I'm still not sure if Dave has ever 100 percent got over being kicked out of Metallica, despite what he went on to do with Megadeth. For what it's worth, I think being kicked out of Metallica was for the best. Dave would have continued to be volatile if he'd stayed with them, causing a lot of internal strife. And also, I don't think Dave was very good at doing the really fast leads sort of required of a thrash metal lead guitarist. He got better at it during Megadeth's time, but his live playing with Metallica was tough to listen to at times. Fast, but tuneless.
Great seeing Jason there. Dude took a beating from the band at a dark time. Dave is insane how he showed up in excellent form. Ron and Lloyd were instrumental to the beginning of this band. This must have been insane to see live.
@@ityo39 he might be better than Kirk sometimes. But I don't think it was a speed issue. I think he improvise everything and it went that way. Like if he didn't give a f*** about playing it well
@g32.recitales I'm pretty sure it might be because he's used to playing megadeth songs. Both bands are different styles but I'm glad they occasionally get together still. They are rlly good :).
That was nice. A recognition of previous band members. That was epic and they all played and there was synchronicity with EVERYONE. It takes a big man with an inverted ego to go with it. Man, I love James Hetfield. He somehow knows how to diffuse a situation and make it all work for all parties involved. James is WISE.
love that they can keep the past in the past and see dave get some vindication. even dave kept a good attitude when they played master of puppets as megadeth received their first grammy
i dont know how they never release this officialy: a 5 dvd box set with all the 30 anniversary shows with somo kind of docummentary, a photo book etc etc... i really dont understand, cmon lars!
The Orion festival was a BLAST!! Getting to see them perform Ride The Lightning and The Black Album in their entirety each of the two nights they headlined was 🤌
Personally I would have given Dave a second chance to prove himself, however I wasnt there and I respect their decision. Wish nothing but the best for Dave Mustaine and Megadeth as well as Metallica.
And prove himself he did. Metallica might be the more commercially successful out of the two bands, but musically they will never reach Megadeth's level
I’m always been a Metallicafan but l really have to admit, Dave Mustaine rocks!🤘 What a man… He is a phenomenal guitarplayer and he was there when Metallica made their groundwork for their epic «Kill ‘em all» and «Ride the lightning». And then you have everything he has done with Megadeath. Its freakin’ amazing. You have to be made by the right material in order to be a modern trash-rock legend while simultaneous working hard to empty all the tons of bottles of alcohol (and tons of weed) he did.
Check out that Washburn A20 bass that the original bassist is playing. Carlos Cavazo played a black on in Cum On Feel The Noize and Metal Healt and made it 80s famous.
I'm not sure they needed to. The guy probably had his matters in order earlier than the other guys. They may have moved to big time in the 90's, but I reckon Ron already had his life figured out by then.
This Dave Mustaine guy’s a phenomenal player… looks like he’ll have a hell of a career ahead of him

Look no disrespect to Dave but Megadeth is not in the same league as Metallica
Im gonna go make my own band! With black jack! And hookers!
@@markwhewell4265 ur right. Megadeth is in a much bigger league than Metallica's sorry asses LMAO
Multiple bands really, under the same name
I've never seen this before, but if there's one word I've learned to appreciate in life.... It's reconciliation.

@MiguelGutierrez-vs9zu I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up!

Cool to see Jason and Dave together
Always thought Jason would be Junior's perfect replacement in Megadeth
9:10 - Kirk is seriously the nicest dude in metal. Just happy to be there, enjoying the moment, having a good time.
Honestly so is Marty Friedman
Did you forget about the drummer from nirvana and also frontman for foo fighters

I’d put Dave Murray from Iron Maiden in the “nice dude, happy to be there” category as well

I think Metallica might need some practice before playing Holy Wars 👍
While Lars pulls out his St. Anger snare just to spice things up
Or how about Mechanix/ four horsemen!!!
Drummer of Metallica wouldn't keep up
I keep hearing Dave's past interviews in my head as I watch this. "He makes good use of what skill he does have," Dave referring to Kirk.

Insane how much talent is on that stage. Mustaine playing always blows my mind.
Dave: faster
Debatable. Besides, faster does not equal better. It can be better but it can also just sound like a jumbled mess. Metallica = heavier.
