- In this episode I visit the Temple of Prophecy where I get the Marcher Gad, a new cheat and a bunch of new Dark Souls. Before I do all of that I first check out a hidden Easter egg from the first level of the game, you can see a bunch more Easter eggs on W MJ's TH-cam channel.

In my Shadow Man: Remastered playthrough I am reliving one of my favorite childhood games, this will be the first time I have completed Shadow Man since I was a kid on the N64. Ultimately this will become a complete game playthrough including all the cut content the Shadow Man Remaster has to offer.

I've been enjoying the remaster quite a bit since I got it. Night Dive did a great job improving the original.
I've been using your videos to see where I should be going (the game can be pretty vague about that!), having a crack at the level and then checking your progress to see what I missed or if I need to head elsewhere. Thanks a lot for actually putting commentary in, it really improves a walkthrough. I also agree I'd prefer a shinier, more user friendly remaster than a full remake - especially with all the cut content put back in. Thanks for the videos!

At 15:18, I was able to get that Govi without fire-walking ability via carefully timed quick saves and jumping on the exposed wood around the perimeter of the hut housing the govi. This, of course, is the dumbest way to do it and purely academic since you get the fire walking ability in this level anyhow. I spent a good 2 hours on this level and it was your walkthrough that, once again, saved me from getting lost! The reason I couldn't progress was because I just completely neglected to walk through that door across the fire traps at 15:18. I got the govi, jumped off to die/reset, and then just never came back to that room (but explored practically every other place in this level). Thank you for having so many on-point walkthroughs! This game would have been too frustrating without these videos.
Hey thanks, I'm glad the videos are still helping :) getting that Govi early might not be as dumb as you say especially if it saves time, I am always looking for ways of completing the levels more efficiently thanks for letting me know.

I love Shadowman! It's still my favorite game to this day. Gotta admit though, after seeing Kevin Longtime's remake, I would play the hell out of that version if it ever got released.
I also hope that releasing the remaster (which is truly amazing!!!) might cause new interest in the franchise in general.
It still has so much potential!
If handled the right way, another game or even a movie/series would be a dream come true!

I wish I had started playing this game while watching your walkthrough. I only started watching since Part 8 Asylum Cageways. You really helped me a lot finding as many dark souls as possible in each level since then. Unfortunately, I never got that weapon which lets you warp and open shortcuts which now feels like a major bummer. I am definitely going to watch your Shadow Man videos from the start now. Thanks for the all the help!

I absolutely adore this game and have been doing so for the past 22 years and I think this remaster is one of the very best remasters I've ever seen and the way the game was meant to be experienced back in the day. Excellent visual quality and content! I also enjoyed the addition of the cut content quite a lot.
Totally agree! Ive been playing a lot of remasters over the last few years and Shadowman is one of the best. You can tell NightDive put so much effort in.

I'm a true fan of shadowman and I'm really enjoying you're remastered playthrough. But I have to agree, it's time for a remake. It would be amazing if they kept the same story with new actors and graphics.

I love this game a friend lend me when I was a kid and blow my mind the hook guys scare me but I keep playing til got all dark souls and cadeux but then I have to give it back and never could play it again am waiting for console versions and keep going nice videos well explained really cool thanks

These vids are so helpful. I could never get far 20 years ago when I played this, over and over. It’s still a nightmare navigating the cunning and confusing levels. You are making an awkward but excellent game much more playable and - gasp - I may even make it to the end this time 🙂🙂
You can do it! I completed this game as a kid and playing it as an adult I have no idea how I managed it! I'm sure it has something to do with having a lot more free time.
I saw a small fan trailer for shadowman but through the unreal engine and it was incredible and THAT was the remaster I was expecting but im still ok with this remake just as a way to play it through newer consoles because I honestly think the game was perfect as is but regardless its definitely been a fun trip through memory lane ! Excellent video!

This game was was created in a era when games didn't hold your hand. Unlike modern games they didn't hold your hand and give you a tutorial as soon as you turned it on, you have to actually use your brain and Play the game. Yes i know there are exceptions like dark souls or bloodborn but there almost throwbacks and thus not the rule but the exception.
I didn't know about the hidden teddys, I wonder if the secret achievement is for finding all of them.
I cant believe i beat this game as a kid, replaying the remaster showed me how spoiled ive become with more modern games lol
Never really wanted a remaster just a port to newer consoles but nightdive did an amazing job
You can change the settings back to the old textures if you want.

Another thing I noticed is it seems they have remixed these puzzles because that’s switched to activate. The blood waterfall is not there for me it’s actually been slightly moved into an expanded room, where the switches for you it’s been turned into an entire room in the full game
so far the remasters that Nightdive have done have all been good, Turok 1 & 2, Shadow Man, Forsaken, Blood Fresh Supply, Doom 64
seems like they actually care for the games they are remastering
100% agree, shadowman is one of the best they have done, there is much new content they really went above and beyond.

