As a youth worker ages 40, I had a 15 year old girl infatuated with me. When taking the group to the theatre in York one evening she put her arm in mine and said ..."Bal, those men are looking at me. Can you pretend you're my boyfriend"?...I said...let's pretend I'm your dad. It is up to adults to take responsibility. My dad, aged 42, left us for a 16 year old girl....when I interviewed her for a book years later...aged 43....she asked how old I am. I told her and she was shocked I was the same age as her. I told her, "I don't blame you, it was my dads responsibility to say 'no' to your advances" Women and girls are so vulnerable to men it sickens me. We are NOT ALL like that, you know but alas, there are too many who are.
At 17 (I was a very young and vulnerable 17 year old and looked about 14 too) I had the biggest crush on my 40 year old music teacher. OMG I was addicted to him. He was also so professional, and believe me and I tried it on with him like CRAZY and wore very revealing outfits and make up. He was clearly very flattered and we got on very well but he kept the space between us at all times.
I get the mom has lost a lot but nope, I can't give her a pass. She not only had several red flags but multiple people come and tell her and she went out of her way to ignore them and protect her daughters abuser instead of her daughter. It's disgusting and Lucy deserved better.
I am finding it difficult to be compassionate towards the mum too.. Emma does it so much better than I ever could have. I'm just hoping there was convos between Lucy and her mum that we don't know about to have convinced her mum there wasn't something wrong.
@@staceyYTyes she's better than me too because I can only find compassion and sympathy for Lucy. Even if the mother didn't know 100% he was sexually abusing her just the fact when she kicked him out she blamed it on him arguing with Lucy shows she was allowing a nobody to them to verbally abuse her child. I'm glad Emma acknowledged they were failures at least.
I suppose at the end of the day she has another child, and they got a lot of backlash at the time, and I don't know if I could have lived with myself. I admire the other girls parents going round, I'm sure there are a lot of people feeling like they failed her and wishing they had done more. Idk personally if I had been her mum, so much conversation would have taken place, but then she also let him move in, in the first place with all that stuff, idk what age this mum was, but she must have been much older than the 24? Year old boyfriend to have had a 12 year old. When you combine all her actions it seems like she may have had a lot of issues going on herself. All speculation though.
Being from Southampton and knowing people that knew Lucy’s family, very personally I have to disagree with a lot of the views in this video. There is absolutely nothing ‘kind or nice’ about Lucy’s family. I have never met Steven in my life yet I was aware and so was most of Southampton that he was well known for tattooing young girls! And within homes, not just at a parlour. They did nothing to protect their daughter they brought him into the home knowing exactly what that scumbag was about and them themselves are, I wish her step dad had got worse then what happened in that shop, and for the record he actually admitted to throwing the first punch. I implore you all to go on Southampton’s daily echo to read the comments on the article about what the people who actually know them think of them! If you believe for a moment her mother didn’t know about the sexual abuse and RAPE of her daughter, you are incorrect. It was completely well known in their area/estate and Lucy’s mother moving her schools just shows her guilt and to top it off she was told! Not just by the one friend in this video. Who has a man in the house who openly ‘argues’ with their child. No I’m sorry but everyone of those adults are responsible! The only victim here is poor Lucy, rest easily, far to young, let down by all you knew.
I commented similarly without having your close local knowledge... IF the parents had brought this scumbag into their home out of good goodness- as good parents wouldn't he have been OUT the second the school told them about the accusations? Because even IF she was in "fantasy land", any decent human being would recognise that this is not a healthy situation for either their child OR the person being fantasised about... So, I'm inclined to fully agree with you. I'm very shocked at Emma's unusual grace towards the parents considering the evidence that they were not only told literally by 3 DIFFERENT SOURCES that the scum was r@ping their daughter, but they go so far as to cause Lucy potential upheaval by making her change schools at a very important time simply to escape being investigated by social services and to me that's a MASSIVE 🚩 but then they hear constant verbal abuse from Nicholson towards Lucy - and they only ask him to leave "after getting sick of the arguments"... Arguments? That's abuse not arguing and most importantly, they shouldn't have given themselves time to get sick of it - he should have been booted out on his arse before he drew his next breath after they witnessed the FIRST "arguement". Gross people and what's worse is they'd just had a baby before this happened, so they've got another opportunity to be shite parents. I hope they've learned from the experience I really do but like Emma said, the best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour 😳 😔 Poor sweet Lucy. RIP angel 🙏 🌸 🐻
If someone was living in my home and begin fighting, calling my child names they'd be drop kicked out the door in a New York minute! I don't have sympathy for the parents what so ever, most likely he was their drug connect and having him live there was better than speed dial! You can ignore a lot of shit but the abuse of Lucy was blaring in their face and they didn't do shit! To hell with both of them!
Absolutely. Her actions or lack thereof are utterly contemptible and criminal. She should be in prison receiving prison justice on the daily. I sincerely hope karma finds her. Absolute failure 😡
I don't sympathize at all with the mother, she was shown so many red flags and still chose other things over her daughter without so much as a thought. It raises the question of how exactly cautious her mom was in the first place to allow some weirdo to come in without looking into him especially when she has young children.
