As an only child in a household where the book ‘Love and Respect’ was treated as a God-sanctioned weapon by my father, I am so grateful that I found your work on the cusp of getting married. It has helped me heal from a lot of the trauma of witnessing that toxicity growing up and saved me from bringing any of that turmoil into my marriage.
    Thank you so much. ❤

It's interesting how you mentioned so many women complain about feeling "used" after sex with their spouses. I'm 35 now, but I remember hearing in school about how guys only want sex when you're dating, they'll use you for sex then leave you, they only see you for sex, etc. Then people still act surprised when those same messages get carried over into marriage.

This!!! Yes! How do we ever actually trust our husbands when this is drilled into as a young woman! Like we’re supposed to just flip a switch?

Isn't it ironic that Purity Culture and porn teach the same message. No regard for women's pleasure or the way women's bodies actually work; reliance on P in V sex with no foreplay for men's orgasm with no regard for women's orgasm based on the myth that the Magic Penis will do it all; and when she complains of pain and/or says no it means to do it more. Thank God for Sheila, Keith and Rebecca and their work and their courage to combat these damaging messages!

I think every woman Christian or not needs this in their life.

I have to disagree with Sam. An addict absolutely CAN fake connection. And wives that say that they can feel something is off when their spouse is using are kidding themselves. Users may not fit the clinical definition of addiction, but they share one of the most seminal behaviors with addicts. They lie. And lie, and lie, and lie, and they are very good at it. I don't think it's possible to be too cynical when you are the spouse of a porn user.

I'm certain you are correct with a certain percentage, but not all. You can't possibly know the circumstances of everyone in that situation.

You believe what you want. That is always your right.

It's not about believing. I'm referring to using data versus ideas. You can have the idea that all porn users are alike but you cannot support that idea with data. You can support the idea that some porn users are like that, not all, using data.

You're hilarious. It's not about data, because you can only be married to one porn user at a time. It's about how you choose to live your life. You can choose to trust an addict, or you can choose not to trust an addict. It's that simple. Plenty of people choose trust. But I think that's a stupid choice for me.

Hello Sheila , this is a bit off topic of this video and pretty sure you may not respond , but I have a question in regards to Josh Howerton , why did you single him out ? Of all the hundreds of churches in the United States of America and the rest of the world and you being in Canada , why would you single our a pastor in the smallest county in Texas to critique ? I’m not saying your wrong or right , just curious why Josh Howerton ? Did someone ask you to check him out ? Anyways just curious, Thanks

Maybe because he misused statistics in a way that hurts people and using statistics and research results correctly is part of their gig.

Maybe his name came up at random among the names of many other pastors preaching the same message in a survey of 20,000 Christian women and the video was such a perfect illustration of what not to do it created a teachable moment in their mission to repair Christian marriage.
