Agreed that was treat. I can't believe how good of a shape that those buildings still are and the caboose. Thanks again for another interesting video. Please keep them coming!!!
That was a neat video with the tower and certainly is refreshing to see something in good condition and that people take care of it. I was in it once or twice when it was still open and for the most part this was a pretty simplistic one but all of them have a great feel esp the sound of electrical relays and the creaky wooden steps and furniture. I always loved looking at those schematics usually modified with tape or white out as certain connections were removed or changed over the years but usually the old railroad names remained in place. Those meters actually are timers. It was a safety feature that made you think through your moves and if you made a wrong one it would lock up or if you changed your mind in a hurry. The console within stay frozen for anywheres from 3 to 5 minutes as it timed down then it would free up and you could realign it. Very nice drone shot because all the fields still have that Golden Glow even though they were picked clean. A nice historical synopsis of what small town USA was like when the railroad was King
@paulbergen9114 Thanks Paul! Mike with the historical center sure was generous with his time. He gave me his phone number for future visits to the Mills Tower. Glad you knew those were timers. Interesting old technology there. Yep not much left for standing corn. My next video will show some more harvest action👍
Ohhhhh, WOW! Red! Lots of history preserved there......bet you would love to have that CNW map...........given the time frame, one would almost expect an I.C. freight, or the "Land 'O Corn" to pull up and exchange some passengers!
You did a wonderful job of catching that southbound Union Pacific manifest freight on the Spine Line as it passed through Bradford, Iowa Red! You arrived at the Mills Tower in Iowa Falls, Iowa at the right time to have that guided tour of Mills Tower and the former Illinois Central Depot in Iowa Falls, Iowa. I really enjoyed the tour of Mills Tower and the Illinois Central Depot! (Posted on 5 November 2024 at 1742 CST.)
@thomasmackowiak Thanks Thomas! Had to run a gravel road to get that Spine Line catch. I got Mike's phone number and he said to call him if I wanted to visit the Mills Tower again.

Thanks for the video Red. I think the train orders were in sets of two. One for the engineer and one for the conductor in the caboose.
