    I have one of these on a B&S 22 HP engine. These work great for a few years, then the heat and dirt get to the plastic part of the valve and they cease to operate smoothly. Mine stopped working and the only way to change the oil was to remove the valve from the engine block, creating a mess.
    If you add this after market part, save you original oil plug, because you'll need it.

      Yeah this drain plug is the goofiest thing I've ever seen on a small engine. My Craftsman lawn tractor came with one of these on it. It worked maybe twice before it broke and came off while trying to open it and I ended up with oil all over my garage floor. I went to the hardware store and replaced it with a 3 inch pipe with 90 degree elbow and put a drain plug in it. That made oil changes super easy because now it cleared the frame of my tractor so I could easily put a pan under it.

      @@jeffbradley1466 I have a Cub Cadet XT1 with Kohler 7000 series 23hp and replaced it with John Deere AM131610 last year when the OEM style plug started leaking after 10.2 hours. Got through this year with zero leakage with the JD replacement drain plug.

    This yellow piece of crap is the worst thing ever. Don't use.

    After about 5 years on mine the yellow part popped off while mowing and lost all oil, luckily I saw it happen in time. Bad part and it's still on the new mowers ?

    Did you get it on your mower, is it working good ?

    Would not have this drain valve on any mower I own! It's hard to believe it is still being used on new mowers. My Husqvarna Briggs and Stratton had this valve and was all ways leaking oil. Would not stay tight, was not easy to get a wrench on to tighten without removing starter. I replaced it with the Briggs and Stratton upgrade drain valve. Got off Amazon

      This drain valve is right up there with the garbage gas jugs made now. Follow the money who invested in this and became rich.

    Any time you put on aftermarket parts you always have to deal with moving things around or modify something to make it fit. That is the suck part. VF

    quick question.. how are you removing the original square head oil plug?

    • @petervonpanda
      @petervonpanda  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used a small wrench. It took forever a quarter turn at a time.

      @@petervonpanda do you know what tool you need to get off the original oil plug? A wrench won't reach mine.

    I like your video but if I were you i'd go back to the old drain plug. Ive had some repair jobs where they say they cant get the engine to move and it turns out these stupid little plastic things get old and crack/ wear out and open on accident when they are not as tight anymore. Then you dump all your oil out and you have to swap your engine which is never fun.

    Wish i had drain plugs on my mowers. I have to turn the whole mower practically upside down. So stupid. Years ago the drain was on the bottom of the engine. So simple!! Everything stays clean. No spilling of oil.

    th-cam.com/video/O_gTahB33FA/w-d-xo.html This guy says the same as what i see in the comments--- this thing seems to fail. He shows another solution available from Briggs & Stratton. He works on a lot of equipment so imagine he would know. If you check his comments under the video, he has links to where you can buy at a discount.

    Biggest piece of crap. Came with. Y mower. The Collar that’s teflon coated, rotates 180 degrees even after tightened, leaks oil everywhere
