    I keep this video in my saves. I always go back to refer to how many chains and getting started. Once I have that reminder, it’s so easy..which I appreciate very much!! These have become the most requested dishcloths by family and friends.

    I love the waffle stitch for a dishcloth. Made a babyblanket once with this stich. Now I am making this dishcloth, but I keep ending up with one dc to manny. I've been starting over 3 times and I just don't get it right. 35 chains, dc in the third from the hook, so you get 33 dc's, chain one, turn, dc in the first stitch, then crochet around the next and 2 in the top. Go on till the end. But after the last set I have to go around the next and then
    I have 1 dc left and the chain 2. I keep counting and counting, but I don't know were I'm going wrong. Please help.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If on your first row it’s now coming out correctly, you can make a dc in between the last dc and the ch 2. Everything should still come out evenly after that. Hope that helps!

    I’m getting so frustrated. I was able to successfully complete one dishcloth just fine. The second one is giving me trouble, because I end up with too many double crochets on the first row. How many are there supposed to be? 33 or 32 double crochets for row one?

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  ปีที่แล้ว

      The waffle stitch can be a little tricky. For your first row, you should have a total of 33 double crochets. Hope that helps!

    • @shoushoubea
      @shoushoubea 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      She has 32 DC plus the chain. I had an issue too, watched this video over and over, and watched her other waffle stitch pattern video th-cam.com/video/5nDFrJU2ta4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YYFVYdMSx_6VRvlo in that video she actually counts out all of the chain. And when she got to the end of row 1, after the last FPDC, she has one DC plus the chain left. In this video, at the end of row 1, after the last FPDC, she only has 1 chain left. Since the number of DC should be a multiple of 3, that’s an indication she’s one short. I think it actually works out better this way, and it’s a beautiful pattern. Many thanks to the author for sharing. I just HAD to figure out where I went wrong😂

  • @staceyemanuel7384
    @staceyemanuel7384 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I wanted to make it smaller, would I just use multiples of 5? Or a different calculation? I am fairly beginner, but I love this pattern and it's making me look like a pro!

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you wanted to make this smaller, you would need to make the dishcloth in multiples of 3. You will only add 2 more chains to the very end once you’re satisfied with the width. Hope that helps! Good luck 😊🧶

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The raised stitches in between are from working the front post double crochets. This should show up more prominent once you make more rows. I’m actually thinking about making my videos more accessible for lefty’s. Thanks for the inspiration 😊🧶

      When you make new dishcloth videos, I have a suggestion for you. Especiably for some of your blind and visually impaired viewers, such as myself, I was wondering if you could say in the video how many rows you are doing of whatever the pattern is before you get to how many ever inchesa especially when you're trying to make a square shape, as is the case for a washcloth. This would be helpful if you don't have a tape measure on hand. I realize everyone's tension is different, but that would help to give a rough estimate if that makes sense. Your videos keep getting better, Amanda. Keep up the awesome work.

    • @AmandaCrochets

  • @lahraewirtz7404

    I'm unsure about this, it doesn't seem to be very square. Usually when you do a double crochet, you are turning and then chaining 2. Can you explain why you only chain 1, and then on the 3rd row you use the turn chain as one of the stitches you put a double crochet in? This seems very odd, and in the video you can see that your row bows out a bit. Just wanting some clarification on that? Thanks, I do like this pattern, trying to figure out the rows though, as I really prefer to just use the cloth without a border stitching.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is how the waffle stitch is done. I’m just following the guidelines of how this stitch is made. Once the dishcloth is made, it does tend the stretch out a little bit. Not sure if the waffle stitch is made another way, but this is the way that I learned. 😊

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can’t say for sure as I haven’t made a king size blanket, so the best advice I can give is to keep chaining in a multiple of 3, lay your chain over your king bed and see if you like the width of it. Once you’re satisfied with the width, you will add 2 chains to the very end. If I had to guess, I’d say around 285 chains.
