      I think it's possible that somebody did want to sponsor it, but the channel wanted to tell us about the shirts and didn't think it would be right to have two sponsorships. If they sell enough shirts, that's like a sponsorship - they're sponsoring themselves.

    You can explore fluorescence for yourself without a microscope and for about $30 using a 365nm UV flashlight off of ebay or amazon. You must make sure it's truly 365nm and not a cheap 405nm LED and that it comes with the ZWB2 UV cutoff filter though, without it the results are not nearly as good. It's spectacular the minerals, gems, flowers, and general household objects and materials you can see that fluoresce bright vibrant colors. Many of the lights available like the Convoy S2+ UV are extremely powerful and you absolutely must wear a pair of quality UV blocking goggles when using it to protect your eyes.

    Aw, I won't be able to make it to the stream. I wanted to ask if there's any interest in exploring the microbes that cause that distinct aroma that sponges get in the American Midwest. I'm from SF and my husband is from Patagonia, and we both noticed that, unlike back in our respective hometowns, the kitchen sponges here in Chicago quickly acquire a distinct foul odor regardless of which type of sponge and how often you clean and dry it. We suspect that there's some difference in the home microbiome here that causes it and wonder if it's possible to collect samples to compare, much like the beach sand samples. Is there any interest in receiving regional samples of various things like this? It could be an interesting way for viewers to contribute.

    Is certain wavelengths of light that can excite electrons into higher energy states that then loose energy in the form of light equal to certain wavelengths of sound that can excite guitar strings into higher energy states that then loose energy in the form of sound? Is this all just a harmonic thing?

    • @LuisAldamiz
      @LuisAldamiz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not quite because normally guitar strings are "excited" by your fingers, not sound. Also sound and light, although sometimes analogous, are not the same: sound is material waves, while light is just photons ("wavicle", wave-particle discrete packages of energy). This is the photoelectric efect, which gave Einstein his only Nobel Prize and inaugurated quantum mechanics (Planck and his constant allowing): sufficient light frequency (momentum) activates the electron, which soon afterwards bounces back to the base state emitting another photon, lots (intensity) of low energy (frequency) light do not achieve anything instead, that's why it is ultraviolet light (and not, say, radiowaves) which cause the fluorescence.
      It has to do with frequency but it's not mere musical harmonics.