So I want to talk about my mother for a minute. Not making excuses for this mother, I don’t know her. But I want to draw a possible parallel. My ident and I were two very different people. As rebellious teens, she did not give a fuck. Did what she wanted, took her consequences, went back out again and just did her thing. Don’t get me wrong, she as also very pro social. Did well in school, had lots of genuine friends, and was a very kind person. She was just also a holy terror. I, on the other hand, was “the good kid”. I never asked for anything. I never gave anybody any immediate problems. I drove the speed limit. That kind of thing. But I was the kid who taught my sister how to sneak out via the roof, onto the well pump house, and down to freedom. When I told my mother about this, years later, she was genuinely shocked. She got quite upset with me. For not “allowing” her the maternal right to worry about me when I was so “covert” Yeah, likely. My point is that parents are not always the all-seeing, all-knowing entities that non parents, or parents like mine, think they are. My sister turned out to be the most stable one. We both got our educations. She lives a stable and rational life. I moved abroad, live nowhere permanently if I can help it, and own almost nothing.
@@BeckBeckGo I get what you mean but Lucy's case is different. They can hear them fighting in the house and the monster calling her names. Aside from that 2 schools and Lucy's friend's parents TOLD her but she didn't believe it and chose to ignore it. Not everything is known by our parents (I was known as the quiet and good girl but rebelled in my own way) It was obvious something was wrong with Lucy and people in that house didn't give an F.
yes, she was an ignorant in denial. the school alerted that safeguarding organisation and in response to that she got a hissy fit and moved her to another school. -I have no idea how and why this would stop the investigation, since the report was already made, and that safeguarding organisation should have done their job-I don't know how that works. she also ignored the guy calling her daughter names. so I agree with You.
I think her mother should have been given prison time for children neglect. Even if she didn't believe her, she could have gotten her checked by a professional. Social services should have got her checked as well. Two people killed that innocent little girl, that man and her mother
I'm sorry but I cannot believe that a good mother who cares about her child could genuinely miss what's going on under her nose. You'd have to really be totally out of your mind and in a daze day in and day out to not realise what's going on, to miss the fighting, name-calling and suspicious behaviours. And if she genuinely did miss these at first, the two schools' concerns should have put her on high alert and she should have been hyper vigilant from there on out to catch any suspicious behaviours going on. To me she willingly and knowingly fed her to this predator. She sacrificed her. Shame on her! How could you put a dangerous, violent, crazy pos's well being ahead of your daughter's? She put her so close to fire and expected her not to burn? She is either dangerously naive or incredibly non chalant about her daughter's safety and well being.
I can understand not even imagining that anything so awful could be happening in your home. I really do. The evidence really started to stack-up in this case. As soon as I got a call from the school I’d be on high alert & he’d be out of my home!!
As I listen to this I can’t help but get angrier and angrier with her mother I’m sorry. Her mother brought this into the home and when the school lets her know what does she do throw him out in case nope she switches her daughters school SHAME ON HER MOTHER
The responsibility for Lucy's murder is with Nicholson but sorry, not sorry - her mother ABSOLUTELY is responsible for bringing a known criminal around her child AND THEN calling her own daughter a liar when the abuse was exposed... even if I thought my child was "in fantasy land" he would be out of that house before he drew his next breath because even if she WAS fantasising it's obviously not in her interest for him to be around. Unbelievable parental failure. Quite surprised at Emma's lack of anger a the mother. Poor Lucy rest peacefully sweet girl 🙏 ♥ 🌸 🐻
Like she doesn’t find it concerning that her 12 year old is “fantasizing” about being assaulted by the man who is literally a room across from hers? Hearing that once will get me to intervene immediately. Like come on, two schools, an older cousin, concerned friends and a concerned parent and she still think her daughter is lying??? She even heard him screaming at her kid and cussing at her but she still thought Lucy was in the wrong??
I cannot and will not give Lucy's mother a pass. She knew enough of what was happening to keep the guy in the home. She also transferred Lucy to another school sooner than allow the agency to be able to investigate what was going on. Lucy told her what was going on, yet that bastard was allowed continued access to her.
If my child came to me (which he would) and said that someone had hurt, touch or made him touch etc I would not question if he's telling the truth. Straight to the police 100% (I'd have to go straight to police or I'd be in jail and that person would be missing a body part)
Because their selfish cunts who don't want the drama I've experienced a parent turning a blind eye to psychological abuse and It still hurts 30 years later. They put relationship over child
Seriously. She had not one but two reports from school officials, witnesses her child being verbally abused by a grown man and hardly did anything. They shouldn’t have even moved him in to begin with. The probability of sexual abuse from males not related to a child living in the same house extremely high. What were they thinking honestly
Coming from Southampton, I can tell you the feeling of anger and rage towards the mother and step father was massive. In fact, following the Court case, the pair had to have round the clock police protection. It was also revealed that Elmes (the step father) had googled 'how to get DNA off a dead body' during the cross examination, but he was exempt from prosecution - FACT. i think you'll find Nicolson and Elmes were best friends, hence allowing him (Nicolson) to stay, not the mother being nice. It has been speculated that White / Elmes give up crutial information to the police about Nicolson in exchange from prosecution.
