An outstanding review. I own several Buck knives, including the Buck 124 Frontiersman and Buck 119. There is absolutely no comparison between the 124 and 119. The 124 is twice the knife of the 119, and it is a beast!! If you want the ultimate do it all or "ship" hits the fan knife that will turn heads everytime you bring it out, look no further than the 124. It would be great if the Buck Custom Shop would offer the 124 in Magnacut steel instead of the standard 420HC, but then again....Buck would probably want $300 - 400 bucks for the knife then too.
@@TheShamanOfShank I agree, 100 percent. People have been screaming at Buck for years to do a Magnacut 124. Yes, it would be painfully expensive, but they would sell like crazy.
My parents gave me one of the original ones in 1971 or something like that they had it engraved with my name and the date I gifted the knife to my son since his name is the same as mine and I consider the knife now a family heirloom I'm enjoying my 119 and my 120 but now I miss my 124 so I'm going to have to buy another one. these knives are literally indestructible

You have probably already sorted out the kydex sheath fit issue. I just adjusted my Böker neck knife kydex sheath to stop the knife from rattling. I warmed up the emlty sheath with my wife's hair dryer and then kept the openi g pressed for a few minutes. It was enough to tighten it so the knife does not rattle anymore.
@@kokehri I used my wife’s hair dryer too and it kind of helped but I probably need to hit it again to loosen it some more. The guy I got it from told me to heat it and keep pulling the knife in and out then when I felt it was right leave the knife in and let it set. I’m just taken back that it’s not a perfect fit since it was made with a basic 124! Oh well. Glad that Boker kydex got right for you brother!
@@marksaint2936 I can completely understand that since they aren’t out in stores to pick up and feel. It is a HAWSE but feels good! I wouldn’t say as nimble as a 119 or 120 but definitely a great piece to add to the collection and to use! I’m glad you enjoyed brother!
I could be mistaken because I don't have the knife with the paperwork with me but I think that this knife says it's 6:00 and 3/8 of an inch on the blade but when I measured mine I do know this it was 6 and 5/8 of an inch which is pretty damn close to 7 in if we're being honest only 3/8 difference but it is a great knife thanks for the video I just started following this Channel and watching quite a few of these videos got to say again great content

The issue with kydex is everyone has a preference in sheath retention. Wich means 90% of people are going to be dissatisfied. Its more productive for a sheath maker to make it tight and let you heat it up a bit and loosen it to your liking vs being to loose and trying to make it tighter. Making it tighter is risky and alote harder withought the exact jig the sheath maker used. Your sheath is made well as with time ittl loosen on its own and you can adjust it to your preference at any time to speed up the process
@TheShamanOfShank its good to heat up both sides pop the knife in and out a few times and if still not satisfactory. Pop the knife out to the exact point of open tension. Heat up " just enough" and let cool while still in this position. If you find it gets to loose in the end you can heat up without knife in sheath and let cool then try to put knife back in. Less is more as you don't want to over do the process and ruin your sheath. I Hope it works out for yah and good luck
