We’ve got like 6 or so of these gassers at our work and they all have at least 300,000 km and they’ve been towing 6-9 thousand pounds daily very good solid trucks
My 06 2500 HD 8.1 hauls a 15,000 lbs boat weekly up the steepest mountain in the US to Flaming Gorge like a dream! I have buddies that actually ask me to haul their trailers up that monster regularly because their diesels heat up, also,, the down hill huge brakes are the best in the world,,
@Poulton Real We have the juke, idk what the other one is. But yes they are relatively popular because people who know nothing about cars buy them because they are a little bit cheaper than the competition
@Poulton Real The Nissan Jukes are nowhere near as popular as anything else in the segment. I see lots of Hyundai Konas and Mazda CX-3s/CX-30s, they'll probably last like 5 times longer than the ugly Nissan Juke, I dont know about Hyundais, but Mazdas will definitely last a long time. The only thing they used to have going for them is that they were cheap, sometimes by up to $5k compared to others. But nowadays the price difference is so slim, there's no reason to pick the Juke over anything else in the segment at this point. I have no idea what a Qashqai or whatever is though.

I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 work truck Long bed, color white, completely basic, crank roll up windows, vinyl flooring, Cost a couple dollars for a basic key, that's right no fob or key chip, just a good old fashioned metal key. The ignition is so worn out the key just comes out of the ignition even when it's on. Nowadays you couldn't do that with more modern trucks. 4.8 liter engine with almost 194,000 miles, bought it 3 years ago, used to be a motorcycle hauler at a dealership, then had 168,000 miles paid almost $2400, since then it's been a great truck. By next year it will be considered a Classic at 20 years. Good old Chevrolet !
I totally agree! I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 with 4.8 V8. Very well made and basic. The more basic/simple the better. Man, that's the most reliable truck I've ever owned! I feel like the newer trucks today have way too many unnecessary gimmicks.
It's only 6 years old with just 113k. Wake me up when it reaches the 340k I have on my 02 5.3lt with 4 speed auto. Update: 10/21/24 truck has 382k and still doing just fine.

