About a decade ago, I was at a gig and happened to strike up a conversation with someone who was the chief buyer for HMV. According to them, their Blackpool store (whether it's still there, I don't know) sold more Quo albums than the entirety of all others. I was shocked. Quo are like a national treasure. No rude words, just good classic rock with awesome riffs. The kind of stuff you'd play at a wedding and everyone would know the words. There's are more talent in the band than might seem one a first listen; these guys were tight.
RIP Rick Parfitt, one of the founder members of one of our greatest ever rock bands here in the UK. The Quo are very much an institution here and they always rock the house down. Never made a bad record in over 50 years of performing.
Even as a Quo fan since my teenage years, I think I would have to say that "Never made a bad record" is a bit of a stretch! 'Perfect Remedy' album, I'm looking at you for a start :)
I saw them 5 times,50 years ago,in 1972 around The Croydon, Purley area,in their manor, of South East London. They were "paying their dues" after the pop years and building a new sound and image. On one of those 5 gigs ,they played 5 Encores including a 7 Part Medley:) Cost £1....:or $1.34....:)
This is a band who never really took themselves seriously but they did take their music and fans seriously. They rocked out for their entire career and looked like they were having a great time doing it.
Ahhh !! So so good !!!The Mighty Quo!!! I got to see them live in a smallish club in Toronto. My friend and I were right in front of the two guitar players, Rick Parfitt(the blonde guy) and Francis Rossi(the brunette guy) for the whole show. We heard a lot of guitar and some bass and drums. Keyboards were drowned out. Our hearing was really affected for three days afterwards. But man oh man was it worth it! Be forewarned! The Status Quo rabbit hole is a very deep and complex one. But so, so very rewarding!
If you enjoyed this I think you’ll really like their live performance of ‘Rockin all over the world’ at Live Aid in 1985. I believe they were the first musical act to kick it all off that day and they really got the crowd going in what was going to be a very long day!! 🎸🙌🏾 ‘Caroline’ and ‘In The army Now’ are also great songs from them. Hope you get to check these out too!
This is one of their many anthems, played at every single gig since it's inception in 1979. This got to the no.4 slot in the singles charts of that year and is as catchy now as it's always been. Their trademark sound is unmistakable, of course, and the song itself is deceptively simple. The follow-up single to this was a slower, more melodic number called, 'Living On An Island', that was a break from the usual sound. It only reached No.16 in the charts, but is still a favourite of many fans. 'Mystery Song', (the album version), is a fantastic song to react to.
Straight down the line rock and roll for the people! Very underrated musicians who where fantastic live, many thanks for your enthusiastic and insightful reaction ❤
If you recall back in the eighties this is the band that was first to play at Band Aid for Ethiopian Famine relief and viewed by Billions around the world. Awesome but so so underrated.
I'm a fan of Status Quo since childhood. Almost for 40 years now. Some call them repetitive, but if you listen to Quo, you know what you get. That's not a bad thing. They had some major hits over the decades. And also some atypical Quo-songs on their list, which are also fun to listen ("Pictures of Matchstickmen", the slower hit "In The Army Now"). They are also quite very good with some classic cover versions. Love them. Sadly Rick Parfitt and Alan Lancaster are no longer with us.
First band I ever saw live back in 1984. They were my first favourite band. Always have a soft spot for them. So many great songs from them over a monster career.
The band that got me into 'heavier' guitar driven Rock way back in 1974, when I was 8. Seen them 42 times since 1981 and they're always superb live. Looking forward to more Quo reactions 🤘
So many hits in the 70s, Caroline, Roll over Lay down, Paper Plane, Rain, all great fun to move to. We did that in circles, made everybody smile, thank you, Jay and Amber and good luck with getten rid of the last echoes 😊
In ‘90 I travelled from Canada to England for the big concert Knebworth and I had never heard of Quo and was blown away by them. When I got back I bought anything and everything I could find in their catalog.
