    This guy is easily one of the coolest and most passionate designers at LEGO. When he pointed out that the DB5 uses the older tire/rim combo because of thicker sidewalls I was amazed that he would pay attention to details like that! He just gets it!

    • @R0Sch88
      @R0Sch88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Too bad the passion ended with his car and the Charger got the shorter end of the deal with little to no prints, ugly rims, way to sporty tires, an unrecognizable, cheap Vin Diesel minifig and in general a car that looks like it hit a wall at 200 mph and being flattened by a tank.

      @@R0Sch88 you do realize unlike a lot of moc builders they have a very limited amount of pieces and new pieces they can use. Also the set designer does not do all the printing and design work for the minifigs they have another person do that.
      And the tires? Bro they only have 2 tires to choose from for now in the standard sized cars, idk what you wanted but omg chill out.

    Big thumbs up. Really insightful interview. Hearing the designer, and visibly seeing the amount of work/consideration went into each of these models definitely adds to the excitement of having these built/displayed. Despite the obvious compromises both cars turned out great, and actually didn't expect to see any new elements on either of them, but nicely done with the DB5. Also having built quite a few Halo Wart Hogs over the years it's neat to see Lego finally release a similar smaller arch element with two attachment studs. I can also see that rear window mold being super useful in future SC cars. I feel this idea unofficially kicked off last year with the 8 wide 2022 Batmobile, and restructured Tumbler which were both fantastic at a proper 8 wide build so seeing SCs go in similar direction with outside of regular themed media based vehicles is absolutely amazing and has me excited which they may choose down the road in 2023. As for contenders. A proper 8 wide JP Explore, and I think the Mystery Machine could use a revisit. Would also love to Lego attempt a Christine though that may a little to adult to carry over into the theme.

  • @publicprofilename4273
    @publicprofilename4273 ปีที่แล้ว

    So that designer. He's single handedly sold me on Lego lol. I'm not a builder. I, and as an adult, have built very few sets. I did a couple Star Wars sets that were on clearance, and I built the "kreo?" Transformers, like 4 of them. That's really it. That being said, I am still sub'd to you, and a few other builder's pages, because I'm intrigued by the evolution of Lego, from when I myself, and my kids, were young. Just what all is involved now, and the level of detail that can be achieved is atounding. The price is also just as astounding, and the biggest hold up for me thus far. This guy right here, with his kid like joy and excitement when going over these, has convinced me to go ahead and purchase myself some of these sets. I think Speed Champions is the way I'm going to go, as I'm a big car guy already. He sold me, and I'm going to drop some money on some of these now. I'm going to go ahead now, and curse you, Mr. Designer guy, on behalf of my wife lmao. She's not going to be your biggest friend now lmao. So, drums, music production and recording, lightsaber replicas, black series Star Wars, transformers, and diorama/display building are now going to be joined by, Lego building. And I'm not a "Jack of all trades, master of none" kinda guy. I'm more the "go hard, or go home" type. When I get into something, I don't mess around, so she's not going to be happy at all, and I'll once again, be the coolest grandpa ever. Most kids go to grandma and grandpa's house, and have a box, with their crappiest toys in it, that they don't miss at home, but not my grandkids lol. Mine have a massive collection, which for the most part, they're able to play with as their own. Obviously there are exceptions, such as a $300 MP transformer, but for the most part it's all open to them. I'm not so sure how the Lego is going to work out, but I.ll have some for them regardless, even if I gotta get stuff specific for them. Long winded way of saying it, but who cares. Now ya know a little about me, and you also know that you've got fans who are here specifically for you, and your presentation, even when not into Lego. Maybe I'm a rare exception, but I doubt it. So, keep it up buddy. From a down south American redneck, good job, keep it up, and I'm glad to be here.

    Loving the interviews with Chris! Keep them coming! DB5 looks fantastic! and I'm super stoked for that 1x2 inverted slope with the cut out! I have needed that piece for years!! [so much so that I asked for it in one of my videos (palace cinema limo MOC, 10min mark) last year] I think the rationale for the choice of cars and omitting the b-pillar are spot on. I'll definitely be getting the 007 DB5 right away!

    First, awesome video! Second, I love that speed champs are adding movie cars! Excited to see things like Jurassic park jeeps, updated Delorean, smokeys firebird, Austin powers jag and more! Excited to see where this goes! Also I love your excitement, and passion! Most of the feedback you’ve mentioned is the same as mine. I personally wish that lego were doing less concept cars in the main line and more production cars.

    Amazing design of the charger and DB5 Chris. I really hope you can add more stock SUVs into the speed champions line like the Latest Defender 110, Aston Martin DBX, Range Rover, Land Cruiser 300, etc.
    Or make a new lineup just to focus on daily cars. You guys already did the Urus!

    My favorite theme was Star Wars until Speed Champions switched to the eight side format. Lately thus theme has become my favorite line. I am excited for this movie direction of the line because I prefer the minifigs matching movie characters vs these traditional yellow headed figs matching drivers.
    I love this so much. I hope we see more classic cars.

    Really love this interviews and discussions with the designers. Thumbs up for Chris Stamp, he really shows how much passion, research, knowledge and talent he and his team put into those models... Speed Champions is really become by far one of the best LEGO lines (and I'm not a huge car fanboy). Good job RB to always bring interesting content on the channel!

    This was awesome, love the interviews with Christopher, his passion draws you in. Yesterday i finished a week of 2022 SC on my instagram, was quite surprising to see the feedback i was getting from those posts. There's a lot more people that are into SC than what i thought. Very excited to have these two new models in hand, the level of details is awesome and are both much different of the other cars we got in 2022 so tip of my hat to that. If there's one Lego theme that stickers doesn't bother me it's SC, without the stickers it would be impossible to achieve the level of details needed for this car, yes printed parts are awesome but then... some models would get super expensive if it was all printed parts. This theme is still within reason price wise, please make so it remains that way.
    Finally what i would like to see is the main car from Initial D, Trueno AE86.

    The DB5 looks far better as a real model on camera compared to the press release renderings. I'm still not sure if it's the best shape to build from LEGO, but they've done a great job by getting that close.

    I'm not always a fan of some of the Speed Champions double packs (I'm not a muscle car guy), but this theme is honestly one of the best in Lego's wheelhouse. I hope they never get rid of it and I hope they keep innovating and adding iconic cars to the theme. Classic F1 cars would be a welcome addition.

    Great interview! I have a much higher level of admiration for Speed Champions after seeing this. And YES 5 stickers is STILL 5 too many. For the price off these sets, they should ALL be printed pieces! We deserve and demand it! A single misplaced sticker can ruin a set and make a beautiful design hideous to look at
