Man when they said the trainer couldn’t have Archie be in class for being too hyper that really struck a nerve. I remember shadowing a training class for our anxious, shy dog and they said “if your dog won’t take treats and won’t participate they can’t be in the class”. Mind you, this was a class SPECIFICALLY for shy and anxious dogs. Their mentality for their training was “we can train your dogs if they’re already well-trained”. I was so glad I got to shadow before giving my money to them.
That's annoying. :T
Hopefully you were able to get your dog trained. Anxiety can be a taxing problem to work through, and it takes a lot of perseverance and patience.
Thats probably a good thing, a dog that nervous that even food wint help won't benefit from a class with so many people and other dogs. Trainer was probably giving u a heads up not to waste your money
Trust me they did you a Favour! You wouldn’t want to waste your time and money on someone who can’t Help you anyways! What kind of Trainer would even SAY that is Beyooond me really!
I. So sorry you had that experience! I’m a dog trainer and that makes my heart sad. Typically if a dog is unable to take any food this means that they are way over threshold and while they are in that state no real learning can be accomplished as their mind is not able to focus. That being said I can’t believe this trainer didn’t ALLOW you guys to be in class, what a horrible experience. ❤️
I got so lucky with my trainer in puppy class. My girl was SO energetic and excited and couldn’t pay attention so he let our goal be getting her focus on me and he’d go over everything from class with me at the end. I got blessed with a super smart dog who didn’t need much direction to learn. Again, I got super lucky. So many trainers will write off a dog who isn’t the dog they *want* to train.
The fact that these owners accepted the damage done to their home and still gave 110% to learn how to handle this dog speaks volumes to their character. Great job.
Oh hey look, a positive response! Way to go you for not being toxic! 😀
“They still gave 110 to learn how to handle this dog speaks volumes to their character.”
The owners have a lot more patience than I would have (and that’s me being honest).
Absolutely!
No, it shows that they should have called a real trainer much earlier and sort out these dogs.
What a nice couple. So good to see people who admit their faults and are willing to listen and learn.
@@spacesloth0212 That’s a misconception caused by the process that tv producers go through to ensure tv shows appeal to the viewers of each specific country. Which means American owners get picked specifically for the drama while UK owners tend to be picked more broadly. Another place this is seen is in Gordon Ramsay’s shows. He seems a lot more angry in the American shows because Americans (enough of them to matter) love that. I think US super nanny is also way more dramatic. Lol
Omg wow that discusting, they clearly just want people's money glad they didn't get yours
I like how their other dog is like "maybe we'll finally get some peace around here!" Lol
He/she is such a good doggo!!
I really liked this couple. They were not threatinging to give up the dog, they admitted their faults and were completely on board completing the training. Hope they have a very good future together
I found them likeable too. They were honest with Victoria and owned their errors. Hope they’re doing great.
i love that right from the top they admit their lack of research and screw ups and that they don't know what they're doing, and Victoria doesn't need to actually tell them that
At least the owners are honest about what they did
Yeah, I like how they actually admit and owe up to these things.. unlike some others on this show.
The trainer saying they can’t have an over excited puppy in class says more about that trainer than any one else. Can’t believe they would turn away some one in need of help unless they were not qualified to be training.
Ensuring a good learning environment for a group training is a very professional thing to do. If one dog simply destroys the learning environment then the other dogs in the class can't learn either. I think the actual message was that the dog can't be trained in a group, but needs (more expensive) one-on-one training.
@@vulc1 Or they are simply taking the easy already well behaved dogs, because they don't have the expertise or will to get a more challenging one. Schools do this to people as well, all in the name of the "learning environment"
@@vulc1 It sounds as if the trainer rejected them instead of recommending alternative training until the dog was more suitable in a group environment
@@samanthaabreu782 It is the right thing to do. People & dogs with Special Needs require different teaching / training. Especially when the Special Needs make them act very disruptive & aggressive. Would you like your kid to be in class with another kid who keeps shouting and throwing stuff or who might even attack your kid?
