Former Army of Hessen- Darmstadt was not so small, about 6600 men Peacetime , but in 1914 , like all troops from Grandduchies and Duchies, part of prussian Army. The troops of Principalities and Free Towns officialy No more existed, the soldiers served in prussian Regiments. With exeption of prussian army, three other armies existed: Royal bavarian army / three corps, royal saxon army/ two corps, royal württembergian Army/ one corps.