Was lucky enough to see them while Rick and Alan were still with us, from the first chord the whole venue was on their feet for the whole concert, honestly they were so slick and laid back just jamming on stage for two hours. You have to play Rocking all over the World
You guys really need to check out the entire set that Status Quo did when they opened Live Aid in 1985. By that stage their star was beginning to fade, but they blew the roof off the place and had the crowd eating out of their hands. It's an amazing performance.
When it was first mentioned that Quo should open Live Aid it was who, what and why. Simples Quo had the perfect song, had been playing stadiums for years so won't get fazed and knew how to interact with the crowd, plus a lot of the current crop of artists didn't want to open because of the pressure,.
The Quo were afraid of nothing. They owned it and all of us in Canada were dancing and rocking all over the damn house. As usual of course. Sadly they only came here a couple of times, and damn it was worth the travel.
I personally would not have said: "By that stage their star was beginning to fade". And I say that as not even a fan of theirs per se, although I appreciate them for what they are.
I think Amber's almost immediate reaction is pretty much what we all feel! I'd definitely recommend "Caroline" - for a long time Quo's show opener - for your next reaction.
Another great reason to love this channel. I left the UK in 1983 knowing Quo as an absolute monster band. I never heard them again for forty years until Rob and Amber introduced them to their mainly American audience. The best news is that they still hold up, this is just classic. ✌️
Bringing back memories guys! Loved this when I was little and in Australia it was a huge hit, along with “Rockin all over the World” and "Roll Over Lay Down". ❣
I LOVE seeing you kids discover the killer jams!! This one here is PHENOMINAL!!! Status Quo has been Rockin' All Over The World since the 1960's . Rick Parfitt(RIP) and Francis Rossi are one of the original guitar duos. If you haven't done it, a reaction video to Foghat - Slow Ride would be a banger for you guys. Jay I think especially will like the slide guitar on that.
Next react to "Roll Over Lay Down". It's a real heavy head-banger! They also had a huge world-wide hit with a cover of a John Fogerty song called "Rockin' All Over the World". Try that one too.
You know that they open the worlds biggest music gig, Live Aid at the old Wembley stadium. I had tickets it was great, I still have two t-shirt in the bags unopened. It will never be repeated no matter what.
I can honestly say that over the years ( now 65) having seen many bands during the seventies there concerts were the best pure energy and great crowds, one of thoose concerts was at the royal Albert hall where the whole place was shaking what a band.
Thank you for introducing me to Status Quo! Radio around here is so stagnant that Status Quo would give radio music so much life and energy. Radio and music should never be boring and thank you for exposing us to something that we may never got to hear otherwise! Since today is Female Friday and last week was Cinco De Mayo, I know you might have missed my request for you to check out a band of sisters from Mexico named, The Warning, and I was going to wait to request a live video from them but it's time to land the big one. Earlier this year, they played a concert in Mexico City, where they are huge in, as well as Central and South America and with their 100+ North American show last year, they're spreading like wildfire! Amber, introduce the family to THE WARNING and use their song, "Disciple" from their concert in Mexico City earlier this year! You and Jay will love it! Love yenz! Knuckle Moonpup signing out! Oh, speaking of concerts, you should dedicate a day where you watch a concert, whether you watch it live or on streaming services and share what you think. There are a lot of bands that yenz are getting into that are no longer together or gone now or too much money to watch these days but it shouldn't mean you should miss out!
Hey Ive been a quo fan for 40 years, got all there stuff and watch them every year They are by far the best boogie woogie band in the world and still doin it tday. QUO OH OH OH OH
Yes, another Quo track to add to your collection.... I love to see the bands from old getting a new lease of life for a new generation. 'Rocking All Over the World' is probably their most famous song. 'In The Army Now' & 'Caroline' to other bangers from these guys. 👍👍👍
I get pretty nostalgic and glad when i hear this music. Positive pure boogie rock, Status Quo always deliver. Happy music, really good guitars as you say.