The fact that the mother called Lucy a fantasist angers me. I have two daughters, 16 and 20 and would never have put them in such a situation full stop. Also, she had a new-born baby living with several reptiles and a tarantula. Ridiculous.
I agree. The snakes are reptiles ( not my choice of pet), but a big hairy, tropical Spider ! I'm used to spiders. I live in Australia. Some of them a deadly..but they eat flies & moths which is great but... A pet Spider is weird for a grown man!!
I totally missed that her mom had a newborn in the house. There was a case in Florida (not surprisingly) in 2009 where a woman starved her 8 foot long python for over a month. Oh, and she also kept the snake in a cage covered with a DUVET BLANKET. The mother f-cking audacity to think that any of that as a pet owner, and really as a human being in general, is even remotely okay is baffling. But, the turd cherry on that shit sundae is that the woman had a two year old daughter. The 8 foot 6 inch snake, who had not eaten in longer than a month used all of it's strength to push that extremely heavy (sarcasm 😂) duvet blanket out of the way and went into the two year olds crib. When the mom and her boyfriend went in to get the girl out of her bed, she saw the snake tightly wrapped around the little girls body and it's fangs were sunk in her forehead.
It was that monster who abused and murdered Lucy BUT her own mother helped him do that. I really despise these so-called parents who let a grown man (a stranger at that) live in their house, knowing they have a CHILD there! and when abuse allegations come out they don't believe it. Lucy's mum is just a disgusting POS. I hope she lives with regret for the rest of her life for what she did. Many concerned people already told her and she didn't believe them. No wonder Lucy hesitated telling her and was more comfortable confiding on other people. Women like Lucy's mum don't deserve to have kids. I hope her other child is taken from her and adopted to a loving home as she just is not capable of doing that. Her crying is for her and not for Lucy. She didn't do anything to protect her child and she deserves all the hate she is getting.
I can’t imagine loosing a child like that. We lost a child who was only 16 years old to leukemia. It destroyed her parents and we as a family endured this loss. A life not lived, a horrible death. I was only 4 at that time , till this day, I’m 51 now, I mourn my dear Rosemaries death. She was so loved. Loosing a child to a predator must be so much worse. A child is an unbelievable gift, so precious.
Bless your heart & may your beloved Rosemary be filled with love & joy in your mind always. I lost my brother. It utterly shattered my family. It’s hard, isn’t it?
As a parent, you are responsible for providing a safe home for your child. No random man, let alone a thug, should be allowed in your home with your young daughter. Multiple people are responsible for this incident
I love your longer explanation of how children have natural crushes on older role models and normal adults will find it cute and endearing, but we know how to handle the situation gently. Most others that have told stories like this gloss over this quickly because it's such a sensitive topic to discuss. Thank you for explaining it so in depth! ❤
This isn't the first video either. I really like Emma but it's off putting how she continues to let these POS parents off the hook, even saying they deserve our sympathy 🙄. Wonder if she reads the comments as she's been called out for it in previous cases she's covered.
I have absolutely no sympathy for Lucy’s Mum. As far as I’m concerned she isn’t a ‘fit’ parent. I wouldn’t move a man in to begin with (I have an 11 year old) but more than that he was given the opportunity to be alone with her. In the transcripts it said the teacher stated that the stepdad and lodger had access to Lucy when her Mum wasn’t at home. The second it was brought up by the school the first time you’d act, rumour or not. The transcripts also say that the safeguarding professionals stated that Lucy’s Mum was confrontational. Unforgivable. Mr Elmes (stepdad) said in court that he argued with Lucy as well. He admitted sending a message to the teenager's mother Ms White saying: "I'm going to end up punching Lucy." Ms White replied: "If you punch a child you will end up in jail so is it worth it, seriously?" They’re awful people.
I think the mum is at fault here too! No way would she of not known his history when she knew his social circle and I would never allow a friend of a new partner to move in with me and my kids let alone bringing all those animals! She shouldn't get such a pass here
It feels like you’re giving the mother too much grace throughout this video. She was highly neglectful towards Lucy to allow that monster in their lives. No decent parent would allow someone to act abusive to their children. No decent parent who actually pays attention to their children wouldn’t have a gut feeling there was something inappropriate going on between those two especially after the school getting involved. It’s outrageous the mom would allow him to stay in the house after that incident. She was neglectful all throughout it and should be held accountable as well as the step father.
She doesn’t get the right to call herself a mother 🤢 the number one job any good parent has is to protect love and care for their kids no matter what, she failed, she is a disgraceful excuse for a mother and human
you think that her mother was having sex with him? that's the only way I could imagine a mother acting that way after her child told her she was being abused.
I try to be a decent person, I think I do ok most of the time. But I am having a really hard time having a lot of sympathy for the mother. I am very sorry for the loss of her child, but it does seem that little girl was put last. That just sucks. Speaking as a child who was last but luckily lived
I'm nearly half way through and I absolutely hate Lucy's mother😢😢. How on earth can a mother be so naive and neglectful of her gorgeous daughter. She is despicable. I have a son and I was always very conscious of the fact that some adults prey on single mothers and children. She had been warned by a school previously about the issue, and preferred to think more highly of the preditor, than her vulnerable daughter.