@@vulc1 This is such a twisted way of looking at people - and children in particular. While I do agree that special needs children need help and resources in areas other children usually don’t - immediately jumping to the conclusion that they’re aggressive (and might attack your child) shows an incredible lack of understanding for the vast diversity of issues that are sorted into the “special needs” category. Just because a kid has adhd or autism, for example, doesn’t immediately mean that they’re aggressive. Nor does it have to mean that they’re disruptive - provided they are given the proper care and too to cope with their diagnosis.
I love binging this series even though i don't have a dog and I'm not planning on getting one soon...I just love dogs and Victoria's personality so much HAHAHAH
I agree! She seems lovely ☺️
I don't have a dog either..😁
same
Well I don't like dogs at all, but Victoria's series alone would stop me from having a dog, if I did like them.
same
Can you imagine taking your dog to a trainer or class and they tell you, "This dog is too much to train!" Understandable that people lose hope in that situation. Usually you just need a better qualified professional- vet behaviorist is the safest option.
I think the actual message was that the dog can't be trained in a group, but needs (more expensive) one-on-one training.
We took our reactive rescue to a private trainer who spent 30 minutes with her and said this dog is aggressive and needs to be put down. I hate to think how many dogs have lost their lives because she can't deal with a more difficult case. Thankfully we've now found a forcefree trainer that works with reactivity in abused dogs, and we're already seeing changes!
Sure, 99,9% of positive-only guys do that because cookies do not fix issues like this.
@@marektruper4242aggressive techniques fail and do not fix issues like this
@@TheEliKaulitz I would be so mad. My mother worked with a LOT of dogs. . .and went out of her way to help those with reactive dogs and how to navigate with them. I think of the likely several hundred she worked with over the years there was ONE that she deemed too reactive and unpredicatable for her to feel safe dealing with. . .a traumatized reactive mastiff that probably outweighed her by a good twenty to thirty pounds.
There are a small handful of dogs that are just not safe, and too reactive to be handled. . .but they are so few and far between that any trainer not willing to at least recommend someone else is failing their clients.
I’ve noticed that in a lot of these homes that you wouldn’t be able to tell dogs lived there if you didn’t see the dogs! When I lived with my bf he wanted all their stuff put away and they didn’t have access to toys or bones anywhere but my bedroom. Now that I live alone it’s obvious I have pets, it’s not dirty just pet friendly. This is their home just as much as mine, they don’t destroy anything cause there’s toys and bones everywhere to keep them busy.
Choose better bf. Dog lover.
If they have ancient loved dog, that's a great chap.
The training of Archie the lurcher was fantastic. He really is a lot of fun to walk and play. Just enjoyed this very much. I am a cat person who would love a senior dog.
Senior dogs are brilliant as first dogs!
Oh, please go ahead and take in one of the many older dogs in need of a home. Sometimes, very well-behaved senior dogs become homeless when their elderly owners can't take care of them anymore.
this couple was so lovely and eager to learn from the very best! we adopted a rescue lab mix puppy a couple months ago, will definitely be using these great training tips - thanks victoria! 🧡
you should know that most rescue dogs that are labeled as "lab mix" are usually part or all pitbull - that may be a positive or negative depending on your personal view, but given that Victoria gives specific tips for bully breeds that may be helpful, I thought I'd pass on the observation.
@@Noreen_Ni_Riain oh yeah! i read about that, so, we actually did a DNA test to see how we could best care for him, love him and set him up for success - he ended up being 80% lab (with some ACD & pointer)! i appreciate your advice, thank you 🧡
Nice to see dog owners that actually care about their dogs and are willing to put some work in once given proper advice and tools.
The Flirt Pole is an awesome, awesome tool. Great way to drain energy quickly, gives the dog satisfaction from "catching" prey. Also a good tool to teach impulse control and drop it and leave it. My dog loves this. We don't play long as he tires fast, five or ten minutes is enough for him but he gets so excited when he sees the flirt pole and he is panting happily afterwards.
