over or underrated Lars is a tool and a one trick pony when it comes to percussion any fifteen year old in dci would crush him. So I call the millions that disagree sheep.
He was super tight with the pantera members too, basically everybody fucks with Jerry Cantrell, absolute legend and one of the best songwriters ever. He played with ozzy as well and then mike bordin from faith no more did drums for his album degradation trip and trujillo did bass. Definitely a super well respected guy from his peers
Jerry Cantrell is an American music legend...his song writing alone is brilliant...added to his musicianship...AIC are Hall of Famers in my book...Everyone from Phil Anselmo too Metallica...even Elton John has performed with AIC/Cantrell (LP)...
I love how James downpicks the intro RIff while Jerry alternate picks it, it kinds shows the habits of a metal and a Grunge player, i love them both though ! i wish Layne was there...
i find it hilarious how it's usually the megadeth fanboys outnumbering all the metallica fanboys, but on this video it's alice in chains fanboys outnumbering all the megadeth fanboys. fuckin sweet as.
some of you might recall that Robert Trujillo played on Jerry's Degradation Trip solo disc about 10 years ago, so those 2 would have known each other pretty well. Also saw Cantrell open for Metallica way back in 1998... what else can you say, its cool to see them all on stage together even if it is one of the easiest songs to play.
Trujillo and Cantrell go way back. Suicidal Tendencies and AIC toured with Pantera in 92 I think and it was at that time that Robert said to Jerry that if he wanted to jam to give him a call. Jerry remembered that when he couldn't get Inez to play bass on Deg Trip.
They look like they're having a blast just playing together. So much so that James nearly forgot he was supposed to be in place at the mic after the bridge. Way cool.
honestly think they should have kept that going and maybe given Jerry a chance for a responding solo can you imagine what that would have sounded like !
I fking love Robs moves and personality, Kirk Hammett great as allways, James too, Jerry, what can you expect from jerry.... 10/10, but... Lars... come on lars, if i was the proffesor from Whiplash i wouldn,t throw a chair on you, i would throw the entire IKEA
One of the best Metallica songs... stuttered but ruthless pacing, Edgar Alan Poe styled lyrics, harmony, solos, it crunches like a well-timed upper-cut. Alotta fun.
Metallica: My Favorite Band of all time Jerry Cantrell: From my second favorite band of all time, Alice in Chains For Whom The Bell Tolls: My Favorite song of all time. This is magic here
They're old friends. I was at a Metallica and Alice in Chains concert once, except AiC never came, trouble with Layne I guess. That was Stockholm back in... 92 or 93, had to travel for hours and hours. Went mostly for AiC so that sucked.
"Og hva spiller de så?" Fedt i tog helt over for at se drengene. Må have været noget helt specielt. Tak for alle uploads'ene så vi andre ku få et indblik i sagerne :-)
Listen Lars haters nobody, not Lars or Lars fans have ever labeled him the best technically, however there aren't to many with his passion, who beats his drums with that much hate! Love! Anger! And passion!! Especially in his early days! Have you seen Harvester of sorrow in Moscow, I believe it was 1991?! Just beats those things clenching his teeth! Love it! I'd rather have someone like that than someone who is technically better but whose expression hardly changes or you can't see the Anger and passion...!!
Jerry , of course, since he is not a Metallica member doesn't perform this song often so he was really focusing the whole time looking at the strings to play it perfectly. I thought that was really cool
When he says "Its the last time you will!" and the delay echos "will, will, will..." you can hear in the echo speed the tempo Lars is supposed to be playing.
People forget that AIC was closer to being a metal band than a grunge band. Dirt was heavy... even Sabbath inspired. His solo album Degradation Trip was pretty heavy and of course he did collaborate with Dime and Damageplan for Ashes to Ashes.
Brandon K Degradation Trip (Jerry's second solo album) was a heavy album. Mike Bordin of Faith No More on drums and Robert Trujillo on bass (both were then Ozzy's rhythm section)
Jerry Cantrell and Alice in Chains go way back with MetallicA. Go watch Alice in Chains unplugged. When they play 'Nutshell' MetallicA walks in the show, and this was just after they cut their hair. Check out the bass guitar and what it has written on it . Mike Starr made fun of em,God he was a good bassist also. RIP Mike, and Cliff
That was actually AIC bassist Mike Inez that did that and it was a good natured joke. If I recall they even did a little tribute to Metallica in that show. Not sure where to find out but I'm pretty sure I recall that.
Really hoping we get to see this happen again at sonic temple next year. Metallica is playing two nights plus Alice In Chains will be there so fingers crossed lol
4:00 Was seriously waiting for there to be a brawl between Jerry and Lars hahahaha. Facials were pricelessssssss! Awesome muso's, how could you hate this?
Everybody loves Jerry. What a dude.
Everybody

Jerry I could see had a hard time playing this not used to playing that type of music
Jerry is VERY underrated as a musician and guitarist!
Try listening to their album Ride The Lightning :)
Eric Cartman There are millions that would disagree with you.
Including me, but that doesn't make his opinion any less valid

I don't care how good of a drummer he is or isn't; I think their music sounds good (well, their old music mostly)
I like the crowd going Jerry Jerry at the beginning of the video
Just like jerry springer lol
ME TOO!!!!
Jerry is the boss! And all the Metallica boys know it
I’m unsure whether the crowd loves Metallica or Jerry more. Everyone loves Jerry, as they should.
He just goes with everything!
Friends don't let friends get hair cuts. ;)
you mean Friends haircuts. Jesus, Jerry!
Just commented on your pinch harmonics vid. Here you are keeping the friends hair cut joke ETERNAL.
friends dont let friends get friends haircuts*
Well if it's not Mike. You watch Metallica live videos regularly, don't you? 😊
I remember that on MTV 😂
Isn't Jerry the most coolest guy ever? He jams with bands like Pearl Jam and also, Metallica! Such a complete guitarrist!
Jerry have metal roots too
Believe me, you get mocked a lot if you have the name Jerry.
I love the fact they dialed him up. You can hear every note he plays. Awesome !
Jerry Cantrell and Metallica. My dream has come true
th-cam.com/video/KXSquY3bPNo/w-d-xo.html have you seen this one?

It would have been cool but i dont think layne would have been there tho he and james hated eachother back in 91-92

for all of you who claim jerry is 'underrated 'he isn't.he is well known and respected and acknowledged alot by fellow musicians...
He's a musician's musician. Most musicians will know who he is and respect him, but the average person on the street will not.

It's pretty awesome to see Jerry playing heavier songs
People forget that AIC was closer to being a metal band than a grunge band. Dirt was heavy... even Sabbath inspired. His solo album Degradation Trip was pretty heavy and of course he did collaborate with Dime and Damageplan for Ashes to Ashes.
New aic riffs are heavier than new metallicas
You should really revisit AiC's first three albums and Jerry's two solo albums. AiC were not a lounge music band. Jerry is the riff master :)
