I'm sure the kids just eat that up, getting to ride on the Thomas train! It looks like a wonderful place to visit with young ones. Thank you for the video, my friend! Have a great weekend, and please tell Walter and Roger I said hi. ❤ Thanks again! 😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤
Red thanks much for posting, Thomas. Brings back memories of when we took a little boy my wife baby sat to see Thomas at the White River Valley Railroad in Connersville. Well Jacob is not little anymore he is a junior in high school. Boy did he love Thomas! As you can probably tell I miss him a lot as he now lives in Illinois.
Nice video Red. The 751 is a GP7u it was built for the M&StL in 1957 and rebuilt under the CNW. There used to be a large tailings pile along the line near one of the closed mines locally called “Mt Boone”. Fraiser had a power plant that was served by the railroad at one time.
That certainly is quite the consist for Thomas the Train. That was formerly one of the Wisconsin and Southern's last GPs. Pulling a CNW CNW caboose then the former Rock Island Suburban cars then the closest thing to Electric that being the South Shore cars and then good old Thomas clanking away. Years ago the museum at Green Bay had that car body built around the chassis of an old Plymouth gas locomotive from the 1920s. Just about 8:10 the sudden jump in altitude so that we didn't go zap and @9:25 the car that was advertising for Midas mufflers lol. Curiosity prevailed and Iowa does have coal deposits following the Des Moines River basin. It looks like the State Historical Society has some good information since there are numerous ghost towns that had coal mines. In fact Consolidation Coal actually ran one for the Northwestern but alas the last one mine closed in 1994. Many played out early due to thin seams or possibly too close to water. Glad the had good weather to host the event.
This version of Thomas the Tank Engine is more than likely the same non-powered version that the Illinois Railroad Museum in Union, Illinois has for excursions. This Thomas the Tank Engine requires a diesel engine to move the excursion train. The only powered version of Thomas the Tank Engine that I have seen is the one that operates on the Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg, Pennsylvania. Thank you for the drone footage of the Thomas the Tank Engine excursion train along one of the tracks owned by the Boone & Scenic Railroad. The drone overview of the Boone & Scenic Railroad property gives us an idea of some of the equipment that the B&SV owns. The Chicago & North Western Railroad acquired Ft. Dodge, Des Moines & Southern Railroad in 1968. The C&NW acquired the Chicago Great Western Railroad on 1 July 1968. The C&NW acquired Ft. Dodge, Des Moines & Souther n Railroad on 30 July 1968. @thomasmackowiak You're welcome Thomas! It was a madhouse of kids down there. Hard to believe they mined coal in that area. Must have been some high sulfur stuff. Grabbed another view of the UP Boone railyard when I was down there too. Upload it soon👍