More than people realize, and most of them are women when you have sons. I've had a woman in her 40's tell me that my 12yr old didn't have to be so sexy! WTF?!! No you sick b!tch, you're just a pedophile and sick in the head.. I can't count how many times I've had grown women looking my sons up and down and making disgusting comments towards them..
I heard that mum was also sl33ping with him, maybe just a rumour but her actions towards her daughter and her protecting him leans more towards it being true x
The mother and the father should never ever forget how they FAILED their daughter, especially the mother because if she had acted within the very first time she was told about her daughter's situation promptly with protection and safety her daughter, would still be alive today. Her mother's a complete and utterly useless piece of 💩 💩 💩. RIP peace angel heart. 😪😪💗💗💗
Hi Emma 👋 I'm in Lake Macquarie, Australia and it's 11.15pm so I will very much be asleep when u go live 😴 however I will very much be listening in later in the day. I'm a courier, so I listen to Ur videos whilst driving through my workday. Making sure to drop the volume when stopped at traffic lights 😳 I'm turning 40 in a few months and can totally relate to so many of Ur comments and points of view, I feel like a kindred spirit lol. Anyway, I think u are amazing at what u do and how u do it. I have nothing but praise for Ur compassion, respect and genuineness. Keep telling the truths Lady Kenny 💙
I don't understand how a Mum who describes her daughter in such glowing terms wouldn't believe that child when she says she's being abused, especially when it's not the first time that accusation is being made.
I'm so angry with Lucy's Mom! She was told so many times that something was going on but took no action. Yes as a mother myself it must be absolutely heartbreaking to lose a child, but in my opinion her mother helped with her child's demise by not listening to everyone's concerns 😢
I'm sorry, but what responsible mother of a 12 year old girl has a young man in his early 20s with a background like his move in under the same roof with your daughter? No pass for this mom from beginning to end!
You are just amazing in your capacity for empathy. I feel nothing but contempt and anger for that woman who said her daughter was fantasizing and needed to snap out of it, removed her from a school where adults cared enough to report potential abuse, and just failed to exercise the most fundamental maternal care for her daughter's well-being. When she mourns that beautiful girl, I hope she takes full account of her willful ignorance and avoidance of difficult truths because they're "hard to deal with." Having that sick MFer taunting her about Lucy is his way of rubbing all of that avoidance in her face. Sorry, I can't be more understanding of the woman. She had far too many opportunities to wake the F up and do something before things went off rails. For my own shortcomings, I fully appreciate your consistent balance of compassion, empathy, yet holding them to account. I hold you in high regard for these things, Thank you for covering this, It's gutted me, and I am incandescent in my rage at yet another AWFUL story, but your words do sometimes manage to ground me a bit. These victims MUST be remembered, their monsters must be exposed, and the lessons that can be learned must be learned.
Emma, I am so concerned by the lack of focus on the parent's, particularly the mother's lack of appropriate care and awareness! I have worked with predators, their victims, and their victim's families and the common thread through many parents and carers is that they knew something wasn't right but chose not to confront the situation. Yes, the mother has suffered great loss, but she also shares culpability in the death of her daughter. Such a lack of demonstrated love for her daughter!!
This was very very local to me, and so sad. Lucy was failed by her mum! She should be rotting as well as mums bf along with Steven. More to the story then meets the eye ❤❤ rip Lucy you’ll never be forgotten Xx
I dont have kids but i allowed someone to stay with me one time she spanked the puppy i had and i made her leave immediately another one yelled at my dog and i made her leave too. So i cannot imagine allowing someone to yell at my child even once and them still living under my roof. Then add on all the information she had been told about her daughter being victimized by an adult. She had so many chances to save her daughter.
I remember when I was young and first SA'd, I thought I was hiding it well but my brother came and spoke to me and asked me why I was acting out, that my parents were worried (this was over a month and it was clear there was something very very wrong) and I broke down crying. I couldn't tell my parents so he did. I do think it's incredibly hard for people to speak out to parents - to anyone really, but in my experience friends and other close people are the first to know about these things.
@@marianaitmg6333Some people cope better by internalising trauma, it’s just more comfortable for them. It’s more traumatic to see the pain in others eyes. I’m not saying this is the case for Berja but I know personally that I’m more comfortable with that. There are things I’ve told friends that I could never tell my family. I know that isn’t unusual because I have many friends who have dealt with things the same way
There is no way on earth I would have moved a young man into my daughters home. Their daughter ought to have been top priority. We need to treat our daughters safety with the utmost importance and care. No pass for the mother and father! They are culpable.
I find it respectful how you talk about her assaults from her POV - not because it’s right. but it just gives her a voice as a victim, the things she felt and genuinely believed even though it was grooming. I really think that makes a difference in your videos by empathising with victims ❤
Thank you for covering this case. It happened in my home city. So many layers to this case. The step dad did have bonfires on the days she was missing and his allegiance was with the killer not Lucy. It’s almost impossible to believe that they didn’t know what was going on.
