This is the best pre-game speech of all times, hands down. Grab a root and hang on, hang on. Put your foot on their balls and believe in it, words of wisdom.
*Questions* How many takes are we talking ? Also, how much of Pauls monologue was script vs improvisation? I feel like there was some personal word choice being ad-libbed in lol
Parts filmed in Thomas Jefferson Gym. One day filming Robert Downey Jr was asking me about where to eat a good burger. I told him go to little Hipps he was like cool. Super nice guy
I saw this movie in the theater when I was in high school. It is a fun and entertaining movie that has been unfairly given bad reviews after Roger Ebert wrote an strange, overly-harsh review. Other critics decided to copy his negative review. I honestly don't know anyone who saw "Johnny Be Good" who didn't enjoy it.
Nice film connections in this: AMH and Paul Gleason both from 'The Breakfast Club', then AMH and RDJ both from 'Weird Science'. And Uma Thurman thrown in for good measure! LOL
Steve James plays the coach from State he was also in Weird Science. AMH meets him in the bar scene and then he is seen working the bar at the house party. He goes on to say to RDJ "i'll tell you what, why you bend over and i'll shove straight up yo ass". After RDJ asks for the whole bottle of scotch.
I love when Paul Gleeson (The Coach) punches the water cooler on the way out. And he’s remark after Hall says he broke his dick. “Well rub some dirt on it and get back out there”. I don’t understand the cuts they made to the DVD. I remember on the vhs version that during the strip club Johnny got on stage and then they took some of the dancer to the frat house and partied all night. There’s a scene when the guy carrying the kegs out of the gas station smashes one on his head and severely dents it. Plus the at the strip club one of old Texas boys underpays the guy who was driving those players around. He was the one who bought Texas sushi from a vendor bait machine. It’s wired that they would cut those scenes. Especially since the running time is only 87 minutes.
I went to a catholic HS. I can attest to the absolute fact....you pray for 30seconds...and then it becomes a hysterical Neanderthal Fest of Sailor Speak. Nothing like a Men's Lockerroom😂
Only the glorious 80s could pull off this absolute classic scene! Love it!!!
Hands down best movie locker room speech ever LOL!
Paul gleason was badass as the football coach in this movie and the breakfast club with Anthony Michael Hall. The 80s were famous.

Hall and Downey had tremendous chemistry in this film. It helped that they were both on coke at the time.

I'd love to see a reaction video during this speech with a millennial. That could be a whole new idea for a TH-cam channel.
