Hey Too, you got her running cool. Awesome and ran good. Talking about small fast boats. Guy up here in Seattle is selling a 13.5 ft mini hydro for 500 bucks. It has the numbers on it that they ran in competition. Has steering and control on it too. Just needs a good old Kiekenhaufer race motor on it. Get for a young guy since it's one of those kneel down things. My knees wouldn't handle it very long.
The grommet for the water tube is most likely swollen to 1/2 its size. Maybe jam a coat hangar up there . Not sure if you have one, but an el cheapo borescope works well too. Invaluable for hooking the ole peepers on a swollen grommet!
Motor Up Bow Up, Motor Down Bow Down. Of course you already know this but somebody may not. Several years ago like 25 now I had a 1950's 7.5 (with just a clutch knob to disengage the prop) Gold and Blue Evinrude come in the shop that was overheating, had that thing apart several times as it didn't have a thermostat trying to figure it out, couldn't find any issues like bad impeller, orings or blockages in the lower end, but still couldn't get water flow through the power head. Finally Pulled the head and found a homemade head gasket with No passages cut in it for water flow. I questioned the owner and he stated he had it to another shop to have a blown head gasket replaced and then they couldn't get water flow and couldn't figure out why. Installed an OEM Head Gasket and all was well. Great Trouble Shooting on this Issue👍
Great story! Yeah I did know but its been so long since I've had to adjust a trim pin I had to step back in the old memory banks! Hahaha Thanks again !
Had a similar issue on an outboard, found pieces of rubber from a replaced impeller in the cooling system, you probably looked at that in the past. Cooling issues are masked by the rubber obstructions. Just a thought.
Same issue here. New impeller then stopped peeing after 2-3 hours and felt hot. New thermostat did nothing. Bought another new impeller and removed foot, nothing the matter with the one in it. Removed thermo, fitting holding pee tube, started and caught pee water in bucket. Someone-before I got it-had a dry rotted impeller go to pieces and the water jackets were full of it. Removed the foot and used high pressure water going both ways until i wasn't catching anything. 60-70 hours since, still fine.
That's pretty impressive for a 6, though. Very good motor for creeks and low-speed rivers. Very nice job getting that thing tweaked out! I like to think I keep mine running optimal; but I don't think they would push that boat around like yours.
You know, I would like to know what the temp of the exhaust water got up to there at the end. Both of mine never get too hot for my hands. I might have to flush mine through, too.
I used to run my kicker on the back of my boat next to my main… use to crawl at 4 mph… once I put the kicker in the front of the boat .. I started to FLY! At 25hp!! Weigh that sucker down in front!
Wow no kidding! The one problem is the transom is to short, motor is to deep by a couple inches. He's gonna fix that and get his battery and stuff up front. Thanks again !
That 6Hp runs great they are fantastic kickers.Had the same exact motor few years back sold it on a 16Ft Aluminum boat with a 1978 35 Evinrude was as a kicker. All three the boat , 2 motors came from scrapyards, crazy. Anyhoo spent about three days on it off and on wouldnt pump at all. Had blocked side cover ,cylinder head & block and upper mid section below powerhead packed with salt it was the worst Id seen to date. Cleaned it all out still wouldnt pump with new pump. Turned out lower unit round wall below the stainless plate was missing a 1 1/2 section of the curved casting wall & wouldnt prime. So I changed gear case problem solved just a heads up 9.9-15 have the same problem..
