Our second video with Doug Flower, collector and friend of our Militaria Specialist, Matthew Tredwen! This time we talk to him about his fantastic collection of WW1 Militaria! This is the second video in our 'Collectors Showcase' series that we're hoping will prove popular with viewers and collectors!

I have my great-grandfather's hardtack biscuit from WW1. Why did he keep it? Well, apparently it was common for soldiers to define some items as totems of luck and in his case, he apparently went to get this piece of biscuit from a tin inside a dugout, when a mortar bomb exploded right where he had been standing. So, the hardtack biscuit he had randomly picked from a tin became his 'lucky piece'. And yes, he did survive the war. Private Henry Henderson MM, 1/7 Black Watch (Royal Highlanders).
