Beloved UstadJi. This video catures everything you had - technical skill, tempo, creativity, passion and most of all enjoyment. We all miss you. Rest in peace
What a clarity even at full speed that he plays I always.enjoy his tabla percussion we are lucky to see him playing live about Zakir what to say it's a god creation I pray to God for his long healthy strong life I want to here his tabla again and again
This is completely surreal. You really have to listen to it to believe that some of these sounds are even achievable. Hussain uses tablas to speak an impossible alien language. There are no effects happening here, it was actually filmed live. Stunning!
gosh never get tired of listening to him.. I first watched him play when he was 16 years old....and then he was sooooooooooooo good..he cant ever beat his own level of supremacy..he is the best
Pranav Kukreti this is basically laggi or two by two matra drut used in thumri and bhajan at the end part or returning to Som. in slow style it would be dhene ghere tekdin tene kete tendin then he does the ulta or reverse starting like kete taka tekdhin
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in music! The concentration, dedication and skill a person has to have to do such work is astounding.
Zakir...the passion with which you play is palpable. As with every Master, you become one with the music and your instrument. I am inspired. Thank you, Dear One, for sharing your music and talents with the world. :) Bhakti
Amazing!! I myself play tabla and can therefore really tell and relate to how difficult it is to play this.BUt the real beauty is that he can do it with such ease and such a relaxed and meditative face. It shows true mastery.
Wah Ustad...Zakir Hussain is My Idol..He has been My Idol since I started learning Tabala from My Childhood till now... Still I play Tabala by inspiring him...You are Great Sir...
WOW pure genius-- this guy has got at least three brains all working at the same time in a different place---how they manage to know where they are is beyond me. Most drummer have to know where the "ONE" is. but these players just seem to get into another zone.. simply amaazzzzing.
zakir was my teacher when i was taking tabla lessons at the ali akbar college of music in san rafael, california, and what was very obvious to me was that he had rhythm in his dna even more so than he could communicate. this is the most amazing thing about him.
Listen to Ustad Tari Khan's Teental solo (on youtube) when he was only 16. His performance then was extremely enjoyable and he has grown in his innovativeness. Ustad Zakir is excellent in his own way, but I find Tari sahebs performances to be far more enjoyable, and he shows his own enjoyment during performing.
Music is worship Brother Steven. Important thing is to make a little progress everyday. Check out musiciansmall if you live in the United States. Their Haridas Vhatkaar tabla is second to none.
the bhol is called dhenegene... its a advanced taal and takes time to play.. search for dhenegene in youtube and you will find a video where the bhols composition is posted..
Ustad ji, aapke Liye Ham Duaayein de sakte hain. Malik Aapko good health de baki U r also a YUGPURUSH. i m your FAN. Ye alag bat hai ki I M SITARIST.GOD BLESS YOU. THANKS
He starts with a famous Farukhabadi Peshkar, goes into famous Punjab relas, does some variations with the theka and then turns the theka into a Rela, and then does a brilliant ending with a Chakardar!
he is playing Dhit Gena Dhati Gena Dhit Gena Dhati Gena Dhit Gena Dhati Gena Dhit Gena Dhati Gina You can also play Dhit Gena Dhati Gena Dhit Gena Dhati Gena He play Dhit on tin with his index finger closed and his middle finger on the siaai. It is a difficult laggi to explain in words its much easier if you learn it face to face. That's how i learnt it. Hope this helps
SSGKashmirSoldier, just by the choice of your nickname we can see how your mind is enlightened. There is no point in comparing tabla players like "Tari is better than Zakir". Tabla players, thanks God, are all different, with different sensitivity and feelings when they play, that's what make music beautiful.
Zakir-bhai is no doubt one of the greatest tabla players and he has elevated the tabla player's role to that of an equal rather than a subordinate to the main artists. However, when playing solo, Zakir-bhai never lesiurely explores the composition, but rather always wants to start playing relas, laggis, etc. within the context of peshkar.
@avinashdixit01 Thank u, perhaps I too will try that. Maybe an hour first time then gradually increase the hours as the weeks go by and only keeping a small set of bols.
RIP, Beloved Master, Beloved Zakirji. Thank you very much, for everything, for your gifts, for being a vehicle for music
this is an amazing instrument - and an inspiring player! I'm a middle-aged lady who now feels like trying this myself!
Beloved UstadJi. This video catures everything you had - technical skill, tempo, creativity, passion and most of all enjoyment. We all miss you. Rest in peace
the hand strength required to do that is just intense. Those, professional tabla players are out of this world
What a clarity even at full speed that he plays I always.enjoy his tabla percussion we are lucky to see him playing live about Zakir what to say it's a god creation I pray to God for his long healthy strong life I want to here his tabla again and again
love the quintessential zakir hussain sound combined with very serious tabla matter.
This is completely surreal. You really have to listen to it to believe that some of these sounds are even achievable. Hussain uses tablas to speak an impossible alien language. There are no effects happening here, it was actually filmed live. Stunning!
gosh never get tired of listening to him.. I first watched him play when he was 16 years old....and then he was sooooooooooooo good..he cant ever beat his own level of supremacy..he is the best
unbelievable...
this guy is inspiration, ive been playing table for 7 1/2 months now, I hope to get to this level after years of playing...
Dhene Ghere tekdhin tekdhin nanakete is one of the most sweetest kaida I have ever played and when it is from Zakir , just wonderful.
Do you know what is the composition he starts playing at 3:30? I have been looking for it for a long time.
Pranav Kukreti this is basically laggi or two by two matra drut used in thumri and bhajan at the end part or returning to Som. in slow style it would be dhene ghere tekdin tene kete tendin then he does the ulta or reverse starting like kete taka tekdhin
Thankyou. Could you also tell me some variants of this theka?
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in music! The concentration, dedication and skill a person has to have to do such work is astounding.

WOW pure genius-- this guy has got at least three brains all working at the same time in a different place---how they manage to know where they are is beyond me. Most drummer have to know where the "ONE" is. but these players just seem to get into another zone.. simply amaazzzzing.