Hey man, i am a long time fan and i have watched all of your videos. But the last 2 videos the image is hard to watch! not so smooth because of low framerate... Are you using a older camera these days? I remember you showed the new camera with the SUPER zoom on it a while back. That was verry nice to watch Kristal clear and smooth as butter. Keep up the good work....greetz from The Netherlands
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Yes I'm using two different cameras. The scenes at the lake are the new cam/Sony and the scenes at my place are with an older Cannon. I shot the video at 60fps, burned the video at 30 frames per second but youtube changed it to 15fps when I uploaded it. I don't know why. I have been using the 30fps for faster upload time which is youtube standard I believe. Anything I upload shot at 60fps gets changed to 30 and sometimes it takes a long time to upload. Thanks for letting me know ! Stay tuned !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Thanks for explaning! its crazy that youtube changes the framerate randomly. are they trying to save space on their servers ??! 15 Fps ? at first i thought you borrowed a camera from Kodibass! He sure likes them low res cameras
@@volunteermaupi4809 Yeah it looks good on my computer but I don't get it. I checked a couple of other vids. One from Darcizzle Offshore, hers was at 60 and the History Channel Oak Island and it was at 24. ? If you right click on any video a menu pops up and at the bottom is "Stats for Nerds". It gives you all the info. I dont think I've ever had one upload to 60fps. Thanks again !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Thats very strange! every vid i ever uploaded shows, running @60fps. like this one for example th-cam.com/video/sH2_1fi2N9s/w-d-xo.html I am an mechanic at the dutch navy, working on special forces boats
I got a used motor and had to pull the cylinder cover out because it was running hot. I found broken pieces of a water pump blocking the water passage inside the block. The area was inaccesible to pull the pieces out with a wire, it was really jammed in there. You already found sand and it may be just dirt or a mix of the two? Also in time debree and mud get stuck around the piston water passage. Take that cover off to be sure all is clean all in there. From the video I could only see a weak water stream output. If the pump is good (It seems it is) I suspect there is a restriction for sure.. I love your videos and have been a subscriber for a while. Keep up the good work and never loose your sense of humor. Until next...later!
Hey. Thanks man I really appreciate it. Yeah my crappy camera work, couldn't see the blubber hole in any of those shots, but the water is pouring out at a pretty good clip. If you watch the clip when JC, the owner, pulled away from the dock you can see it has a good stream. But we're gonna keep an eye on it! Thanks again & Stay tuned !
My 71 six horse Evinrude didn’t piss water, I had to remove head etc. and clear all the passages out full of sand. Replaced thermostat although it did open in hot water?
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. No I don't think the exhaust gaskets would match up. 70's are 3 cylinder and 50's are only 2. But if you find out different let me know ! Thanks again !
I’ll tell ya that top is causing the front to lift out of the water. It’s so light weight that when you gas it the air is causing it to lift up. Try it with it down and see if it helps
Hey. It's a Tropical Illusion! Hahaha. Really whats happening is the transom is to short. To much outboard in the water. He's gonna fix it. Thanks again !
I would just put one in and stop worrying about it now that winter is coming in. It's gotta reach temperature to run right, especially on a cold morning 1st start! Thanks!
I have a motor like that missing hood….I’ll gladly give to you…..I have no use for it…..it will take me a couple hours to get to where the motor is at an I can send you pics if your interested
Hey Kevin. Thanks for tuning in. Yeah I'd be happy to take it off your hands if its not a big pain in the azz for you. I'm assuming your local. Let me know! Thanks again & Stay tuned !
you're living the dream dude. Fixing shit and having fun. I envy you.

Trim down to get the bow down, lol. Not up. You can use some wood wedges on the transom in order to cheat a few more degrees down.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. All the down is not working. Turn out his transom is too short, motor too deep. He's gonna fix it! Thanks again !
Can you put a 50hp power head on a 70hp motor
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. No I don't think the exhaust gaskets would match up. 70's are 3 cylinder and 50's are only 2. But if you find out different let me know ! Thanks again !

The Bimini top is lifting that boat out of the water. Adjust the Bimini top lower in the front.
What????? Hardly
Maybe in a 50mph rocket haha
It Sure looks like it! Thanks for tuning in!
That’s what I was thinking also
Do I need a thermostat in a 1970 18 hp Evinrude? If I don’t need it I see no point in putting a new one in.
I would just put one in and stop worrying about it now that winter is coming in. It's gotta reach temperature to run right, especially on a cold morning 1st start! Thanks!
Trim out bow up trim in bow down
Yeah its been a long time since I had to adjust a trim pin. Big brain fart! Thanks again !
9:39 You better split or that woman is gonna make you work!!!
Hahaha. Yeah she's making me look bad! Thanks again !