I was groomed and abused by a 17 year old man when I was just 12. I had a huge crush on him. I also developed a really unhealthy view on sex. And sexual relationships that I still cope with today. My experience with this "man" lasted just a short time. I cant even imagine a year. And the violence she was subjected to for that long. What else was going on with the family that the mum didn't want to get the services involved?? That's what I want to know. Even if Lucy had the chance to tell her mum would she have been believed.. I guess we will never know. Protect your kids at all costs. Believe them EVERYTIME
Emma, this is why I love you so much! This case was horrifying. Your little rants in between the case details are what make these cases bearable to hear. It's like a small break to catch my breath & have a laugh before hearing more horror. Yours is the only true crime channel that gives me that. Thank you❤️
I just can’t give the mum any kind of benefit of the doubt I’m 31 with a 13 year old so the same as her mum and I can’t even imagine having a 22 year old partner never mind letting his friends anywhere near my kids or moving them into my house!!!
This is such a horrible case. How did the parents miss the warning signs? And not listen to the schools? I just can’t. There’s no way I’d ignore those things. Complete strangers were seeing it. But, as always, a wonderful job Emma, bringing the victim to life for us all and letting her memory live on.
I'm not sure I believe that they didn't know what was going on. The way it has played out suggests that they knew and allowed it go on. I feel like Lucy was served up to this dirty fu(k. Possibly due to drugs and/or the mother having a relationship with him. I have no real idea if its true of course, but get this feeling.
Your very lenient on the mother Emma. She sounds either completely dumb or morally reprehensible. She is MASSIVELY a contributing factor to her daughters death.
*EMMA* Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your presentation in Warrington last Thursday on Serial Killers. It was so interesting, funny, informative, and the inclusion of the crime scene photos, the video interviews with the killers showing their warped psyche, and the interaction with the audience made it a very enjoyable evening all round. You were so nice to me when I met you after the show (I was the lady with the walking stick), and I look forward to seeing more of your shows in the future, as I am sure other people would be interested in further shows you create as well. Once again, thanks for a great evenings entertainment.

You are my fave on various TV shows - I would watch far more of your videos if they were a bit shorter and had more footage, interrogations etc - think you could be one of the top channels. Thank you! 🚀
The mum 100% did not protect her daughter and no way should he of been ever left near her ,I dont live far and on Facebook when this happened not many in Southampton had a good thing to say about the mum ,Lucy didn't stand a chance 😢😢😢😢 he obviously is a disgusting human and should be held accountable
Emma, I absolutely love and admire the empathy, love and understanding you have for the innocent victim and their family in all the cases you cover. I must admit to being in conflict with you over this 'parent', if Lucy had lived, she would have had to live all of her life with the fact that her 'mother' did not believe her, did not even question what she was told at least three times about what this monster was doing to her child. I know the monster is completely to blame, but if the schools' concerns (and the friends parent) were taken seriously by the mother, Lucy would most likely be alive today, and the beast in prison for child abuse xxx
Emma, thank you for the eloquent and sensitive explanation of Childhood Crush... why it happens and how. The natural process of it and how it should be handled for the child to grow through it and because of it.. And how it makes children vulnerable to predators..
The mother put the nail in Lucy’s coffin. She is to blame by allowing this monster in and turning a blind eye to the extent of moving schools. Who goes to the extreme of moving schools unless they have a something sinister to hide from the authorities.. it doesn’t make sense. This woman doesn’t deserve children let alone sympathy.
Respect to the teachers & the parents of Lucy's friend. As you say Emma 'risk offending'. It's properly with the most regret in the world that Lucy's guardians didn't act.
I guarantee the mother already had Social Services on her back, that's why she didn't want the extra attention. As if you would say your Daughter is telling lies about that. That's why Lucy didn't tell her because she knew her mother wouldn't believe her.
Emma, you’re so beautiful inside and your dedication to the victims in your videos is felt thru ur storytelling..just so you know we hear you & we feel your compassion. I SHOULD know better than to do my makeup WHILE WATCHING EMMA KENNY!
I'm sorry but do we know that the mother was not having relations with this scum. I'm finding it difficult to understand how a mother can miss so many red flags and call her own daughter a fantasist.
Your channel is the only commentary I like because like I don’t know, I feel like I just always agree with you anyways, I love your account, and you always make amazing videos and I love you!
Emma I love your true crime content, consistency, dedication and compassion. Beautiful inside and out. I reckon so many young people need someone like you. ❤❤❤.
What kind of mother does not believe her own daughter when she tells her she is being abused?disgusting , at least the school and her friends cared about her poor girl :(
I can’t wait for Emma to cover Nicola Bulley case… I’m still expecting something new to happen here and I don’t think it’s been to court yet but I honestly can’t wait for Emma’s deep dive on this one ❤
EMMA,PETE,ASH and sons CONGRATULATIONS 182K subs yeh!!💗💙💙💙💙🇬🇧 you deserve all of this 👋👋👋 The research and hard work dedicated to every single case.ALL victims have a voice especially on your Channel BRILLIANT xx
I feel sorry for any parent that has lost a child. I do feel however that her mom was negligent she was given enough warnings from schools and friends I mean come on
I'm struggling to feel much sympathy for Lucy's mother. She failed her daughter, and had so many people warn her about this. She refused to acknowledge reality, and Lucy paid the price.