Just got myself a 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500 with 8.1L and a Allison trany, it's a Dually 4x4 with 383k miles and the condition looks like a 100k mile vehicle 👍 It Runs like a Champ 💪 I'll probably spend about $1000 fixing what looks to be minor issues.
Oh yeah on the Miata intro! Scotty is constantly changing the game with his progress on his public service announcements on a daily basis, sometimes hourly basis (image of donkey laughing). He never takes a day off!
Thank you Scotty! My wife has a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with 22 K miles. I have been panicking since I started watching you. This video was a relief 😅
Just bought an 02 Avalanche Z71 with 157k miles and it shifts amazing. I’ve never had a Chevy before but I heard from another Scotty vid that the 4L60 engine is great and I have to move with it soon, so, glad I bought it.
4l60 is the transmission and probably the worst transmission ever made lol. ive had to replace a few of em. they get to about 100k before dying. maybe sooner. 4l80 is better and the one in this video is great.
That’s all I buy for the town Hwy Dept I work at. Being the mechanic I have to work on them, these trucks are rock solid workhorses. The 6.0 engines run forever ,as do the 6L90E transmissions. Our trucks average 12-15000 running hours and 100-150k miles and never leave town, in 14-18 years of service we get out of them.
Depends what your going to do with it. Id rather have a 1500 if your just going drive it an haul small stuff. Alot better ride. Cheaper parts. Just because its a HD doesn't mean its all roses. There's cons. Gas variants make horrible mileage an are doggy pulling loads. Just don't get a HD truck if you have it in your head that its tough as nails an the ultimate truck. Pros an cons with everything.
I’ve got a 97 GMC Sierra 2500 with 667,000 miles. Still hauls heavy loads of nursery trees from Portland to Seattle every week. I’ve owned 3 fords and every single one of them have failed me dearly. Especially electrical and brake system. This GMC has only had an issue with the distributor and headlights. Easy simple fixes. If you want a truck that will WORK for the “long haul”, get a GMC. My own two cents.
Scotty gets it right here. I’ve owned nothing but ford trucks. 4 years ago I bought a 2017 Chevy 2500 pickup. 6.0 v8 gas. Now coming up on 200,000 miles. Burns no oil. Never popped the hood for anything but oil and air filter changes. I appreciate how the truck looks like a modern square body Chevy as well. I will be buying another GM 2500 series truck next.
Glad to hear SK giving a good score on the 2500HD. Purchased brand new one in 2002 and drove it 16 years and 265k miles, original engine and tranny. Friends would give me a hard time saying my purchase was overkill. Kept on explaining exactly what Scotty said, extra beefy parts all over and a proven pushrod 6.0 V8. Anyways the old gal was sold in 2018 and purchased another new one. Same engine and a 6 speed now versus a 5. Expecting another 16 years of relative problem free years..
So far my 2019 GMC Canyon Denali is serving me well as a landlord. I only haul plywood from Lowes and Home Depot. I used the 4wd once, when I drove the front wheels off a 5 inch drop at the edge of a newly paved parking lot.
Customer: Hey scotty I'm here to pick up my new miata, Scotty: Just a minute Could you please hold this camera , I'm just testing out the wheels to make sure that they won't fall out.. Meanwhile.... (1,2,3,4!!)Scotty: REV UP YOUR ENGINES!!!!! Customer:😳😳
I used to have a 1994 GMC 2500 with the 454. It was my favorite truck, the engine never broke down the transmission was great it had 370000 miles and still drove amazing. I should have never sold it.
Just bought myself an 11 denali. First thing i did was an edge programmer and a volant cold air intake. They really wake it up. Better milage with a light foot too. Way more power than my previous 1500 5.3l.
Scotty, I've owned 2 G.M trucks within 11 years. Both trucks were money pits the last couple of years owning. Yet my corolla just with regular oil changes has outlasted both of these trucks together.
A 2500, series should be a lifetime truck with proper maintenance and care. Half tonnes used to hold up almost as long. Today they are luxury cars with beds.
I have a 2012 Silverado LT 1500, 2WD, 6L80 trans., LMG engine (5.3L), 80K on the clock and nothing wrong with it. I've towed my wifes Murano on a car dolly, hauled 2500 lbs pallet of sod, a few times a yard of topsoil. And AFM never has given any problems. It works perfectly.
I purchased a 15 Chevy 2500 LTZ 4x4 with a 6.0 for 26K. It was a one owner. The truck had 147k on it at the time. It now almost 160K. It looks and drives like a brand new truck. The steering is tight. It burns no oil and everything works. So far it’s been a very good vehicle.
I got an 08 GMC 2500HD gasser. Has 165,000 miles engines only had typical maintenance and tires and brakes, everything else is factory and still runs smooth and comfy as new
Bought a 84 f250 4x4 diesel truck last week and drove it home 300 miles. Anything over a half ton is going to be built better as time will prove . I'd rather have something that's paid for than something I may end up needing to choose if I eat or if I drive.
funny I got a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500, and I just turned 801003km original engine, transmission, transfer case and differential. No problems just regular maintenance.
The 6.0 is a great motor. So are older duramaxs (lly, and lbz) if you need something that will tow heavy trailers easier. Also better fuel economy with the diesel.
My fathers got a lly 6 speed 05 and it’s been a great truck just replaced the fuel lines and he recently bought a 2016 z71 2500 HD 6.0 with 32k heard nothing but good things about the 6.0 vortec
Got an 2009 Sierra 2500hd 6.0L with 360,000km on it with Minimal repairs over that time. Just bought a 2019 gmc Sierra 2500hd 6.0L with 188,000km and I don’t even have a worry about it. Still keeping the 2009 as well. Solid trucks for sure
I got a 2009 silverado 2500hd 6.0 and absolutely love the truck. Gas mileage is its worse culprit avg 12.5 mpg but dont mind it because the truck is solid overall. Im a 2500hd and 3500 guy.
2006 silverado LBZ duramax with Allison transmission.406k miles. No mechanical issues, no engine light. Regular maintenance. Ill never sell the lbz duramax.
Only two times when the 4x4 in my 1984 F250 was put to work. When I buried the axles in deep mud and sludge in a heavily watered orchard and when a tree was being stubborn. Keep in mind the tires were shot. Yes, it's pretty damn reassuring that you got four wheel drive.
I have a 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71. Has 150000 miles on it. Runs like a top. Just changed drivers hub assembly. Only thing I've done to it. Has been a good truck so far. Hope it last as.long as my 96 GMC Sierra it has 285000 miles on it. Still runs great. Still has factory engine and trans.
I love my 2012 2500. It’s just a big dumb L96 V8. It does all the things. Not fast, but not slow and always reliable. Did just put in a new billet Torque converter/trans rebuild... But the ol girl deserves some love after 224000 miles. Hope to be driving this truck till I can afford the right diesel rig.
6l90 is a great transmission we have them in our lsa powered vf clubsport and gts. People are running 9second 1/4 miles with unopened stock transmission.
I have a 2013 version I bought from a young guy, has low mileage but he took the stock exhaust off and installed a flowmaster. Kind of loud. But it's a great truck.
I agree about 4×4. I have a belief. If you EVER take your truck on the dirt, you need 4 wheel drive. I don't mind paying the extra money to know it's there.
Scotty i just went from a 08 silverado 1500 v6 2wd had 114k miles to a 13 silverado 1500 5.3 4wd with the 6l80e and it runs and drives fine for 129k miles. Only had to replace fluids and replace a o2 sensor. Love the power but i also had the dod tuned out along with changed how the torque converter locks after that this 13 is alot better truck other than were i bought it, has more rust underneath than my 08.....

