To me it's unbelievable how good the F40 still looks to this day considering how old it actually is. It's like they nailed the archetypal supercar look with its design.
Thank you for this video, really helps narrow it down. Truly gonna help the focus required to save the remaining $1,499,973 But seriously these are the peak analog cars, glad Doug got to spend some time with both of em
@9:57. Doug I am not a huggable type of guy but your reaction to the driving experience you are having just makes me wanna give you a hug. Man your invested emotions were just over the top.
One of my favorite things in the world is watching passionate people trying out their "favorites". Of all of Doug's reviews, his reaction while driving the Carrera gt in this video is the most real and true. Man you truly deserve a Carrera GT in your life and one day you will have it in your garage :)
Of course I enjoyed watching the cars... but what I loved most about this video was seeing someone who loves this stuff get the best experience they'll ever have. In a world of people faking authenticity, it's nice to see Doug get a little choked up and you just know how much this means to him.
yeah, now that he is kinda ditching "more doug demuro" and publishing that style of videos on the main channel it really is making it more enjoyeble imo, these videos might not get as many views as his SUVs reviews but they are really nice for enthusiast
Thank you, this video is such great timing. I was on the fence on buying either of these cars so this video helps a lot. I actually went ahead and went for the F40. I am sure it will be an amazing addition on the shelf with my other model cars.
I have driven both of these cars. Almost bought the carrera gt and currently own a Porsche gt2. That being said.....the f40 is without a doubt the better car. It’s difficult to explain other than to say that a great porsche is a great car......but a great Ferrari has a soul.
@@04kingyyy I'd choose the most irrational and stupid tbh. I want theatre when driving a car like this. I want to have a smile ear to ear the entire time. I want to remember each and every experience until I die.

I think people really should see this video. It is one of the best ones Doug has ever released! Really nice to hear the thoughts, to understand how special these machines are... and the engine sounds! Amazing Human achievements this two cars.
What a shame that the Carerra GT will never be produced again. Utterly incredible car in it's day. I've only seen one of these in the wild and yeah, it was fantastic to see and hear. 😀 And this was very likely my favorite Daddy Doug video ever posted.
I've seen one of them as well, paired with an SLR next to it. Incredible that I've been able to see one of them in person. Unfortunately, it wasn't on the road.
I thought I’m the only one who notices Doug getting teary-eyed in several segments of the video.🥺 I could feel the emotion of a car guy having a firsthand experience on his favorite/dream car.💖 Anyway, it’s nice to see Doug making videos other than in-depth tours and quirks-and-features kind of things. Whoever followed him early on knows he made car videos of different variety. Love to see them coming back on his main channel.☺️
I feel like the added appreciation for the F40 is just the fact that it was around when Doug was a kid, which gives it an extra divine aura. But frankly, the Porsche is probably the most exciting experience you can have in any car, and it's the most exciting experience there ever will be when it comes to analog cars, and Carrera GTs will eventually be more expensive than the F40, because nothing can ever replace it for what it is.
it drives properly, is built properly, has logical placement for buttons and controls, that is what he means by rational. The door design you are referring to is a throwback to the old design of the gt40. I don't know what to call you besides a fucking idiot lol.
Doug, this is my second favorite video to the LFA video, coming from an OG Doug Demuro fan. When you give us real, emotional reactions when you are driving the car, you create an immediate connection with all of us. We would have the same reactions! I’ve had a couple. Keep it up, Doug!!
I'm a N/A guy for life, but..... The second the F40 video started it was all goose bumps all over. To see the purity of it, that cloth interior, that beast of an engine burbling in the back oh boy.. Can't think of any othyer car with so much caracter, it's just impossible for me. That's the least stuff you an put between you and the road, it's just obscenely thrilling that thing ..
Yes. The lead engineer of the F40, Nicola Materazzi, had a very clear vision of what a GT car should be. He later criticized Ferrari for going another direction with the F1 gearbox and few other stuff he didn’t like. Now, the analog driving experience can be topped off with NA cars such as the F50, Pagani Zonda and the best of all, the Mclaren F1.
I love his expression(s) as he's accelerating in the Carrera GT. He makes the point I keep making, DRIVING a sports car requires a manual transmission. Instead of just pointing the car, you are actually involved in moving the car forward and participating in what's going on to a more in-depth level. I just wish the Corvette C8 would catch on and offer a manual!
Not enough customers would buy one with it to justify to cost of offering one. Are manuals really that great though? Really that important that it makes enjoying the vehicle difficult?
@@OpeoAslam I'm unsure how making something automatic has ever complicated anything? The point is it disconnects one from the experience. I'd compare it to a condom. The difference is negligible however, the experience, not so much. Admittedly, that might that might not be the best analogy.
i think this video is better than the views say it is doug. maybe a more eye catching thumbnail (crazy to say with 2 of the most iconic cars ever but you know what i mean) and honestly instead of the transition screens you could employ youtube’s new thing with the different segments. content wise, impeccable. really great idea and execution with this doug
Great video, Doug. And great explanation. I am thrilled someone like yourself can explain why the raw, unrefined nature of the F40 is so alluring. It is absolutely a purist's car. To me it's unbelievable how good the F40 still looks to this day considering how old it actually is. It's like they nailed the archetypal supercar look with its design.
I think eventually Doug will just explode when he says "cars and bids!"
@@pixelatedautomotive8620 lmfao THIS is freaking hilarious