I have three daughters and when they were in their teens, I watched them like a hawk all the time. They were not allowed to do a lot of stuff (which they now realise why) and I got the old 'well so and so's Mum said it was OK' and my reply was 'I don't care what other Mums say, you are not going/doing it/having whatever etc'. If I had a young man staying in my house at the time, I would have been very concerned as to what might happen; in fact, I would not have allowed it. My Husband and I were both working full-time at this point and my job was particularly demanding and difficult. However, because I WATCHED, I always knew what was going on. Kids are careless about leaving evidence around and they got found out and so they always knew I was on the watch. However, their misdemeanors were just the usual mild teenage stuff. What was this Mother doing? Why did she ignore the red flags? Why was their no vigilance? Unbelievable.
1:22:05 ... Thank you for another superbly done video. You have a unique style of presentation that includes empathy and sense of humor that gets me through lustening to the facts of the crime. Keep well.
I THINK HER MOTHER HAS ALOT TO ANSWER FOR IN THIS CASE! As a mother to a 12 year old this just would never happen under my roof and I can say that as a matter of FACT
When I was Lucy’s age, about 12, I had a crush on 1 of my big brothers friends. He was 5 years older than me. I thought that he was so handsome & “cool”. Of course he found it amusing! We moved away & I met him again when I was in my early 20’s. I know that my brother invited him over when I was visiting intentionally. He knew that it would be funny!.. …finally, my childhood crush was single. I was grown & mature AND single! We met in a pub for Sunday lunch. 😳 OMG! What on earth was wrong with my 12 year old self? It was the longest hour of my life. AND the fastest I’ve ever ate my Sunday roast!! 🤣
No. Her mother does not get a pass. I had that mother. 13yrs old drunk at a party and was raped by 3 men. Mother told me it was best we forget it happened. I would look like a slut and she'd be blamed. How could I be so reckless and put her in this position. I spent the next 4 years choosing to sleep with men in their 40s, weaponizing sex to regain control. I don’t recommend it as a form of therapy. Like my mother, she put her own fear of being blamed for her daughter being raped by a known predator, that she placed under his nose. I guarantee she made her feel ashamed for willfully carrying on as if she had any control in that situation. No. You're right, Lucy deserved better.
That mother belongs in prison for gross child neglect and endangerment. No sympathy for her, she had multiple sources warn her and she ignored them all and blamed her child. Disgusting woman.
Mom and dad need their asses kicked on the daily, how could you choose someone over your own child? They continually ignored the schools and the friend telling them about the abuse! Sorry Emma, they haven't endured enough, they should've had charges pressed for the neglect and abuse this child suffered. They covered for him because I think he was their drug connect, the parents own dirty little secrets got her killed.
I thought this was fffing hold did he have over them. This is one of the rare times I don't agree with Emma .. they are shit parents turning a blind eye. F them
Hi Emma, I absolutely love your videos and hopefully with be seeing you on tour soon. Anyway, I came across a extremely sick individual called Andrew Innes from Scotland. He was sentenced in February of this year. He is a horrible evil man! Xxxx
I really hope he's suffering in prison. Hopefully after some other inmates have served him their own justice, they tell him "chin up" just like the text he sent to Lucy's mother. He makes me sick. Fly high Lucy, you deserved so much better sweetheart.
Exactly this! She failed her child big time
I am finding it difficult to be compassionate towards the mum too..
Agree 100% let's hope this is at least a lesson to nonchalant parents.
I hope they've learned from the experience I really do but like Emma said, the best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour 😳 😔
Poor sweet Lucy. RIP angel 🙏 🌸 🐻
Completely agree Poor Lucy 😢
Just want to add ...LOOK at him. Is mum blind???
I actually knew a mother who was totally unaware that her husband & the child's biological father was molesting said child. So I guess it CAN happen.
The mother should be charged with wilful neglect and child endangerment.
💯💯💯
Absolutely. Her actions or lack thereof are utterly contemptible and criminal. She should be in prison receiving prison justice on the daily. I sincerely hope karma finds her.
Absolute failure 😡
She has had a new baby. The baby and the.10 year son should be removed from her. She's not.fit
I agree her mother protected her 22 year old boyfriend. She never even reported that beautiful child missing
For not “allowing” her the maternal right to worry about me when I was so “covert”
Yeah, likely.
She should be charged with wilful neglect and child endangerment
@@BeckBeckGo I get what you mean but Lucy's case is different. They can hear them fighting in the house and the monster calling her names. Aside from that 2 schools and Lucy's friend's parents TOLD her but she didn't believe it and chose to ignore it. Not everything is known by our parents (I was known as the quiet and good girl but rebelled in my own way)
It was obvious something was wrong with Lucy and people in that house didn't give an F.
yes, she was an ignorant in denial. the school alerted that safeguarding organisation and in response to that she got a hissy fit and moved her to another school. -I have no idea how and why this would stop the investigation, since the report was already made, and that safeguarding organisation should have done their job-I don't know how that works. she also ignored the guy calling her daughter names. so I agree with You.
@@EmmaDaisy Correct!
Likely stoned on weed
I agree
The mom has to have a track record of mindless choices.
