      Glad you liked it and thanks for watching. I think it sounds really nice over headphones. Often bass over headphones sounds too harsh, or boomy, and these amps have a really nice, realistic tone. You will enjoy practicing with it I think. I like it with the treble rolled off a bit, and the amp setting to "green" (LED).

    i cant recommend it enough. the sound....man oh man. really impressive.
    although i have some suggestions for a "deluxe" model in the future that would make it even better.
    1) make it a hybrid bass preamp/mp3 player. so you can load in all your backing tracks on the ssd as mp3s
    2.)have a rechargeable battery that plugs straight into usb
    3.)make it sturdier (the guts are great but the plastic feels really cheep and flimsy)

    Wish it uses 1/4 headphone jack, most monitor-headphones uses 1/4 in, 3.5 mm is not secure at all; I also feel I would happy to pay more to get a solid build device with longer/more batteries. The very plastic feel makes me worry for serious use; I ended up using USB powered Audio interface if I don't travel.

    UPDATE- This was not clear. Most folks thought it was a speaker -and it turns out it is a pre-amp only and you need phones or a ext. speaker. Funny how the face of the device LOOKS like a real speaker grill with Logo. Um, not quite-that would be too easy. So a line out from the HP jack-or stick in a pair of headphones-and you NOW have SOUND.
    PREVIOUS POST:
    OK-you can see my previous comment before this update. (and if I got fooled-others did as well) "There is no sound and the batteries are fresh. The other guitar models probably cut the low end and push the mids, so unless you want that sound, I'd probably not get those (although in a pinch, they'll do). Maybe wait if you can for the bass model. I know it is hard, hehe.

      It's not a speaker, so you do have to plug something else into to get sound. It can be headphones, or a regular speaker, or directly to your computer. They actually sell a little speaker that's meant to be paired with this called the 'AmPlug 2 Cabinet', which works pretty well.
      Just remember that anything besides headphones needs an audio cord to connect them, and you have to buy that separately.

    Would it be safe to plug this into a portable speaker instead of headphones, or would the low frequencies damage the speaker in a similar way that a guitar amp gets damaged when bass is played through it? Thank you for any information!

    • @ducttaperulestheworl
      @ducttaperulestheworl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shouldn't be a problem. The gain may be too high for speaker amp to handle so crank the amplug volume down if it starts crackling on your speakers.
      I used them on my 2.1 Edifier S530D. Not ideal as it makes the tone sound "separated" where bass is sent to the bassy subwoofer and growl n bite all on the fullrange.
      A pair of fullrange bookshelves would do better though you'd lose the deep bass if you don't have speakers bigger than 6.5"

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching - and yes, active or passive does not matter. you have three preamp settings, greed, orange, red, that deal with different incoming volume levels. My bass here is passive, and I have an active bass too. And yes, you can connect your phone/computer etc via AUX in to play to a track. Everything can be adjusted with the volume knob and tone knob on bass, to make sure it blends well.

      Well technically it''s a preamp, combined with a headphone amp. It takes your electric bass signal and amplifies it , and then passes it on to a headphone amp, which powers your headphones. You could run this into a PA system instead of headphones.

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are fantastic, for tracking (because isolating), practice (slightly enhanced bass) and to a degree mixing. Would recommend the lower impedance 80Ohm or 150 Ohm (if I recall correctly) version, as they dont require a dedicated pre-amp. The standard version is 250 Ohm. As for the H6, perhaps go check out the H8, it is built for that use. A multi-track recorder (not just field recording), and a better audio interface from what I read.

      hi, yes I have been using the BD 770 and 990 (Pro, 250Ohm Versions), that' s a good question since the manual doesn't make a note. The preamp has plenty of power, so that the sound isn't flat when connecting standard high impedance studio grade headphones.

    • @allenazali
      @allenazali 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use K240 semi open headphones. The K240 sound excellent on my bass guitar. It has low impedance, but I still have to turn the volume dial to 8 for it to sound like I am virtually filling the room with bass. On the Amplug, I have actually practiced until the batteries run out. There is no fade, the light goes off and it still has good play ability for a little while without having to crank up the volume. The built in rhythms are fantastic. Open headphones are wonderful for play along to a metronome or drum machine for practically silent practice. I do plan to get the DT990 Pro as they really look comfortable. There are some great headphone tube amps like the Bravo Audio V2. You can even replace the tube with a 12AX7 for a warmer vintage sounding VOX.

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Short answer: a close back , comfortable 80Ohm (or less) over the ear headphone. Long answer: I was surprised that it drives my 250Ohm Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, something phones struggle a bit with. The bass is still clear with plenty of volume, and the headphone isolates well. In general I'd say get a closed back headphone that is light, and has a cable that is not too heavy, and try to get something in the 80Ohm range. Beyerdynamic makes their Headphones with lower impedance options so that they can work with mobile devices, and many Audio Technica etc work great.