I've been watching live bands for over 40 years and seen Status Quo many times, from 1981 to the 2000s. Fantastic live act. You can't fail to start moving, and the whole venue is always bouncing. A music magazine in the UK described this type of music (along with AC/DC) as "heads down, no nonsense, mindless boogie".
Mystery Song will blow your mind. Loving the Lizzy shirt still, please, please, please, please, please, please check out Gary Moore and Scott Gorham playing Thin Lizzy's Black Rose live. They were the guitarists on the original Thin Lizzy track. I know you love guitar playing, so it will not disappoint you. More Quo please too. You rock.
THE GREATEST ROCK BAND EVER , PEOPLE USED TO SAY THEY ONLY PLAY FOUR CHORDS . THEY SAiD THAT IS ALL YOU NEED FOR ROCK AND ROLL Sold countless millions of records.
Status Quo/the frantic four have been with me since my childhood when I first heard Pictures of Matchstick men in 1970. Bought my first album Hello (the black one) mid 1970-ties...and they have been with me ever since that day. This is a no BS hard working rock band. Just love the work/music they do. Rick Parfitt was the rythm section honest and when he did his thing Quo went straight for succes. A true force of nature. Rest in Peace Rick.
Rock and roll at its best, they always have fun performing. Caroline was a huge hit for them, rocking all over the world and softer ride are great songs, they performed at live aid and got the crowd going.
We take the Mickey a bit in the UK, saying they only know 3 chords. Most of their songs are instantly identifiable, but have more about them than we give them credit for. Overall a fantastic and long lasting UK band.
@RobSquadReactions17 this is the first time I've commented on your videos, but I'm a subscriber here in the UK, and I watch them all the time. You're a beautiful couple and a lovely family. I wish you all the best.
You should hear and see the video from the KNEBWORTH'90 festival! Quo starts to play dadum dadum dadum dadeedee and the whole crowd of 100.000 (or a little less) people is getting loud and raise their hands!
I've seen them live twice, these and Motorhead are renowned for having the loudest live shows...and trust me, they are unbelievably loud and amazing...
Used to call this the 'chicken song' as kids - 'Buk-Buk, Buk-Buk, Buk-Buk, Buk-Keeerk!' What can you say. It's Status Quo - masters of the 12 bar blues. Still awesome to listen to now!
Jay & Amber you know what I’m going to say, I’ve been saying it all along. Please don’t make me beg again! “Caroline” live at Glastonbury or Download Festival. It’s going to blow your socks off! Sending much love your way from the UK ❤
We say “STAY” tus Quo btw, hi from England. The Quo for short, they seemed to be in the charts all the time in the early 70s. They were the opening act at Live Aid and had nearly 60 top 40 hits!!! “Caroline” and “Down Down” my favourites 😊
I've seen these guys in concert numerous times over the years and they're as good live as on record. This lineup is my favourite though. RIP Rick Parfitt and Alan Lancaster.
Status Quo were absolutely huge here in Australia as well as Europe and the UK. Roll Over Lay Down live , Rain ,Caroline , Paper Plane and so many more rockin songs for you guys to check out
Hi Team seen them a handful of times live _ ( to us in Uk They're simply Quo) _ brill back catalogue Paper Plane , Caroline , Rockinall over the World Fun,Fun, Fun ( with the Beach Boys) concerts in Wacken , Live Aid , with an Orchestra can't fail En joy
A Quo gig from this era was something to behold - They were boogie beasts live. Check out their live 1977 album - one of the best live rock records laid down on vinyl.
OH YES!!!!! Btw - for new bands for the channel, I still want you guys to check out 'Madness'. Too many tracks to mention, but I'd suggest one of their earlier works, 'Baggy Trousers' springs to mind, or maybe 'My Girl' to start. And do not miss out 'It must be Love', 'Our House', or 'House of Fun'! other great tracks too. Either way, enjoy!
