He was hilariously droll, like most of Simon Grey Characters... Got to meet him years later in NYC at a party for Beckett's 'All that Fall' with Eileen Atkins . As we were leaving, we found him out on the sidewalk , smoking with some cast mates. My date said," Sir Michael, you really Shouldn't be smoking, especially out here in the cold" 'Yes I know Luv, and I heartily agree.' he quickly replied. 'But my Doctor insists I smoke for my health!"
Alas true about Sir Michael and the stage - There is an interview with him on here from Cambridge, I believe, and the memory loss is more than apparent - quite sad, but he is still very much himself, Bless him!
michael your voice is incredible and you are an excelent actor. congrats! your english is difficult for me cuz I learn american English with slangs, but I try to listen and understand. thanks a lot.
Yes he's Irish born but been in England since he was five. It's not like he's going to have a rich Dublin accent when he's spent the great bulk of his life outside Ireland.