I only had one that I sold because it had a problem running to warm in the hot summer

Hah back when I was a kid I thought the HD meant high definition
I was like sierra 1080p
I have friends who told me that HD on pickup trucks stands for hot dudes,
Darrencarfan78 hahah mostly fat guys drive the hd trucks

@@112188Francisco Im gonna guess that the 3500 is the 4k model
Just got myself a 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500 with 8.1L and a Allison trany, it's a Dually 4x4 with 383k miles and the condition looks like a 100k mile vehicle 👍 It Runs like a Champ 💪 I'll probably spend about $1000 fixing what looks to be minor issues.
Oh yeah on the Miata intro! Scotty is constantly changing the game with his progress on his public service announcements on a daily basis, sometimes hourly basis (image of donkey laughing). He never takes a day off!
Just proves he's a fluid thinker
sploofmonkey so true, well I suppose we would all do what Scottie is doing monopolizing YT
The laughing horses kill me every time lol

We got 3 of them, dumber than dirt. I never see any laughing just trying to bite each other. All they do well is eat and 💩. Lots and lots of💩
Check engine lights come standard on GMs. Trust me I’ve had 5 😂
I bypassed that auto start stop just so I can have a check engine on my malibu.
Me who owns a dealership:
Thats cute
Jason V yeh I got a 02 sensor out that’s it 130k miles on 2005 avalanche
You must go out of your way to get the ones with the check engine lights lit up.
I've never had an engine light in any of mine. Proper maintenance does the trick.
Thank you Scotty! My wife has a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with 22 K miles. I have been panicking since I started watching you. This video was a relief 😅
Mmm, does she really need you......
I have a 2006 Chevy duramax and it’s been nothing but reliable!! 300k miles and it’s awesome
"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH" - Colonel Jessup
Colonel Jessup did you order the code red? Lieutenant Caffey😆
"Colonel Jessup, did you order those crappy parts?"
That's a homophobic statement
2005 GMC 1500 Z71 310,567 still runs and drives perfect only normal maintenance and 1 water pump its been the best truck I've ever owned
Never thought I’d see Scotty talk about about GM in a positive light, wow
Personally, I'd prefer the Duramax diesel to the 6.2l Vortec. I took the 6.6l and put it in my 08 Hummer H2 and I LOVE IT!
Thank god. Scotty has been hating Chevys making me question my purchase. Final he makes a video about my exact truck and he likes it. Hell ya.
If I was to buy a new truck it would be a heavy duty from any of the big 3. It is the same physical size on the outside but you get the stronger parts
Ford and gm heavy duty
Depends what your going to do with it. Id rather have a 1500 if your just going drive it an haul small stuff. Alot better ride. Cheaper parts. Just because its a HD doesn't mean its all roses. There's cons. Gas variants make horrible mileage an are doggy pulling loads. Just don't get a HD truck if you have it in your head that its tough as nails an the ultimate truck. Pros an cons with everything.
I have a 99 1500 I just gave it to my oldest very recently it had been a great truck and still is.
What about ram?
Customer: Hey scotty I'm here to pick up my new miata,
Scotty: Just a minute Could you please hold this camera , I'm just testing out the wheels to make sure that they won't fall out..

2011 gmc 2500hd duramax 240,000 miles still runs like a champ. Gets about 18+ mpg going 70 threw town looking at about 16 mpg
I used to have a 1994 GMC 2500 with the 454. It was my favorite truck, the engine never broke down the transmission was great it had 370000 miles and still drove amazing. I should have never sold it.
Why you sold it?
@@Kauffman578 He probably didn't like the 7 to 11 MPG like my 93 Ford 460 gets.
Yet my corolla just with regular oil changes has outlasted both of these trucks together.
can you tow up to 13,000 pounds with it?
A 2500, series should be a lifetime truck with proper maintenance and care. Half tonnes used to hold up almost as long. Today they are luxury cars with beds.
"Stay away from mirrors" I about died lol
I have a 13 Sierra 1500 love it! Not one problem with it.
Mazda intro is lit scotty🔥its quit a sweet coincident that all the three intros(mustang, supra, miata) are all red sports car😊
Or blue, with white stripes of course lol
U still have it?
@@ourfatherswar3464 Do
@@jimmiekaelin4804 how many miles and any problems get? I seen one 2015 for 130k for $32k

