Just got mine. After not flying RC for a few years I bought this to 're-learn' the process. NOTE: at 5:40 I noticed your left and inboard upper wing vortex strip is installed reversed compared to the outer strip which is correct. Soon as weather is good will be flying again. Thanks for the video.
Not only are the directions wrong with regard to those screws, they are also wrong on the installation of the GPS. The cub manual says there is a “pocket” with a “lid” and there is not. There is a place you can sit the GPS module on top of the receiver, but nothing to secure it in place, so I guess you have to tape it. In order to find the GPS plug in the receiver you have to wrench the receiver out of the plane cause its mounted with double sided tape, not velcro or a strap. Forget trying to reach technical support. They claim on the website to have a phone support but... no number to call anywhere. If you try to chat, you’ll never get through, but you will get told to try again later after waiting for 15 minutes. If you want to email support you cannot because they don’t have an email address. They do have a form but it is limited in characters to very few so there is not enough space to explain what your problem is. There is no manual either at Horizon or Spektrum for either the GPS module or the receiver. I did buy this model, GPS and a transmitter but I’ll never buy from them again. With ZERO customer support, incorrect manuals and no online support, no TH-cam videos this company has no respect for customers. Just the worst post sale support and documentation I’ve every experienced. It’s truly a fraud to accept people’s money and then provide inaccurate documentation, no documentation and no access to support.
I MUST look into this , after 40 yrs away from the C/L planes of teenage yrs , all this technology is so affordable now and electric motors / batts have come so far . Great vid !
It's a great choice. I still have mine, though I smashed it up bad twice, flying too low to the ground in unassisted mode. The gyro is a great beginner help - nearly just as good, in some ways better, than having an instructor on a chord.
I watched a guy set his up at our flying field. The instructions were not very good. No warning instructions. He crashed it due to the GPS not working correctly. He had no control of the plane. The instructions should be better with switch set up. He also couldn't figure out how to activate the on and off for the stabilization and gps. So he was screwed. These things should be easier to set up
Been flying and crashing with this for a few months now. Its really an ideal plane for noobs like me. I love the holding pattern and autonomous landing features. Next step is to mount a camera and VTX and try it with my FPV goggles.
your bot even flying it. im guessing you dont even know how to manually fly a plane aswell? Id hold off from flying fpv until you can fly line of sight first
hellship rc really? He’s been flying it a few months already. He could be flying real planes with a license in less time than that. Let him enjoy himself. There’s no passengers...lol
Bought one over the weekend. Haven't flown it yet. Sure doesn't seem like those tiny little screws will really hold it together with all the aerobatics. Glad to see you doing so much with it. Looks like it should hold up just fine. (but I still wonder in the back of my mind)
Watched 4 other review vids on the RC... yours is the 1st ive seen where the plane gets flown LIKE THAT "Cool"... so thats how good it can fly (u can fly it).. Shit-a-doodle
Hi krishna dev -- great question! In our opinion a Cub isn't NORMALLY a great aircraft for a beginner, however, this particular model has SAFE technology and GPS to assist with stabilizing the aircraft, so a beginner could be successful with this particular Cub! Horizon Hobby talks about this a little bit in their description of the aircraft. "Whether you've never flown RC before or you got your first taste of flying with a multirotor drone, the revolutionary Carbon Cub S+ is the most versatile, capable and easiest to fly RC airplane yet. Based on the Carbon Cub by Cub Crafters, an upgraded and thoroughly modern iteration of the classic Super Cub, and equipped with Horizon Hobby's exclusive and innovative SAFE® Plus GPS-enabled drone technology, this scale reproduction makes it easier to learn to fly in less time than ever before." Horizon Hobby has a video about SAFE technology on their website that can provide some more information about the technology that tames this aircraft just a little for beginners. th-cam.com/video/1JmWZVhnP_8/w-d-xo.html
krishna dev this was my first airplane. LOVE IT!!! I’m flying on advanced mode only now. The only thing I would suggest is don’t get used to applying too much input to the controls while you’re learning in beginner mode. The SAFE technology is great, but it can teach you bad habits. Once you’re used to it, get some altitude and switch to intermediate mode. Fly around up high, getting used to less input. Do the same when you feel ready for advanced mode. Two things: 1) you’ll never “feel” ready 2) this airplane is tough as nails....go for it!!! Have a great time!
I wouldn’t go over 10 mph. It is not heavy at all. And the large wing span reacts like a sail! So I have had this plane for 3 months. Love it! And anything over 8mph. Is not enjoyable . Now you can take it up high and have time to save your self w correction but above 10 isn’t fun. But others may have own opinion
As a multirotor pilot, I like the idea of transitioning to a standard aircraft that has some of the features I'm used to having... to each their own, but I see no reason to diss the manufacturer or customers who are interested in the technology.
@@MikeBarnett1776 People have had problems with it though , like instead of the plane returning on its own to them , it took off and flew to the field they were at the previous day , 5 miles away . This plane is over .55 lbs also , so you need to have your FAA numbers in it .

I am going to do the same not been flying RC for 10 years but want to get back in the saddle and thought this would be a good bird to help me do it.

