Every night I as I prepare to sleep I listen to Indian Classical music, especially pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma. I find the santoor so peaceful and relaxing, perfect for nighttime. I think Ustad Zakir Hussain is excellent also, and together they make a divine duo. Thank you for sharing, Namaste.

Had the privilege of watching Panditji live at IIT Kanpur about 25 years back. He was a divine personality and so is his music. His demise marks an end of an era in the world of Indian Classical Music. There will never be a Maestro of his stature in playing Santoor..... RIP Sir.

I am always loving the sound of this instrument since my childhood but I didn't know the name of this instrument only when great Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma ji demies I come to know that this is Santoor and the Master is Sharma ji. I think like me most of people like this pleasant music but doesn't know the name of Instrument now only they also come to know, his contribution towards our music films etc is unique we lost our great legend. I saw shivkumar the first time at womad festival around 1996 in a (very) big tent, there was about 10 people inside, despite being about 15,000 people at festival, most were there for the rave evenings, what utter fools.😢

I am guessing that parts of raag sony was used in the HINDI MOVIE: PINJAR, background theme music, closing and opening credits,
"Aajh Akha Waris Shah nu"
** the Movie 'Pinjar':**
"Pinjar" is a movie set in 1947, during the time when India was divided into two countries, India and Pakistan. The word punjabi Pinjar means cage. The story is about a young woman named Puro. She is taken away by a man from the muslim community as as a way to take revenge. The movie shows Puro’s and the. millions of other girls/young women like her; the challenges and how this division of the country affects her and others' lives. It tells a story of loss, finding oneself, and being strong during hard times.
The song "Aajh Akha Waris Shah nu" plays at the start and end of the movie. It helps to show the movie's main ideas of separation and sadness. The song is sung by the Wadali Brothers and has no music from instruments like drums-just the singers' voices, which are very makes the listener CRY.
**Lyrics and Meaning:**
Amrita Pritam wrote the words of the song. She asks Waris Shah, a famous poet, to see the sadness caused by the country's division. Her words talk about the great sadness of millions girls/daughters of Punjab who were separated from their families during the Sikh Hindu and Muslim feud. The song's words are very emotional and match the movie's story.
Uttam Singh made the music for "Pinjar" and directed the music for the movie. He used a traditional type of Indian music, which fits well with the movie's historical and emotional story.