I got an 08 GMC 2500HD gasser. Has 165,000 miles engines only had typical maintenance and tires and brakes, everything else is factory and still runs smooth and comfy as new
Only issue with the 6.0L is the exhaust manifolds crack and bolts snap. But it's a relatively easy fix if you're mechanically inclined
Happens just as much on the 5.3’s.
Beat truck I’ve ever owned was a 2013 gmc sierra 2500 duramax. Man I miss that truck
I like my 4wd 4l60 e in my Tahoe and my 5.3L v8 vortec Inder the hood as long as you take care of them the pre 2005 stuff lasts a while
Bought a 84 f250 4x4 diesel truck last week and drove it home 300 miles. Anything over a half ton is going to be built better as time will prove . I'd rather have something that's paid for than something I may end up needing to choose if I eat or if I drive.
Yay the Mazda is the intro!!
funny I got a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500, and I just turned 801003km original engine, transmission, transfer case and differential.
I own a 3500 HD 2011 diesel , I will keep it a very ver long time . Thank you Scotty 👍
I have this exact same truck (with extended cab, instead of Crew Cab). And I love it!!
I get 11-13MPG unloaded no matter what.
Can't go wrong with the good ol' Vortec 6.0. It's probably GM's best truck engine since they stopped using the old SBC motors.
AFM tho
@@KingfishStevens-di9ji6.0 Vortecs in the HD trucks dont have AFM. The 6.0 VortecMAX has AFM. Do your research.
@@Ace-44 Do yours
I got a 2009 silverado 2500hd 6.0 and absolutely love the truck. Gas mileage is its worse culprit avg 12.5 mpg but dont mind it because the truck is solid overall. Im a 2500hd and 3500 guy.
Scotty, thank you for all the videos you continue to make.. appreciate the info yours passing on. Been watching you for years!
2006 silverado LBZ duramax with Allison transmission.406k miles. No mechanical issues, no engine light. Regular maintenance. Ill never sell the lbz duramax.
Love the new intro 👌🏻
Only two times when the 4x4 in my 1984 F250 was put to work. When I buried the axles in deep mud and sludge in a heavily watered orchard and when a tree was being stubborn. Keep in mind the tires were shot. Yes, it's pretty damn reassuring that you got four wheel drive.
2500s are a stiff af ride but I've seen my dad go thru 2 of them In my lifetime, the last one he bought was a 2011 going strong.
Oh thank you Scotty!!! I can quit feeling guilty about buying my 07 2500HD. Has 307,000 trouble free miles.
The old avalanche 2500s are great. Even as a ford guy it’s easy to see the old gm trucks were just built different
I have a 1500 avalanche and love it but I've had my eye out on a low mileage, taken care of 2500
I have a 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71. Has 150000 miles on it. Runs like a top. Just changed drivers hub assembly. Only thing I've done to it. Has been a good truck so far. Hope it last as.long as my 96 GMC Sierra it has 285000 miles on it. Still runs great. Still has factory engine and trans.
Uploaded right as I'm playing American truck simulator! Love ya scotty
That’s not even enough miles for it to actually start falling apart. Things will start breaking soon if they haven’t already
The Chevy 2500 Express van with 6.0 L engine and 4L80E transmission is the same. Well built, durable.
Finally no more BMW for the intro
My 1998 Sierra 1500 was one of the best and longest lasting vehicle I've owned.
All this technology still doesn't make these trucks stronger than they use to be💯
My 2006 1500 is still perfect . I would not trade it for a 2020.
A Chevy with a check engine light on? What’s new
it's when the light isn't on that you have to start getting concerned.
@@ElectronicsForFun what's funny is even Scotty isn't concerned or surprised hahah
That it's not on a Ram for once
My buddy has an 08 duramax abused it and still daily drives it with 387,000 miles still drives great
Scotty you ever work on motorcycles? I don’t remember ever seeing you make a video on motorcycle recently. Curious. Keep up the good work!
I do, motorcycles just aren't as popular that's why I don't do it anymore
Scotty Kilmer Understood, you da best ! Much love from NYC!
Scotty Kilmer do you feel the same way about new GM heavy duty’s? And what about Ram?
Scotty I've got a 2008 Sierra 1500 4x4 with 452 000km (280,000 miles) and its runs great still and drives smooth.
Hi Scotty! Thanks for explaining that mechanics have an overhead cost to cover. Makes sense.
6l90 is a great transmission we have them in our lsa powered vf clubsport and gts. People are running 9second 1/4 miles with unopened stock transmission.

My 2008 2500 just rolled over to 350k miles. I love it
New intro!! Nice!
thanks!
I'm going on 300K on my Chev 6.0 Gasser, 01' 2500 HD used strictly for plowing and hard work.
Scotty. Keep killing it!
will do!
Love Scottys response to his hair line😂😂💇♂️