This is why it's so important for people to understand that dogs are individuals with their own personalities and needs. And when you get a puppy (or a shelter dog, since they can sometimes be shut down at the shelter and seem calm then they relax and are hyperactive) you should be prepared for them to be different from past dogs, especially if you've only had one and it was well behaved. This couple seems like they genuinely get that they've made some bad decisions out of not knowing any better, and now that they do, they want to improve. When you know better, you do better, it's much easier said than done but these two exemplify it!
Victoria works her fabulous training with great results again! Yay, Victoria! So glad that the dog owners got control of their dog before he was fully grown.
Good job! Loved seeing video all at one time. Helps me see how each piece fits into the whole training experience. You go, Victoria, you rock!
👍
I love it when Victoria pulls a toy out of nowhere. I never know if she has one on her or not 😂
And treats 😃
Maybe she has the same bag _Mary Poppins_ has that can just procure anything.
and the greyhound is an angel. i LOVE greyhounds
I wish they would put the minutes it took for the dog to calm down. That would help the viewer to get a realistic expectation of how long it takes and how much patience we need when training our dogs.
When training animals it doesn’t matter how long it takes. May take 2 minutes with one dog and 2 hours with another. But you must be consistent, patient and not overwhelm the animal.
Well, each dog is different so it would be difficult to put a time limit. Suffice to say it's important to keep each session short so the dog and trainer don't get bored or frustrated. My dogs get several short sessions daily. I own a Greyhound,Golden retriever and an Anatolian Pyrenees. Each one has different issues and needs. They range from 6 months to 31/2 years.
This was a great episode! I liked seeing how to stop the humping and jumpy, mouthy behavior.
What a happy episode. Great training for the dog, and a really lovely couple.
What a darling couple! Good luck to them!
I’m so glad you are back Victoria! I love the dog transformations. Thank you🐾❤️
Another brilliant job by Victoria! Thank you so much for all you teach us about keeping our pups content, happy and healthy!
I LOVE the full episodes! Have been watching this show for years now! Lots of hugs from Norway
There is no greater sight than a sighthound running ❤❤❤
You deserve best dog trainer award 🥇 Victoria I love you ❤️
WOW this is one of my favorite episodes ever i think!! this dog's expressive energy is just adorable.
7:08 the outlet-bucket demonstration is awesome.
17:04 is a lovely insightful moment.
If a “trainer” told me my puppy was too much I think I’d leave a long detailed review! That woman has no business calling herself a trainer.
Sam seems really lovely. He has a good attitude
I was shocked when they said they went for puppy training but the woman doing the training said he was too excited and sent them away. I mean...what exactly is her job if not to teach both pups and their owners how to deal with this kind of stuff?
I'm sure the trainer would have loved to teach them had the couple hired the trainer for (more expensive) one-on-one training. But from what I gather, inviting Victoria was the couple's first one-on-one training attempt.
“Didn’t know I was meeting an artist” 😂😂😂😂😂
If every dog owner would be this committed, there would be no issue with having to rehome dogs.
Such a beautiful dog! Love the couple too. So honest people.
lmao 4:22 the doofus just plopped down at her feet barking straight at Victoria's face 😂
I am a dog trainer too . Ball with treats to keep him busy.
Thanks for helping them.
Love your training and videos!!
This world needs more Victoriaś
Good to see someone else also has a dog towel on top of a heater right next to their front door 😂
I thought fire hazard!
@@imalwaysright Heaters that run on hot water are safe to cover, but electric heaters are a fire hazard if covered. I don't remember the science behind it though.
Lurchers are so beautiful when they run
“But worst of all”
“The humping…”
My man sounded traumatized-
Great vid, enjoyed watching, thank U.😃😃
He really is a beauty just b patient he loves both of u for saving him
Was he adopted? I think they got him at 10 wks. Looks like a bought puppy.
Could be a rescue. Looks like an Afghan x. Not the brightest of dogs...
0:23 i think i saw some ptsd in that man's eyes
Looks like Archie is smiling 😁
I will admit that my girl isn’t a great walker, she needs to be socialized with other dogs. She spent almost all of her first year of life in a shelter, so she doesn’t really know how to be a dog outside. She is weirded out by all outdoor sounds and creatures. She’s been such a dream to train inside, I just need another person to help me work with her outside in a safe environment on socializing her.