One of Status Quo's biggest hits w/ (the late) Rick Parfitt (vocals & rhythm guitar) on lead vocals (Francis Rossi on harmony vocals) from 1979. It's strange that Status Quo is huge in Europe, but never made it big in the US... We need them to be popular in the States before they are gone - Francis Rossi (vocals & lead guitar) is 73 yrs and he says he's uncertain about Status Quo recording again... Rick Parfitt passed away in 2016, and he was the band's rock star... Former bassist (original member) Alan Lancaster passed away in 2021... Original drummer John Coghlan is 76 (he left the band in 1981)... Andy Bown (keyboards/ vocals) is 77 yrs and is still playing w/ Status Quo (since 1976). 'Whatever you want' was written by keyboardist Andy Bown... he brought the track to Rick Parfitt who loved it and wrote the lyrics... it also became the title of Status Quo's 1979 album... The live version is actually better w/ current bassist John 'Rhino' Edwards. Francis Rossi has kept Status Quo touring w/ Andy Bown, John 'Rhino' Edwards, Richie Malone (guitar) and Leon Cave (drums)... Rossi has said that he notices on stage that Rick Parfitt is gone when the band performs 'Whatever you want'... and he's not there singing or playing guitar. More Status Quo - 'In the army now'... "Roll over lay down'... 'Burning bridges'... "Ain't complaining"... 'Paper plane'... "Rocking all over the world" (John Fogerty cover)... 🔥🔥🤘🤘
Grew up listening to this band - in my 60's now! (How the hell did that happen?) Enjoyed this and love your reaction. A great sound 'back then' and still great today.
The song was also a successful advertising jingle in the 1970s in the UK for a shop called What every woman wants..then the store became What everyone wants.
This was a big hit here in Australia when I was a teen in the 70''s, I think their music is timeless and would still sound good today to most young people.
One of my favourite groups from the past. Adeparture from their usual style is You're In The Army Now. They went on for years, but in later years they played small venues sometimes in an umplgged way, It meant they could keep playing even though no longer getting the big gigs.
The Alarm were MY band in the 80s. I saw them in DC at a small venue and they were so loud I couldn’t hear for two days but I didn’t care. I would have lost my hearing for Mike Peters. I recommend starting at the beginning with “68 GUNS” but any song will do.
@@lesscarmel5527 I saw them at UCONN in 1986. We stayed up all night to get right up front when the gates opened. It was an amazing show. The Long Ryders and Modern English were the opening acts.
I have been a fan of Status Quo , for about 50 yrs now , still love the Quo. Always will

The sad thing is that Status Quo are almost unknown in the US. And that’s really a shame because they are such an amazing band.
I saw them 5 times,50 years ago,in 1972 around The Croydon, Purley area,in their manor, of South East London.
They were "paying their dues" after the pop years and building a new sound and image. On one of those 5 gigs ,they played 5 Encores including a 7 Part Medley:)

@@robinjohnston24 it was an amazing moment in music history. Status Quo absolutely killed it. What a way to start a marathon concert of superstars!
Quite right. I was going to say that too. That's the one to watch!!!
It was deliberate so it could kick off Live Aid with Rockin' All Over The World...
What you are proposing , In the army now , rocking all over the world or even earlier stuff like pictures of match stick men ...they are all brilliant
The only band that could of opened "Live Aid" and made every member of the audience rock. That's something you should definitely check out.
This is one of their many anthems, played at every single gig since it's inception in 1979. This got to the no.4 slot in the singles charts of that year and is as catchy now as it's always been. Status Quo’s 1968 “ Pictures of Matchstickmen” , “ Piledriver” 1972 and “ Rockin all over the World” from 1978 worth a listen.❤️
I particularly liked the unique sounds in "Pictures."
no they are not
Pictures of Matchstick Men is a must learn to play for all budding guitarists - love it!
please, not the matchstick song. Uncharateristic of Status Quo!
