I was spotting from Hen & Chicken crossing Perthville. Really was something to watch it go past at speed - you don't just see and hear, you *feel* these wonderful beasts.
Fun Fact the bridge seen at 2:19 in one of a pair on this line made out of old bridge rail. Lovely clipped exhaust that only the 38's can do. I'm a heretic for I prefer 3801 in black but that's just me. 10:36 station location is Newbridge. The XPT is the only passenger train on the western line west of Bathurst and is forbidden to stop there, likewise with Georges Plains 14:00. The Bathurst Bullet can't stop at Raglan Station for it's shut. So if you want to catch the Bathurst Bullet to Sydney and you live in Raglan you have to go west to Bathurst and then travel back past your home station. On the return journey you have to go to Bathurst through you closed home station and then drive back east to your home in Raglan.
@@oldmate3152Well 6'8" driving wheels aren't suited to our grades. UK mainlines are akin to a billiard table compared to our mainlines. When English people saw our gradient profiles they said "that not a gradient, that's a sky jump"
@@EngineerDaylightThe New Haven's I5 streamlining was adapted to suit the first five 38's. A pity really that we couldn't even devise streamlining all of our own. The Americans also built the frames for the 38's. 57's, 58's and 60's at Granite City Illinois. The frames are heavy duty one piece frames.
Thank you for going to the trouble of chasing, videoing and uploading.
I can cry my heart out for having left this beautiful country
3801 looks great in the green awesome video
Beautiful Bevan. Not just the 3801 but the scenery as well. Breathtaking.

That huge cloud of steam seems like such a waste of coal and water. ????????
As a kid growing up in Wallerawang, I loved to watch the steam train going past the school, an through the town.
Spectacular train sights and sounds!
Did it make it to Blayney..?
Splendide !!!!
Wow great work. You know where to find the best locations - can I ask what you are shooting on now?

Thank you for the viedeo. Steam train in Australia. The Sound is great. Beautyful nature. 👀👀👍👀🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
Love greetings from Graz Austria 🇱🇻.
I absolutely love and adore your videos THANKYOU
I live in Lithgow and a legend like that is amazing
So authentic. With a diesel locomotive behind it. Ridiculous
There's a good reason for it.
This is awesome.
Fun fact: In 1988, this loco double headed with the one, the only, 4472 Flying Scotsman while it was on visit to Australia.
yeah because the scotsman needed its hand held while on the tracks here

Nice video!
Do we have a new haven locomotive?
No sir, but it's the closest thing to a New Haven I5

The 3801 was the first steam locomotive to cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
No, 5910 has been across the coat hanger with an 85 class electric loco and Bevan videoed that too.
Why is it hauling another diesel locomotive on the end? Edit: watched a bit more it looks to be helping out by the looks
Can't turn the 3801 around at Blayney so the diesel does the return job (and probably helps a bit when needed)
@@BearsTrains it is also there so if 3801 suffered some sort of fault she wouldn't be stranded blocking the line.