Archie is so cute lol that smile and that face.
Aww such a adorable dog 🐶 💜
I like these owners
The UK show has much better than the us for the owners
Victoria is so lovely!! Love her!! 😍😍😍😍
Best couple ive seen in this show
Loved the greyhound ♥️ my favorite dogs ever.
Looks like an oversized cat toy. Brilliant!
A detailed picture has begun to emerge of the outright epidemic of uncastrated humpers in the UK
GOOD PEOPLE❤
I like the bucket metaphore. I found that helpful. 👍🙂
You are most incredible person ever Victoria I love you 💕
People should get dogs that fit their lifestyle. Do your research. I hate when people gets dogs because their “cute.” So many dogs end up in pounds because they were cute. At least they admit it and are trying to work with him now.
The dog was so CUTE as a puppy
90% of these dogs lacks training or proper exercise or leadership, or all three put together. Why people don't understand the importance of educating and training your dog? It's not that hard if you are consistent with it 🤣
I would say that if I take my dog to a trainer and the trainer says my dog is too much, I would feel very down, because if a dog trainer can handle a dog, who else could?
My other issue is when Anyone comes and goes through front door he gets over excited barking and jumping(not aggressively! I've tried ignoring negative behavior, rewarding positive behavior treats when waiting patiently, making him wait in other room etc. and regaurdless once praise is over or he is allowed in room he starts barking and jumping around on furniture and people! That's the Only time is the dang front door! Oh, he's a mini Australian Shepard, but gets allot of attention and activity!
It's Me or the Dog actually has videos on that... a bunch of them for different breeds. So you came to the right place
You should basically de-sesitise the dog to anything related to the front door. Have a friend go in and out multiplke times and at irregular intervals. Eventually he will stop barking and understand it;s normal
Remember that these videos are edited so lots of progress fits into 20 minutes. In real life it takes lots and lots of time and consistency -- weeks or months of practicing every day -- to see a total improvement. Keep at it!
@@kaclama This is the most aggravating issue we have with him and we been trying to break him of it from a pup, he's 5 now, Ughhh he will sit, stay, come, drop it you name it but that door... Ugghhh! I'm not giving up something will work just gotta figure it out!
Nota dog trainer but you need to remove him to timeout or friend leaves until he can be calm. Repeat until he learns that over excited behaviour will just get him removed. Praise when calm with visitors.
i cannot understand why people use a stretch leash for a big uncontrolled dog
At one with your dog 🐶 😊
I have realised the other dog here was completely left out I feel sad for the lil dog
is it just me or was the old series longer in terms of episode length?
Yes, it is the old one
So they didn't train their puppy at all after one person said hes to hyper
Archie is so handsome!! 🤍
AY THATS THE NARRATOR WHO WAS IN PEPPA PIG 💀💀💀
I use a Halti on my beautiful Am/Euro Great Dane. I do flip his lead around him for a 'no fail'. This double lead thing i need to find. That'll fit him or I coukd pattern out of leather.
YAY SO EXCITED!! 💗
Train the hooman and the dog will learn.
Heck, he could be a guide dog for the blind!
Why get a working dog and then not provide the proper outlet for that working need? This was easy to see in the first 90 seconds f the video. A dog not being challenged appropriately. For heavens sake. We can see that common sense isn’t common at all.
Scared to take the lead on her own happy care free loving dog!!?! I am so happy for them they took the time to understand this poor Archie!
He is beautiful, reminds me of my afghan hounds when they were puppies. The look, not the behaviour
Give your dog a little treat also, so he will not be chewing things in the house.
What brand of chest harness is this, does anyone know?
It's so weird that they went to get him training as a puppy and the trainer told them that they can't have an overexcited puppy there. The point was to help them. I think they should've found another trainer/training class.
I'm also a huge fan of the front clip harness. I have a 100 pound mutt and he walks great
I recently got a puppy of my own, so I'm taking a break from training my neighbors dog. But today I realized that my dog, a six week old female German shepherd mix, was humping me. She is too young to get spayed. And she didn't even get all her vacations yet. Do you have any tips on how to stop her from humping?
