It does have Beatle vibes. Kind of a music box sound. However the "B" side is one of the most psychedelic songs you'll ever hear. "2000 Light Years From Home". Check it out. Their next single "We Love You" actually feature John & Paul on background vocals. Another psychedelic track.
When this came out, the Stones and Beatles were at their most competitive. The Beatles were getting more experimental ( psychedelic) and that pushed the Stones in that direction. 😊
This was the Stones answer to the Beatles Sgt Pepper album. The Stones most psychedelic song is 2,000 Light Years From Home-later Keith Richards would call the album (Their Satanic Majesties Request) rubbish. The album was their only foray into psych with the exception of the single Ruby Tuesday which had elements of psych.
This is from the Stones' Their Satanic Majesties Request...a slightly strange LP. Another Beatles-ish song from the Stones is Dandelion. And I believe that John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin did the orchestration.
Mick Jagger loves doing the unexpected…probably why he’s still jumping around on stage, in his 80’s no less! (Hip replacement and all) I saw him just tonight on TV in attendance at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
I have the original Their Satanic Majesties Request album, I'm not sure about later issues but on mine the front is lenticular (like those watches you used to get as a child that changed the time when you twisted your wrist) and yes the four Beatles faces are in the flowers on the cover.
Flower Power! For more like this, also check out Donovan "Wear Your Love Like Heaven", flower power psychedelic pop par excellence. Posh minuet mix it up string quartet meets that acoustic guitar that won't quit. Charlie Watts lays down a super funky shuffle on "2000 Light Years From Home". Check it out too.
The best I can explain it is to say genre was a thing back in the day, but not as much of a thing as it is today. Genre was a description, nothing more, not a prison at all. Bands toyed with genre, bent it, made unclassifiable songs. Freedom was one of their obsessions.
2000 Light Years From Home is another genius song from the same album. Like this one is soaring and lovely, 2000 Light Years From Home is soaring and mysterious.
Yes! In fact, as I was listening to the end of the tune where the notes/strings go off course Nate popped into my head from that last scene where Roy enters the stadium (after having left the pundit's chair in the studio to re-join the club). So good!
I'm not surprised that this rolling stone song does not give you a beatles like feeling because that thay, just listen to sergeant peppers, lonely heart club Album and they're trying to make A album like it.
For another great psychedelic Beatles' song that was not on an album, try George Harrison's It's All Too Much. It's a very dense song musically and lyrically but very good and representative of the time.
The song’s baroque and psychedelic elements are certainly Beatlesesque. However, those sounds are not exclusive to the Beatles, as many in the comments overly allude sometimes.

And on piano Nicky Hopkins
The Great Nicky Hopkins. He worked with The Beatles too.
Very early Stones… it was the era of the Beatles and Stones duelling for who was the best :) great song ❤

One of their best songs for sure !!

The mid and late sixties was the psychedelic Era.
I hear you Ace I never really thought about it, but that may be the most Beatles-esque Stones song. One of their many hidden gems 👍

They went through a psychedelic period. Then in 1968 they released "Jumpin Jack Flash" and brought everybody else back to rock n roll.

The psychedelic 60s. 🫠
This was the Stones answer to Sargent Peppers
Check out Molly Tuttle's bluegrass version of this song. It's fantastic!!
FUN FACT: The four Beatles pictures are hidden in the picture in the cover of this album.
A music box?
Used in an awesome episode of Ted Lasso.

Now to do 2000 light years from home Reaction on the same album ✌️😁🎸
It has a bit of a baroque sound to it
A carousel.
I think he was thinking of a music box
Music Box
psychedelia, as an era...and yes, very Beatle-ish. (my own word)
Wake up. Her Satanic Majesty’s Request? Aleister Crowley anyone. From where does the Stones’ music derive?
This whole album was called out for its heavy apparent Beatles influence. Still a cool song though.
Not a Beatle style at all, psychedelic rock, futuristic tone, THE Rolling Stones were the opposite of the Beatles
The song’s baroque and psychedelic elements are certainly Beatlesesque. However, those sounds are not exclusive to the Beatles, as many in the comments overly allude sometimes.
When the Stones tried to compete with The Beatles.........and lost