I watched a couple of reviews for the game beforehand since I really liked the art direction, but wasn't certain the genre would be my cup of tea, but it looked fun,
game timer says 17 hours so far, though that doesnt count quickloads, and I'm having a lot of fun, had to watch your playthrough once or twice when I didn't know where to progress or where to get key items
I'll say this though, you need to be in a certain mindset for the game to be enjoyable rather than frustrating, but when you have that mindset you'll have a ton of fun

Recently I played Shadowman of PS1 and was able to finish it after 16 years of not playing it as I was stuck in Lavaducts, because I did not know what the retractors were used for and could not find the last piece of L'eclipser
Lol the worst version of the game is the PS1, it is directly broken and a huge amount of bugs.
That had to be an aggravating weight hanging on your shoulders for 16 years lol.
ah strange i couldn't find the teddy on the church roof (am playing the switch version). first time playing shadowman and loving it i have to say,but have def resorted to yt for finding some things eg your video here.

The last 1 is in the Floor with the markings on it at the 6:50 which you will use the, Calabash on it to break the Floor, you get at Level 9
Oh yeah I forgot about that Calabash area. Is there a govi under the floor?
you mentioned that you speak to kevin (level designer). can they tell us what tools they are using to open the bsp map files? it would help greatly in making maps for the game. =) what forums are they active on?
You should watch the DF video it gives great insight into how the game was made, they used Blender for level editing.

I've gotten 80 dark souls but still don't have it and its annoying me.
The jump before the the tattoo room looks to me like it has been made bigger so its easier to land no sure tho

I had to comment on what you were saying about folks complaining about a remaster vs remake - I absolutely love the game and do so ever since I played the original in '99. That's why I'm playing the remaster here 25 yrs later! I'm happy to see the added content (Although I'll admit, alot of which I hadn't realized at first since I don't remember much of 25 yrs ago!) But, as for a REMAKE - the only thing I would admire is the exact same game with updated graphics and controls. I think it's great as it is, so that's the only thing that would be cool to see!
I've never played ShadowMan 2 because that was on PS2 at the time, and I skipped to original Xbox. I do wonder what you and the community of lovers think of the sequel game. Is it worth downloading!? I will research that after i finish this run - but thank you for the help! As I told ya before, it stressed me out back in 99 to complete it, but it was worth the months of working through it! I think back then I had to dig thru typed text help posts to find a few things since youtube didn't exist yet!
Oh, and fyi, the ONLY reason I even learned about the game back in 99, was because a girlfriend of mine bought it, just because I've had the nickname Shadow since I was in junior high. As you see, I still go by it today! (It's also how I found the amazing music of DJ Shadow!)

Yeah, that teddy bear doesn’t appear for me in that location I just checked so I’m not sure if they patched it out or something like that
They have changed the locations of them, I believe if you find all of them you unlock something.
Im playing this game and following this video. The teddy bear in Nettis church isn't there. Maybe it was removed for a later update?

Something that I've seen that makes no sense to me is people believing that a Shadow Man Remake will never happen now that Nightdive has done this remaster. This thinking is bollocks.
I think without Remastered there was never any hope of a remake --- whether or not diehard Shadow Man fans want to admit it the truth is that the property was forgotten, games that get big budget remakes these days are those which average gamers remember and hold dear which publishers believe will get a big turnaround.
No publisher wants to front big bucks for a property that could be a flop on release and I see no point in a low-budget Shadow Man Remake.
With Shadow Man Remastered, fans can bring in new players to discover it and become fans themselves, and then maybe the property gets resurrected, new comics written, maybe a Netflix show, and then big bucks can be spent on a modern Reboot.
They rebooted the comics back in 2012. The new series kind of blends elements from the original 1992 series and the 1996 series the game is based on. Any new Shadow Man game that gets made will most likely be based on the current series.

That's good news. I'm not a fan of the franchise past the game, but it's about time I looked into those comics because I think that Shadow Man is fabulous
@@charoleawood I'd recommend starting with the Acclaim comics since they're the ones the game is based on. I liked the newer series but it doesn't really capture the darker tone of the game. It's more like a superhero comic. It's also in a shared world with all the other rebooted Valiant comics.

Excellent, thanks for the advice. I'll do that. I'm certainly very interested in the mature themes presented in the game and I don't really like the idea of seeing that turned into an MCU style superhero story. Acclaim it is!

Yeah in the console type freecam but if you do this you won't get any achievements on that save file.

Fun fact, I was able to get that Dark Soul by dropping from the lever that lifts the cage and dying, then I went back up the bloodfall at the start and I raced to retrieve it, I had to perform a roll at the very end to get under the cage. Took me two tries, wouldn't have tried more times than that

I think lowering of the cage is paused on death and doesn't continue its decent until you come nearer to the room

The views about being a "true fan" are also a bit toxic; there's nothing wrong with people wanting things to improve as technology improves. To say fans should shut up and deal with the remake if they're a "true fan" is absolutely absurd and even ignorant.

I've actually never play Shadow Man 2, I bought it years ago but never got around to trying it. I got put off playing it because of bad reviews.

It looks fine to me, really. I wonder if youtube compression somehow meets the display at 60Hz and smooths things over. I certainly wouldn't want to play a game at 50fps on a 60Hz screen.

In general graphics look very impressive in comparison with the old version of the game, but what the f*ck is going on with fire and its animation? It looks like it has three times less fps than the game itself...
I love the original and the remaster but the sequel kind of sucked.