Six weeks is too young to be away from the mother. 8 weeks for dogs for being away from their moms and 12 weeks for being away from their moms
@@jilldurham5498 I am not completely sure about her age, but we were told she is six weeks old and has been living almost a month without her mom. So I doubt that she is actually six weeks old
@@sapluna6514 well than she might be and you didn't get her from a reputable breeder
@@jilldurham5498 I adopted her from a shelter
humping is not solved by spaying or neutering ! dogs do it to play or communicated dominance. Best is to keep a colar and correct her by controlingthe colar when she does it
love your vidos🙂🥰
My boy walks pretty well for me, but my issue is Litterly every harness I have used on him he gets out of! I tighten it still next thing I know he's out!
You might want to check out greyhound harnesses
Don't use a harness at all what a husky use to pull a sled a harness it encourages pulling
You might wanna check out Ruffwear, ive heard they have good harnesses for dogs who get out of harnesses easily
@@meaganhoffman8255 That's actually a myth! If that would be truth, huskies would never stop running! Training is the key and a harness is a healthy way to keep your dog under control.
@@meaganhoffman8255 That's the weird thing he doesn't pull to get out! I took him to the vet and while we were just sitting there waiting to go back to a room there was no tension or anything next thing I know he was walking away, then checking out as I signed the receipt there was no pulling or nothing and he just walked away! He got out of it 3 times that day the harness was still latched and everything! Luckily we were inside and he didn't run or anything and he's friendly with other animals, but if he got loose in high traffic areas or with allot of commotion outside not sure what he'd do! I have No idea how he slips out so easy it's usually when my eyes are distracted(watching surroundings etc.) He's deffinately got my vote for the next Houdini lol!
I find it so odd that in every jumping case, nobody ever brings their knee straight up. Not into him, just uncomfortable landing.
💞 Victoria! 🤗
That dog needs a kong toy
😅😅 dude im alone in here
I learnt as much as this couple!
I love dogs and cats both... But I now have chronic pain from a syndrome.. so I'm going to get a cat this time .. I just can't even risk being yanked by a dog
is it possible a service dog might be able to help you? They never pull, and if you need it, they could do tasks for you if your chronic pain makes it difficult to do certain things ^^
Or look at a small elderly dog. AND a cat. Or maybe a little blind dog.
You can offer to foster little old dogs until you find a perfect one - but get a cat, too. Cat with old dog or blind dog. Perfect - and will amuse you
Who in their right mind gets a lurcher as a pet? The least they could do is have the dog compete in agility, or other sports. Lurchers are working dogs. They need to have a job. Whether it be sports, or hunting. This dog is very clearly overstimulated and in need of a job. What a shame.
I know... I felt so bad for him feeling so incredibly frustrated -I mean chewing the Floor!? And looking at the damage - that wasn't done in 5 minutes either. I'm surprised his teeth are still in working order.
I think if you were really experienced with sighthounds or high energy breeds they could make a good pet, but that's the difference... experience. The kennel club near me has a lady with 2 of them (her's are wolfhound crosses) and they are dolls! I've got a borzoi so I've let them run with her occasionally and both of us agreed that us living on farms with wide open fenced spaces helps immensely with their need to run full out and come inside to relax.
Let's get a dog with zero regard for the job that dog was bred to do. It'll be FIIINNNE.
Can we talk about how hot the dude is!!...like is no one noticing 🤤🤤🤤
The girlfriend did!😂
Hi
And then there's me wanting a fecking kangal...
Definitely needs training
I love the dog
2hours what ohh its okey
What a beauty why get him fools
Some dogs are not appropriate in a class but a few private sessions should get them well on the road to being in a class. I have been in classes with wild dogs and it is not fair to everyone else in the class to have a wild child taking all the trainers attention and you don't get the training help you took the class for
nah! they just happened to meet a wrong trainer. If they searched more they might find the right trainer who would allow them to join a puppy class.