I can understand not even imagining that anything so awful could be happening in your home. I really do. The evidence really started to stack-up in this case. As soon as I got a call from the school I’d be on high alert & he’d be out of my home!!
Wouldn’t have this man in my house near my children anyway 🙄😒
As I listen to this I can’t help but get angrier and angrier with her mother I’m sorry. Her mother brought this into the home and when the school lets her know what does she do throw him out in case nope she switches her daughters school SHAME ON HER MOTHER
And stepfather.
Can we please not let THE BESTIE OF THE KILLER off the hook here?
@@BeckBeckGo I wonder what he knew/ did to her as well.. how could these people live like this. Horrible people.
And stepfather
Like she doesn’t find it concerning that her 12 year old is “fantasizing” about being assaulted by the man who is literally a room across from hers? Hearing that once will get me to intervene immediately. Like come on, two schools, an older cousin, concerned friends and a concerned parent and she still think her daughter is lying??? She even heard him screaming at her kid and cussing at her but she still thought Lucy was in the wrong??
Makes me wonder if the Mom wasn't messing around with him too...hmmm
@TheHORRORofitall I wouldn't doubt that, the mother seemed like she was more interested in protecting him rather than her own daughter.
I cannot and will not give Lucy's mother a pass. She knew enough of what was happening to keep the guy in the home. She also transferred Lucy to another school sooner than allow the agency to be able to investigate what was going on. Lucy told her what was going on, yet that bastard was allowed continued access to her.
Why on earth do these mothers not believe their children????
Exactly
If my child came to me (which he would) and said that someone had hurt, touch or made him touch etc I would not question if he's telling the truth. Straight to the police 100% (I'd have to go straight to police or I'd be in jail and that person would be missing a body part)
Because their selfish cunts who don't want the drama
I've experienced a parent turning a blind eye to psychological abuse and It still hurts 30 years later.
Her mother was only interested in her own.young.toy boy. She should be Criminally Charged
Holy shit!!! The comments from Southampton are mind bowing. They were completely complicit. Thank you so much.
I have 3 sons and in no way in hell would I bring anyone into my home under no circumstances. My children are above all. Not even a boyfriend.
Dont hate on the tarantula. The irony here is that tarantulas are very maternal.
Totally agree. The default position should be to believe your children unless proven otherwise.
Well said totally agree 💯👍
I can’t imagine loosing a child like that. We lost a child who was only 16 years old to leukemia. It destroyed her parents and we as a family endured this loss. A life not lived, a horrible death. I was only 4 at that time , till this day, I’m 51 now, I mourn my dear Rosemaries death. She was so loved. Loosing a child to a predator must be so much worse. A child is an unbelievable gift, so precious.
I am so sorry for your unimaginable loss....
Bless your heart & may your beloved Rosemary be filled with love & joy in your mind always. I lost my brother. It utterly shattered my family. It’s hard, isn’t it?
Soo sorry for both of your losses i cant even begin to imagine the pain x

I love your longer explanation of how children have natural crushes on older role models and normal adults will find it cute and endearing, but we know how to handle the situation gently.
Most others that have told stories like this gloss over this quickly because it's such a sensitive topic to discuss. Thank you for explaining it so in depth! ❤
I'm very surprised by your attitude towards Lucy's mother in this video, Emma. I think she has a lot of blame in this situation.
And stepfather.
I’ve had to mass remind you people that there were two parents here. It’s concerning.
??
This isn't the first video either. I really like Emma but it's off putting how she continues to let these POS parents off the hook, even saying they deserve our sympathy 🙄. Wonder if she reads the comments as she's been called out for it in previous cases she's covered.
Omg, what were they thinking, letting Nicholson into their home.
@@BeckBeckGo she chose him as well… obviously she is a terrible judge of character. She didn’t put HER daughter first….
He admitted sending a message to the teenager's mother Ms White saying: "I'm going to end up punching Lucy."
Ms White replied: "If you punch a child you will end up in jail so is it worth it, seriously?"
They’re awful people.
Despicable!
💯💯💯
He should never have been in their daughters home to begin with!
She doesn’t get the right to call herself a mother 🤢 the number one job any good parent has is to protect love and care for their kids no matter what, she failed, she is a disgraceful excuse for a mother and human
I totally agree.
you think that her mother was having sex with him? that's the only way I could imagine a mother acting that way after her child told her she was being abused.
HONESTLY MORE THAN LIKELY!! It would explain why she allowed him to move in without so much as hesitation too.

I'm so angry with Lucy's Mom! She was told so many times that something was going on but took no action. Yes as a mother myself it must be absolutely heartbreaking to lose a child, but in my opinion her mother helped with her child's demise by not listening to everyone's concerns 😢

I just can’t give the mum any kind of benefit of the doubt I’m 31 with a 13 year old so the same as her mum and I can’t even imagine having a 22 year old partner never mind letting his friends anywhere near my kids or moving them into my house!!!
An excellent analysis Emma...that poor little girl...her "mother" is a disgrace
What was Lucy's mum actually thinking...?
She wasn't, she didn't care. I pretty sure she tried to make money from Lucy's murder!
