I've just seen Five Minutes With: Richard E Grant and nothing prepares you for this. I cheered, I shouted, I fist pumped the air, I cried, I stood and cheered, it's absolutely everything you hoped it was going to be, I'm so proud to have seen it and I can't wait for you to see it.
I had the honour to chat with Richard E Grant at the west end first night party of Steven Berkoffs play EAST. He is the most down to earth, natural, unassuming , charming, open, intelligent and honest actor i've ever met. I've never forgotten it and this 5 minutes with was a delight to watch.
He used to do voice over at studio I worked for, and off duty so speak, he's very moody, and short with people. Although his assistant/agent was lovely. Perhaps too many of the staff were trying offer him Sherry.. instead of a rhesus negative bloody mary! :-) A very talented actor nonetheless.
Richard E. Grant is a great actor, I'm a big fan. And if you are too you might enjoy listening to Grant reading the Audible version of Keep the Aspidistra Flying by George Orwell. It's an amazing performance.
I met Richard E Grant once in Brazil. We were involved in a helicopter crash together and had to survive for a week until we were rescued. He was a perfect gentleman throughout, just like in this interview. I will never forget the experience!
I've met quite a number of famous people in my time (I am not famous!) and Richard E Grant is as absolutely charming in real life as he comes across here.
'You're very Withnail' was one of the most stirring compliments that I ever received ! [Whilst photographing at a drug rehabilitation centre a few years back. The reality is, when I was c.19/20 I was very Withal - second hand coats, grandfather shirts, rollies, cheap cider - 15p 1/2/ pint, hitch-hiking . . . etc.]
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING THIS VIDEO I SIMPLY ADORE RICHARD E GRANT HES ONE ACTOR I WOULD LOVE TO MEET IN REAL LIFE LOVE ALL OF HIS MOVIES HE IS SO INTELLIGENT AND CHARMING AHHHHHH♥️
Tragic that Withnail and I was not a financial success. Excellent story, superb acting and directing. Richard is one of the most delightful people I have ever come acr5oss. I hope he continues to make great movies.

Oakleaf700 It had a budget of £1.1 million, but only drew in £565,116 making a loss of £534,888. I’m not sure if those figures include it’s cinema rerelease in 1997, though. Although I’d like to think that it’s surely more than likely to have made it back by now, what with its huge cult following and all.
@@EVILBUNNY28 That is so surprising! It is a superb film, but perhaps not ''mass media'' I was In the post office in a few years after release of the film , inBristol, and heard a Familiar voice and saw a familiar face...It was Paul McGann..He looked just like Marwood. He was chatting to the girl behind the counter, seemed a really nice bloke. It has some great lines..My son loves Uncle Monty's lines the best, perhaps as they are so funny :)
hey, did no one recognize him in GoT season 6 where he played an actor in Braavos :) i did. and thought: great thing that even for this almost cameo they had such great actor. interesting, what he would say about it... for me this part was one of best in series. meta-level - and i find irony that that is actually what GoT series is - rather crappy depiction of great text and events - and then blaming the text when they don't like it. this play they're acting, about events in Westeros.
No ur not I literally JUST watched that movie on demand. It's free right now along with part 2 and the disaster part 3. "Can I take that from you sir?" " over my rotting corpse" lmao!!
Yes, I agree, London is a special place in this planet. I also agree when he says there is no life after death. So no chance of being reborn in this part of the world...

There was a lot of information for a five minute interview: very precise and he even finished just before the timer went off 🤣✋

Love R E G, brilliant man, ace actor
I adore this wonderful man! Withnail and I is a perfect film. 🌷✨
His performance as Whitnail is extraordinarily.
Yes. And it was his first film.
5 min formula brilliant; interviewer and questions brilliant; interviewee and responses brilliant; what's not to like. Wonderful stuff
He still "speaks like someone from the 1950s" a bit. Sounds great.
blackmore4 Great fellow!
He grew up in eSwatini (Swaziland) with colonial servants, cricket and tea. Hia father was the top education official there so they were high up
He speaks with a British accent.
@@davidmeyer188 There's no such thing as the British accent because we speak English not British.

Cringed myself through that fake-posh interviewer
you are the fake .
His accent is not at all fake. He went to one of the best independent schools in England. If anything, he's probably toned down the poshness.