Agreed, I got teary when he got teary, gotta appreciate the raw emotion

@9:57. Doug I am not a huggable type of guy but your reaction to the driving experience you are having just makes me wanna give you a hug. Man your invested emotions were just over the top.
With recent success of cars and bids i was expecting doug to say: "and these are MY ferrari f40 and porsche carrera GT"
doug: *gets to drive an f40 and a carrera gt*
also doug: *wears a batman t shirt*
A very nice, classic logo Batman shirt. I had one like it in black. My ex decided it was hers.
@@cl7510 Sad
the shirt says "Austin".
Imagine what he would wears if he got to drive a Mclaren F1.
So basically reference to lamborghini murcielago
I wonder how long it’ll be until we hear “THIS... is a Porsche Carrera GT. In fact, it’s MY Porsche Carrera GT.”
Well, well, well... he said that five days ago almost verbatim!
One of my favorite things in the world is watching passionate people trying out their "favorites". Of all of Doug's reviews, his reaction while driving the Carrera gt in this video is the most real and true. Man you truly deserve a Carrera GT in your life and one day you will have it in your garage :)
Watching his reaction while driving it makes me want to donate to a “get Doug a carrera gt” go fund me lol

Doug, I really wish you get to buy one of these. Your happiness driving the Carrera GT was genuine and inspiring.
Of course I enjoyed watching the cars... but what I loved most about this video was seeing someone who loves this stuff get the best experience they'll ever have. In a world of people faking authenticity, it's nice to see Doug get a little choked up and you just know how much this means to him.
It feels like Dougs true personality got out a lot more in this video than in the usual review videos. I like that and i would like to see more of it.
True
yeah, now that he is kinda ditching "more doug demuro" and publishing that style of videos on the main channel it really is making it more enjoyeble imo, these videos might not get as many views as his SUVs reviews but they are really nice for enthusiast
Thank you, this video is such great timing. I was on the fence on buying either of these cars so this video helps a lot. I actually went ahead and went for the F40. I am sure it will be an amazing addition on the shelf with my other model cars.

Yea
I have driven both of these cars. Almost bought the carrera gt and currently own a Porsche gt2. That being said.....the f40 is without a doubt the better car. It’s difficult to explain other than to say that a great porsche is a great car......but a great Ferrari has a soul.
Doug could start selling a single t-shirt design and probably buy a CGT in a few months. let's see this happen
Buy some Doug DeMercho
Did that F40 not have a seatbelt? No wonder he refers to it “go kart like”! 🤣
Doug needs to charge $5 a month on Patreon and show how fast he’s driving.

The first two minutes of this video shows how Doug transcended every car reviewer in history.
Dong, what emotion in the eyes when trying the Carrera GT. I wish you to acquire it. You're the kind of owner she deserves Doug.

Whoever followed him early on knows he made car videos of different variety. Love to see them coming back on his main channel.☺️
Great review Doug! Two absolute icons! Now do the F40 vs F50!
Chris Harris made a great comparison between them.
Ditch the f40 and get the f50 and carrera gt together . V12 versus v12 both coupe / spyders both high revving n/a engines and both epic sounding
I’m just glad that he still started with the iconic “thissss”
9:57 That's the kind of emotion a supercar is supposed to give you. That's the whole point right there.
The wing deployment timing after 6:05 😂
Great review, definitely two icons!
For others also wondering if that means he's going really really fast: it deploys above 113km/h (70mph)
“Ford GT is rational.” It literally comes with its own guillotine for extremely tall people! It isn’t rational but it still is pretty cool.
I think he meant the way that it drives...
i think he meant that the turn signal stock is from a fiesta lol
it drives properly, is built properly, has logical placement for buttons and controls, that is what he means by rational.

Doug: If you are the one that considering between the two, here's my thought
That one dude out of 4 million: yes finally a video for me
I love his expression(s) as he's accelerating in the Carrera GT. He makes the point I keep making, DRIVING a sports car requires a manual transmission. Instead of just pointing the car, you are actually involved in moving the car forward and participating in what's going on to a more in-depth level. I just wish the Corvette C8 would catch on and offer a manual!
Unfortunately the majority of Corvette buyers go for the auto "because traffic."
Not enough customers would buy one with it to justify to cost of offering one. Are manuals really that great though? Really that important that it makes enjoying the vehicle difficult?
If you didn’t get the c7 in manual then there is no point in the C8 having a manual
@@OpeoAslam I'm unsure how making something automatic has ever complicated anything? The point is it disconnects one from the experience. I'd compare it to a condom. The difference is negligible however, the experience, not so much. Admittedly, that might that might not be the best analogy.
@@stevenwilliams1805 The difference is wearing a condom allows you to daily a manual corvette instead of an automatic Honda Odyssey.
i think this video is better than the views say it is doug. maybe a more eye catching thumbnail (crazy to say with 2 of the most iconic cars ever but you know what i mean) and honestly instead of the transition screens you could employ youtube’s new thing with the different segments. content wise, impeccable. really great idea and execution with this doug

Great video, Doug. And great explanation. I am thrilled someone like yourself can explain why the raw, unrefined nature of the F40 is so alluring. It is absolutely a purist's car. Enzo was a racing purist, and that car, in my opinion, was the greatest final statement he could've made in regards to his legacy.