+ Mark Manwaring - You'll be spoilt for choice now.. Unbelievable whats out there now..🛩
Just got home after buying one of these in the UK. Too windy to fly today, but after not flying a plane for nearly 40 years, there's no rush...
Maidened my cub just now. Love this plane so far. The gps is not an issue and it flies exactly like it does in the simulator.
This seemed like a real review. I appreciate that.
I’m getting mine this weekend. Will be my first plane, can’t wait to fly it
Rob, how did you go? I'm looking at getting the same plane as a beginner.

Awesome flying! I got mine the other day but still have t tried to fly it. Need to look for open area to fly mine this weekend
@so how did it go ?
Loads of pleasure for shure

Stuck a cheap wingcam using velcro on my original Parkzone model when it came out years ago.
Loved it, thinking when I retire I'd really like to get myself one of these Looks like it would bring loads of pleasure. Thanks great video
You're sure you want to WAIT?
I just ordered mine today thanks for the GREAT Unboxing video. It earned you my support for sure.
Been thinking about getting one thanks for the video.
Nice, going to Mississauga Ontario, great Hobbies has a store ,close to us. A few of those beauty's in stock. GPS who whoulda thunk back in the day.
5:41 - Not that I think it matters much, but the vortex generators seems to be placed the wrong way according to manual
Yeah, looks like your right. Should have not gone by the vid
I dont believe it matters much
Love it
Yes, they are. The manual is actually pretty poor - it took me a long time to be certain. Diagrams aren't large enough to see detail either.

You installed the vortex generators backwards
I’ve never put a plane like this together before, do you think it will be too hard for my first time?
Are the Horizon Hobby labels removable without damaging anything? Does autoland deploy flaps once connected?
Hi Guys
I bought the S2 1.3 RTF put together as per instruction the throttle doesn't work any advice
Watched 4 other review vids on the RC... yours is the 1st ive seen where the plane gets flown LIKE THAT "Cool"... so thats how good it can fly (u can fly it).. Shit-a-doodle
2200 3s 30c works like a champ. You could probably do bigger but damn.
Great video, thanks!!....
Thank you for your video! Can the main wing be splitted for transport or would that be just too much of work on a regular routine?
It's only 110 cm from tip to tip. Would not recommend disassembling it for transport, even though it's doable.
Is it the rtf?
I thought, rtf means ready to fly, so unbox it and fly without building it together?
It means it comes with everything... controller, batteries, charger. Assembly may be required on larger planes.
Hmmm...Looks like aSport Cub S2 with a different color scheme. Pretty.
It's same airframe, however bigger tires and updated gear, GPS and SMART receiver with auto-land and other features.
.
I want that! with a small gasser would be ideal! powerful and cheap fuel!
What's your thoughts on a 3 bladed prop for the S+?
And witch 3 bladed prop.??
which
Is a parking lot enough space because i was looking fir parkflyers and this one is help pls
Are floats available for this plane
Yeah you can get them on horizon hobby
Great plane, and awesome video. I like it. Cheers :)
Will this support a flysky transmitter 6ch. ?
is it a beginner
Fly it on a 2200mamp and stay up for a long while!
It appeared to me that you were in advanced mode. Beginners need to use auto stabilization for sure and not fly it fast. Nice plane.
Sir why Carbon cob is CARBONN cub.?
I mean where is the Carbon
I'm having trouble with mine, when ever I get the throttle to 50% power the motor stars pulsing. Any suggestions?
I figured it out, I wasn't setting the home position correctly. Thanks for the advise guys!
Where is the best place to buy one of these?
Easy to find on google , I bought mine locally though , support your local stores !
Whats the battery time on this?
5 to 7 minutes i think
I would really like to see a split screen with the plane in flight and your fingers on the transmitter controls...Jus' askin' !✌😀
Didn’t even try to cover the training features besides it can auto land ...
'
how come america company dont make it own R/C planes
IKR !

They do, but most are kits and require skill to assemble. Not cheap foamies
Just a copy of the parkzone sport cub s2
In a yellow paint job....I've got the parkzone model.
Hey bro! do you suggest this plane for a beginner.
Thanks for watching! You can read the full review here: modelaviation.com/hobbyzone-carbon-cub

Buy a simulator for your computer and use transmitter plugged into it.
Why do you handle it so extremely roughtly?
I'm sure he has way, way nicer planes why would he care about a free foam plane someone gave him to do a review
Thought this was RTF (ready to fly)
Jason Sammis RTF just means it comes with everything it needs to fly... not that it comes assembled
Why do they call it the "carbon" cub? The plane is foam not carbon.
Model very nice bay
How much?
hirise12. $260
How much MPH wind can this plane handle? Whats the max wind for this plane? Thank you

its the same as the sport cub s2.
Anybody else cringe a bit when he grabbed to horizontal stab and torqued the elevator with his hand so far you could hear it crackle?
I'd rather just have flaps standard and forget the GPS , if you need all the automated crap you shouldn't be flying a plane this size yet .

the Alpha 40 flies much better than this plane...

weird way to come out, but ok

Hello! how long does the battery last please?