@@k_j_n1242It is all very suss
Saw you tonight in Brighton! You are such a gem, we must protect you at all costs! So informative and your just great 😌
Her mother absolutely knew what was happening. My initial thought was she was jealous of the attention her daughter was getting from him.
Same or they were sleeping together on the side
Sorry, but Lucy’s mum!!! WTF.
Your very lenient on the mother Emma. She sounds either completely dumb or morally reprehensible. She is MASSIVELY a contributing factor to her daughters death.
Terrible mother, Lucy didn’t stand a chance. 😢
*EMMA*
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your presentation in Warrington last Thursday on Serial Killers.

🤪😜😎X
You are my fave on various TV shows - I would watch far more of your videos if they were a bit shorter and had more footage, interrogations etc - think you could be one of the top channels. Thank you! 🚀
The mum 100% did not protect her daughter and no way should he of been ever left near her ,I dont live far and on Facebook when this happened not many in Southampton had a good thing to say about the mum ,Lucy didn't stand a chance 😢😢😢😢 he obviously is a disgusting human and should be held accountable
Your shows make my week. Love to all, especially Dolly, your amazing kitty, and all your other furbabies ❤
Another fantastic video Emma. Love the way you've brought up how much power Lucy actually had, in the end. Rest in beautiful paradise Lucy ❤
Mum 30 , boyfriend 22 , red flag immediately.
And I'm betting he had a criminal record.
As a mom it's heart breaking I thank you for the way you tell us about that beautiful child x
Sadly, vulnerability is a fly paper for twisted and evil people, they can perceive it and can't wait to take advantage of it. Another poor victim 😓
Exactly
The parents may well be argued to not have been the perpetrators but they were the enablers of the abuse.
I love the way you put the victims of each case up front. Respect to you Emma Kenny 👌 ❤.
It’s the only one that goes in the much details and I love her passion.
@@wongo79 yesss she’s so thorough with everything and explains it so well I don’t think I’ll ever stop watching her
There is NO WAY her mother didn't know!! I'm sorry But she let this happen....😢 What a Monster!!
Emma I love your true crime content, consistency, dedication and compassion. Beautiful inside and out. I reckon so many young people need someone like you. ❤❤❤.
What kind of mother does not believe her own daughter when she tells her she is being abused?disgusting , at least the school and her friends cared about her poor girl :(
Always love your summing up.
I can’t wait for Emma to cover Nicola Bulley case… I’m still expecting something new to happen here and I don’t think it’s been to court yet but I honestly can’t wait for Emma’s deep dive on this one ❤
Is there more to know? I didnt know there was a court case?
EMMA,PETE,ASH and sons CONGRATULATIONS 182K subs yeh!!💗💙💙💙💙🇬🇧 you deserve all of this 👋👋👋 The research and hard work dedicated to every single case.ALL victims have a voice especially on your Channel BRILLIANT xx
I feel sorry for any parent that has lost a child. I do feel however that her mom was negligent she was given enough warnings from schools and friends I mean come on
Love your channel even though it can be hard listening sometimes because of the nature of the crimes. Keep up the great work. 🙏
The mother failed on every level I’m sorry she has lost her daughter but she let her poor daughter down!
Thank you Em.
My heart is broken. Not only for her death, but for the pain she had to suffer while her little body was violated. It kills me
Where was her mother in all this?
I would NEVER have allowed him in my daughters home. He wouldn't have been there in the first place!
1:22:05 ... Thank you for another superbly done video. You have a unique style of presentation that includes empathy and sense of humor that gets me through lustening to the facts of the crime. Keep well.
As soon as I heard the mothers and her partners age , I already knew where this story was heading….
Yes me too
Some of the most misogynist people are other women. Mom sacrificed her girl to please her boyfriend and his user friend.
I THINK HER MOTHER HAS ALOT TO ANSWER FOR IN THIS CASE! As a mother to a 12 year old this just would never happen under my roof and I can say that as a matter of FACT
You are my favourite true crime person thank you so much for your show 😁
Poor poor Lucy!! 😢
WTF were the other adults in the house doing??? Absolutely disgusting that they didn’t help this child 🤬
Absolute neglect
…AND he didn’t have his motorbike anymore!
…AND he cut all his lovely, long, rockstar hair off!
…AND we had NOTHING in common!
@@wolfrahmphosphoros5808 😊❤️✨ I live my rose tinted glasses…but I keep my feet firmly on the ground!
…he was so thick & really immature. 😂
F them
💯💯💯
I agree. I don't think they missed the signs, I think they knew.
Agree 💯!!!
Makes absolute sense & completely agree 💯💯
You look at things in the best way possible. Love it.
Hi Emma, I absolutely love your videos and hopefully with be seeing you on tour soon. Anyway, I came across a extremely sick individual called Andrew Innes from Scotland. He was sentenced in February of this year. He is a horrible evil man! Xxxx
Ahhh yes, you can watch the episode I’ve done on him here 😉 th-cam.com/video/PoJjtKQySpI/w-d-xo.html
Totally love your videos ❤
I really hope he's suffering in prison. Hopefully after some other inmates have served him their own justice, they tell him "chin up" just like the text he sent to Lucy's mother. He makes me sick. Fly high Lucy, you deserved so much better sweetheart.
