    Never heard such nonsense as in this "review." This car is VERY reliable! The engine and transmission last 300,000 miles with no problem. It does not "eat" tires! It's good on the road! Anyway, it's a tank that will last you for years and years without many problems!

      2004 ml350 here. Nearly 400,000k original engine, original transmission.

    Not to nitpick but those second row seats DO fold flat. The headrests have to be removed then you pull both handles on the sides and it dives forward.

    The first generation ML is a body on frame design and newer ones and the GLE are more of a unibody design.

    I have my second ML 500 2005 special Edition and just hit 200,000 miles. The car is pretty much bulletproof, I put a complete stainless exhaust on mine so when you put your foot down it growls! K and N intake and I be replaced the alternator and Radiator myself! These cars are easy to work on and U tube provides the education! The one thing I did do was install Cross drilled and vented carbon fiber brakes on mine which has me stopping on a dime with no fade. The other thing I do every 30,000 miles is change my trans fluid and filter!

    I have the exact same model as the one in the video: same colour, same everything. The only difference being that mine is right-hand drive because I live in South Africa. I purchased it two months ago and am really happy with it.

    We are an original owner of a 2000 ML430 (4.3L V8) with some of the better options, like the bigger brakes, 3rd row seats, the wider but less tall tires...and so far its not really given us any major issues, at around 275K miles we done a whole bunch of suspension work so that will go for another long while. Also ur 2004 seems to have much more rust than ours and is missing the floor boards that connect to the back of the second row seats that makes the floor level, also the 2nd row seats do in fact fold all the way down.

    I had one and am about to by another one today. Absolutely bullet proof. They are tanks. Just replace the alternator for phantom drain and the brake light switch when the rear brake light goes out and you’re good to go.

    The Mercedes W163 is by far one of the greatest SUVs to ever exist. I have daily driven 4 of them
    ML320 - (98, 99 ,00) ML350 - (04) for the past 10 years. Never have had an issue or left stranded on the road. All reached the 250k mile mark. Big mistakes that M Class owners do is have mismatched tires, and the other is a weak battery or wrong size battery. Wow the problems they had were like somebody saying I had to change oil in it again! This is the vehicle to buy now because in a few more years the price will sky rocket. Collectors will be collecting. Dont buy a rust bucket like that one. Oh yeah big whoop the battery was dead in it before your review, wasn't the fault of the ML!

    I had one, the best is security and cubic metric capacity, but it has the worst: stupid electric issues from sensors to dead batteries due to daily electric discharges. Russians have all these issues pretty well figured out and used the ML's off-road and they do the job incredibly well.

    In 2016 the ML was renamed to GLE because the Mercedes suv line up is G and the other letters indicate the size. And I believe the 2012-2015 ML/2016-2019GLE uses a platform derivative of the 2011-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee ( WK2 ) and the third generation Dodge Durango. My mom has a 2016 Mercedes GLE 350 4matic.

    Third row seats were available in this model, but they're so small that they're kinda useless if you didn't have young children. So most owners, like this one removed them. That explains why they moved to a unibody design for the second generation and released the GL in 2006, and the R class in 2007.

    • @lopezlopez7132
      @lopezlopez7132 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, and the other reason they moved to unibody is that unibody rides more like a car, while body on frame rides like a truck and a lot of customers never take these vehicles off road and they want more comfortable ride.

    This one has the old man colorway. Old man gold with hearing-aid two-tone tan inside. Except for the rust this one looks nice for its age. The rust is probably even worse under it. And then there's the famous modern German reliability... I don't blame the prior owner for trading it for a Chevy.
    Low range on a family SUV that's not really intended to go off-road is odd but cool. Power vent windows are cool. I've always liked how Euro cars have a full phone keypad on the radio. Rear fog lights are cool when used properly.

    • @damilolaakanni
      @damilolaakanni 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mercedes actually intended for this to replace the already outdated G Wagon, but that sold so well that they scrapped the idea and released the GL to close the gap between the G wagon and this.

    • @damilolaakanni
      @damilolaakanni ปีที่แล้ว

      Rust...it's a body on frame SUV, when it's exposed to salt it speeds up the rusting process. Just like Volkswagens and Toyoyas. As for reliability, I've heard that the engines are pretty reliable (they'll definitely have their issues), but German brands aren't really great with electronics, especially late 80's-early 2000's Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen models.