Rockin all over the World was 1977.

My favourite Quo song! Seriously, I cannot believe you haven't watched "Spinal Tap" yet - you'll see why I think of them whenever I see Status Quo.
My second favourite film of all time! Blues Brothers is No1
Got to go for Rockin all over the world, it’s a Creedence Clearwater Revival song but status quo opened live aid with it and it’s brilliant
I'm from the UK and I have seen Status Quo live on stage many times. They were so good.
So many great tunes by the Quo, Should listen to them play Caroline!
Used to call this the 'chicken song' as kids - 'Buk-Buk, Buk-Buk, Buk-Buk, Buk-Keeerk!' What can you say. It's Status Quo - masters of the 12 bar blues. Still awesome to listen to now!
I'm lucky enough to have seen Status Quo live many times.
Jay & Amber you know what I’m going to say, I’ve been saying it all along. Please don’t make me beg again!
“Caroline” live at Glastonbury or Download Festival. It’s going to blow your socks off!
Sending much love your way from the UK ❤
Ahhhh the Quo are awesome - they are such a wonderfully up beat band - LOVE them
Status Quo, Rocking all over the world. 👌 they opened Live Aid in 1985 with it and got billions worldwide rocking 😎
I've got a smile from ear to ear. This takes me back to my hairy teenage years. There are so many rocking tracks from Quo.
We say “STAY” tus Quo btw, hi from England. The Quo for short, they seemed to be in the charts all the time in the early 70s. They were the opening act at Live Aid and had nearly 60 top 40 hits!!! “Caroline” and “Down Down” my favourites 😊
Great tune! Amber, you'll love "Pictures of Matchstick Men", from way back in the day. Thanks!
I've seen these guys in concert numerous times over the years and they're as good live as on record. This lineup is my favourite though. RIP Rick Parfitt and Alan Lancaster.
You'll love Rockin' All Over the World. I think it was their biggest hit.
Quo always starts our parties. People dance all night then
I have loved this group for 55 years
Status Quo were absolutely huge here in Australia as well as Europe and the UK. Roll Over Lay Down live , Rain ,Caroline , Paper Plane and so many more rockin songs for you guys to check out
Ooii! U guys! Bringing me back to me high school days🥺😃. Your reactions, are much appreciated... Plenty Lov from Down Under 🌺
I saw Quo live in Manchester (England) in 1984. The joint was jumping.

A Quo gig from this era was something to behold - They were boogie beasts live. Check out their live 1977 album - one of the best live rock records laid down on vinyl.
I always thought "Quo" and "Hello" to be their best albums.
Quo has never stopped producing records and touring since 1967 easily the NO 1 rocking roll band of all time :)
Love their sound, London boys from my home town
Status Quo is one of my favorite bands. I had two or three of their albums when I was a kid
Burning bridges , rocking all over the world , in the army now . classic British rock awesomeness
YEEEES STATUS QUO! They had really good songs. What You‘re Proposing!
Another one that writes its own intro!
Love your Thin Lizzy T-shirt! 🤩 One of the greatest bands ever, especially “Cowboy Song”
Big Rush fan , attracted to the depth of meaning and complexity,Status Quo in thier simplicity in entertaining ,both excellent bands.
Saw them about 15 times. Such a good band. Proper rock n roll.
There was a store in the UK in the 80's,90's called "What Everyone Wants" and they used this as there jingle!!!
You guys would absolutely love The Alarm. Great underrated band. I know I’ve mentioned them before.
Spirit of '76 should absolutely be their first reaction, and NOT the shitty radio edit, the full, epic song.
My first gig! They came to St Albans, where we never had gigs at all usually, in 1984, supported by Jake Burns And The Big Wheel.
@@LiberalsArePoop My absolute favorite Alarm song! Yes, the full version
Yes ... As previously said .... "Rocking All Over The World" .... Their anthem and probably their most famous track ever .....
