    Really nice DLC, finally no deserts and we get some nice forests dirt roads for once. If I can I will get this DLC.

    Listening to music on the in-game radio whilst driving in the night is probably,along with ETS2,the most relaxing game ever made!

  • @LossingP

    Just a heads up, pulling under 1000 rpm is pretty hard on a diesel. Optimal operating range is 1400 to 1800 rpm. When you run below 1400, the turbo doesnt spool up properly and can cause carbon build up on the valves leading to catastrophic failure. While not simulated properly in this game, it is worth noting.

    As an Oregonian, I approve. However Seaside, the bridge that goes into Astoria, well Seaside is just not there, at all lol. And that HUGE bridge you saw Jeff, that bridge goes over to Washington over the Columbia River that runs through the split of the states. Fun fact that Astoria was ran by British empire for a while. Lot's of rich history. Also Kindergarten Cop was filmed there, and not to forget, Goonies was shot there as well.

    With advanced trailer coupling on you absolutely can do a tug test prior to lifting the landing gear. Before you press your button to attach, do your tug test and it will be just like it is done in real life. I do it every single time I hook up to a trailer. There is no such game limitation.

  • @AJtheRatty

    Really enjoyed the preview. Portland looks fantastic! I live here, so it's a real treat. Got really giddy seeing all the details they hit (and shrugged at the details they had to condense or cut. c’est la vie
    If you ever get the opportunity to drive it in real life, the I-84 stretch from Troutdale to Hood River is amazing. The tunnel part you encountered is quite accurate and amazing when you catch a train passing.

    Being a real truck driver in the UK, Tug tests..... I ALWAYS raise the air suspension on the unit so the landing legs are clear of the ground before doing the tug test. Otherwise you risk bending the legs. Others don't, which is why there are so many bent, difficult to wind up legs on trailers!

    • @johan.ohgren
      @johan.ohgren 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe those who say that mean don´t raise it all the way up, just enough to get it off ground. And it makes sense, should it be a problem with the pin you don´t want the trailer to be so low you can´t reconnect it.

    You can do your tug test with the dolly legs down....just make sure you use advanced trailer coupling. Then as soon as you hit the king pin you can tug the trailer to check

    Would be cool if the truck and trailer gets dirty from the offroad path, and that you could go to a truck wash or something, that would add to the experience

    • @brandonplaisted8194

      Yes because then ATS AND BLUE BEACON. could team up for ads. or you know have a mom and pop truck wash which very common up in the northwest U.S. not very much blue beacon truck washes once you get off the main interstates. but either way trucks washes are a must OH. AND PAY THEM TO HAVE THE CHROME GET POLISHED. AND HAVE THE OPTION OF GETTING IT DETAILED ENGINE WASH THE WHOLE NINE JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE TRUCK WASHES. And have the option as well as different polishes and how it gets can get polished aka hand or buffer polished. Sorry am a trucker used to drive A very beautiful pete 389 decked in chrome and black paint with gold metal flakes in the paint. LOVED THAT TRUCK. so you can tell i loved leaving that beauty clean whenever i got the chance to give my beauitful pete a bath. BUT THE COMPANY I WORKED FOR SOLD IT. 😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔. OH well driving a glider kit 05 columbia now at another company now.

    It almost feels like a completely different game. I'm not used to so much green and trees. lol I'm not sure if you knew, but International has been confirmed to be coming. What I didn't know, was that Freightliner is also coming. On the SCS forums, Carthoo (an SCS dev team member) posted that they are working on the Lonestar and Cascadia. Those two trucks have been confirmed. I can't wait to see what SCS does with those two. They have the cad files, so they're gonna be good. He said they're 99% good to go for the licensing, but wanted to leave 1% for some catastrophe if it were to happen.
    Speaking of Spintires, have you followed the American Wilds DLC at all? They've showcased the Hummer H1, Chevy K5 Blazer, a Western Star semi, and the FLD 120. They also showed some of the American style map they're working on.

    There's nothing wrong with Jake braking down a hill in rain since all it does is send exhaust through the engine. No actual brakes are applied which is why most truckers put the up the middle finger to Engine brakes prohibited signs!

    • @kaleckton
      @kaleckton 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eh except for the inexperienced drivers relying on it on max setting then start sliding in a groove of water which causes the trailer to push the tractor which causes the driver to hard brake and they wind up on the side of the road jackknifed. That's the main reason most companies ban engine braking in rain or snow.

    Came down US 191 IRL today. You can't have trucks over 40 ft that includes your trailer, and that's north of the mine. The mine is actually in Morenci AZ which is about 4 miles north of Clifton. I can see why they don't allow trucks up there, narrow roads, no where to go if you go over 15 because if you do go over 15 for almost all of 191 you're going over. Went down smoking the brakes in 1St gear using that as a brake too because they were gonna go out if I didn't. I did have a trailer on, just under 40 ft total bit had over 8k lbs loaded on. Very hard drive from alpine AZ to morenci before it gets somewhat nice and straight roads. That may be 90 miles but it takes well over 3 hours. To get there. Overall you do get the feel of the straighter parts of 191 but it's really just a ton of big slopes that scare you and turns that you almost have to stop to go around. It's nearly impossible to be in your lane even with a smaller trailer. Great scenery up there with all the colors of fall.

    Log truck driving is fun in ATS . Not in real life though because your really top heavy. It's kinda scary did it 3 times and never doing it again. I wasn't bad at it but it was scary. And the crew I worked for at the time had a 388 peterbilt. It was a nice truck but too nice for logging.

      @@christophernarmore6578 nice this one only was a 2 truck operation. They had a 388 and a 379. The 379 blew up while I was working for their and the 388 I think their still using. Don't work there anymore so idk.

    People tend to not remember how badly detailed Haulin, and PTTM where or any other 18 wos game was before ATS. While we may have only what? 5 states right now I still never get tired of it, and I also understand sims. Especially trucking sims. Are a niche market with smaller more methodical studios. Im fine with the Pace of ATS Im sure. Also SCS changed their map making process half way through this year including a rescale so they've been busy. I look forward to the 2-4 states well get in 2019 and beyond. The product and mod community make it worth while.

      Yeah the map scale is reduced for better game play. Same with the Europe one. The company has to economise on some details for smoother play.

    Not many OSP have the new livery yet. They should throw the ram 2500 osp trucks out to.

    Born and raised in The Dalles. Game looks pretty much nothing like it, but the church with the gas station is accurate. The Dalles was where the Oregon Trail split for travel over the mountain or to float down the Columbia river to the Willamette river. Not a whole lot in The Dalles, but since I moved away, its gained a few good breweries
