    Her voice is nice and shes clearly used to video presentation but she doesn’t quite capture the same image that Hank did. Hank makes it feel like we’re these gentle giants peering into a world that we shouldn’t be allowed to see. It’s almost like if hank is too loud he’ll startle the microbes and they’ll hide. I’m hopeful that either by herself or with hanks help she’ll develop a similar style too.

      The issie I'm personally running into is that voices with a lot of treble demand my attention in such a way that, while useful if I need to be alert, is providing the opposite effort I come to this channel for. Perhaps it's not an issue for most others, but I'm curious if anyone else finds that a voice with more bass and a slower annunciation helps sooth them.
      I was actually surprised to find that Hank was the narrator when I came across this channel, having started on the 5th or so video; the energy that I associated with Hank's work in the paat, with SciShow, Crash Course, and the like, was more frenzied and energetic, so I have no doubt that this wonderful madam can sync with the existing mood of narration with more practice. I just hope that they examine what attributes the existing audio had and try to capture the same qualities.
      Regrettably, I'm not able to be lulled to sleep with this audio track, and the peaks in treble are tickling my ears in an uncomfortable way. I hope it's enjoyable for someone else, though! Just not my cup of tea, sorry.

    • @mako3951
      @mako3951 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      She is just talking and she sounds normal omg. it shouldn't matter anyways. what matters is the information being presented, we don't need to "experience" these microbes they are literally microbes they are thoughtless biological machines, the fascinating thing about them is the information about them not the voice people put on when they talk about them. These videos aren't meant to be an asmr video for you to be lulled by, they are meant to teach you interesting information. Jeez people are so fucking annoying, they'll find anything to complain about. People just hate when women do anything I guess.

While I'm sure she is a great host on a purely learning channel, her voiceover is currently too rigid and instructional. I recommend something more along the lines of the sultry voice stylings of a jazz singer (ex.: Jessica Rabbit, Hannah Gill with PMJ), or the stereotypical stoner lilt (ex. I Love this channel. It reminds me that I am not the only one who loves his microscope. I do not use one at work. I am not a scientist, just a science nerd. On cloudy nights when I cannot use my telescope, my microscope comes in very handy.

    Well, hmmm - the new narrator is real good, think right now still voting for Hank. I think I really like the quiet way he speaks, sorta like we are looking over the microbes shoulder and trying not to disturb it. Am looking forward do the crash course organic chemistry however, think this narrator is probably just really good at that.

    Welcome Dr. Chakravarti! I really enjoyed the video, looking forward to more. I'd be willing to bet that a background track that's heavier on baritone and bass would complement your voice even better, if that's an option. Thank you for stepping up to the mic!

    Wonderful & informative, but one of the few times I've really wanted James to have access to electron microscopy. So much of the details of Diatom's constructions are just too small for optics.
    I can only imagine what we'd be able to engineer if we could learn how Diatoms build their frustules.
    (I have to admit I miss the ASMR of Hank's dulcet tones)

      Of course, it's kismet - now you've got to get one. 😁 And I've the perfect organism for your first set of images.

    Dr. Deboki! Thank you so much for your knowledge and research that you have provided for this show--
    I am glad you are get to read your own research 🧐 you have provided me with so much intrigue -!!!
    I love this channel, because it is not as uppity as the other channels and just as knowledge packed.
    Hank narrated with his mouth a little too close to the microphone, and maybe he is trying to lul me to relaxation with microbes. I luv it. ASMR with Microbes.

    Deboki did a wonderful job narrating however, Hank is the reason I started watching this channel and I hope to hear him narrating still. Hank, I would be willing to guess you have probably heard this before but when I listen to you narrate your videos it is very reminiscent of Carl Sagan who I very much enjoy listening to. Your timing and enunciation is on point!

    Hank's voice is ethereal and mysterious, which is great; but Deboki's one is warm and welcoming, and I think it is overwhelmingly nice.

    • @sturmey
      @sturmey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mmm I'm afraid I strongly disagree... With all my respect to Deboki, I found her narration monotonous, purely informational, and even the content was a bit excessive: too much information. In contrast, Hank transmits a wondrous feeling like in no other TH-cam science channel. His narration is truly unique and I'd be very sad if he stopped doing it.
