Glad to see the 20hp is getting figured out. Your persistence pays off. Wish I could have found a 2 stroke mechanic like you. And yea, that 18hp ran sweet. Great video work and thanks for sharing.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in! Yeah from my "Archives" Videos. That was actually two separate videos at two separate lakes- One year apart after it sat in my storage unit- It didn't miss a beat! Thanks again !
You've done a lot of work on the 20hp. I'm glad it's comig together for you. If it's a flip. I wouldn't change out jets, just tune her in good and clean her up for some cash.
another interesting series.I feel your pain on the pull start.Wasn’t sure if I commented on this one but I picked up a 73’ 25 like this cheap, rope and electric start that was locked upand in dire need of repair.Disected it .First time messing with one of these.Coils mounted on head instead of under flywheel.Lower crank bearing seized on crank.Too many things needed replaced$$$$.Parting out.Curious, those starter brackets worth much?Starter also turns but gear won’t stay up assume it’s turning too slow.
One question bud . Where would you suggest to run the battery cables to ? I've had a look at mine tonight and am having a hard time trying to pick a good spot for the leads to come out . I want it to look neat and not get in the way when steering the outboard if that makes sense . Cheers
Hey. what I've done is use the kill button hole for the cables and drill two holes on the left & right front side corners for the kill and starter buttons- I put the kill button on the left side and the starter button on the right side- That way they're far enough apart and you/I won't be hitting the starter button when I want to kill it! You can get those waterproof rubber buttons at any auto parts store and they look similar to the original ones.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Try marineengine.com, boats.net and ebay. I have a 1970 60 hp Evinrude with remote. It's got good compression, that's all I know about it. If you're looking for a parts motor and live in the area you can have it for $150. Thanks !
That timing thing always moves when I put it on start and try pulling it the pulling messes with it and I can't get this thing to run I've put countless #s of carb cleaner and a squirt bottle with two stroke and I can either get it to fire once and it's good or it never works. I've cleaned carb multiple times and new spark plugs and get great spark. But somethings up with that timing thing I don't get it
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Did you clean the low speed circuit. Those tiny holes need to be poked through - no amount of carb cleaner will clean them. Check out my carb cleaning video if need be- "The two most important things".
I don’t know why they started using that plastic crap the old aluminum was the best plastic and or nylon junk never lasted like aluminum see you in the next one 👍🏻🤘🏻
I enjoyed watching the saga of the 20hp. Thanks for your efforts.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Stay tuned !
enjoyable when a problem outboard is sorted and, penciled out now, hit the started , hear her run another outboard brought back to life. " cheer's "
Thank You !
