Just get an oscilliscope on to the canbus network. You need to check the canbus high signal and the canbus low at the same time. You will see the signals should mirror eachother. Start unplugging one module at a time until the signal looks nice and clear. You will see that only one module is causing all this trouble and not all modules. The only way several modules get destroyed at once is not by lightning but by somebody connecting the battery backwards. Try unplugging one module at a time and try to start the car, even without an oscilliscope. Just clear the codes and start by unplugging one module and try to start the car. Then go on and reconnect it and move on to the next module and try to start it again. Sometimes a simple door module or seat module takes down an entire network and throws all kinds of codes in other modules. Good luck.

Crazy how electricity works. Everything checks out... yet nothing works. Makes you wonder in the future will there be some sort of new discovery that we've been ignoring all along to help remedy problems like this. Really cool about the tire... Makes sense, but I didn't realize to look and see those changes inside the tire. Hope you get the car up and running man! Thanks for sharing
@RuanSchneider-jd6fx have you considered repairing the ecus? There are a few places in the western cape that will have a look. Crappy time now as now most businesses are closed
An EMP from lightning strikes is very real. I once had a Volvo semi truck that was involved in a similar situation. The truck parked two spaces down from my truck was hit by lightning. The EMP fried every ECM in the my truck and trailer. It cost over $35,000 USD to repair the damage. Personally I’d rather have to rebuild the engine than chase electrical. Good luck !!
Ruan, I say go ahead with this Porsche, you have conquered other builds and proven your abilities. Your skills are better than german and italian professionals👌
Can you find a crashed one and take all the modules and wiring from it? I admire you for taking uneasy projects 😊 Whatever decision you will make will be the right one.
Check the ground nuts to see if a major size ground cable was removed. If removed while the car was running the alternator needs a ground path back to the frame. So it will find ground in all those modules. Naturally these grounds in the modules are not large enough to handle all that current and you just found out what happened.
I have a 2013 M135i in the UK. They had my car for 7 months to replace the entire battery cable that runs underneath the car due to a fault that caused the car to have a minor fire in the engine bay. It was fixed under warranty and the invoice I saw was £3700!🤣 So I know how the previous owner was feeling not having his for 12 months!😂
Dude.. you should research emp affects on electrical components. Every single solid state component is faulty… all those components that are always active with a capacitor will be affected. Think nuke blast in your car. Lol
Porshe dealership saying that the car stays with them for 12 months is like saying just forget about it n buy another one. I love Porshes but when they start to break its always a headache coz yoooh!😅 Just rebuilt it coz im interested to see how it goes.

I call BS on the lightning striking a tree near the car and the electrical discharge fried the circuits on board the car! Lightning will take the path of least resistance and the tree is grounded to earth and that is the shortest path to ground! All cars have rubber tires which are insulators and isolate all cars from ground and would pose a higher resistance to lightning than the tree ! ! ! Something happened and the previous owner did not tell you the truth!
