal and vertical arcade games without physical rotation. It's "pseudo" because it really is a 43" display mounted vertically inside, but only a 2160 x 2160 square is visible. Anyhow, you could achieve same thing in a handheld with this Hyperpixel.

    • @fdmazlum

    Would be a nice size screen for my homemade camera (videos on my channel). Now if someone can figure out how to record sound in video with the pi camera module without dubbing, it would be neat. I can record the tracks separately and lay the audio track over the video in an editor, but would be easier if it all just worked together without that. I am sure there is a way but I haven't figure it out yet.

      I'm planning too many things with it, I actually ordered it a few days before this vid and got it the day this came out. Initially I had been thinking about a car use, I had previously been heavily lhacking at the Honda with the hdmi port, but then my sister gave me an old volvo xc90 which has this 1.5x5 c ubby hole above the cd player. Was thinking like a case that slides in there then I got i stated thinking minicade, then robot, then k9 then 790 robot head then must choose something, i just keep buying things, eventually I will make something or have a lot of random parts

    I assume the touch functionality works if I try it with my Windows 10 PC? I've been eyeballing some screens to use as a dedicated bottom screen in DS emulation that would let me properly use a stylus. This one is at a good price point for such limited / specific use imo

      It's nothing but limited. It's the holy grail of DS gaming

    Maybe this one will work with the Lineage OS Android build that has GPU support since it uses HDMI. My Official 7" touchscreen won't work with the Android build that has gpu support since it uses the dsi connector. :(
