I Usually dont subscribe channels. but your video is so informative that in first 10 sec video i deliberately pause and subscribe your channel. good job man. and thank you for serving such cool content . waiting for more.
this is so great! I love seeing a designer's individual process when often we're told to go through the same steps ! it's really cool the way you pick up the trends and integrate them into products !
Great video - so great you put in the time to make models using the trends. Not sure if its the youtube compression but I would recommend the 'denoise' function on keyshot for some of those renders.
Hey, great video. What are you using to create the 3D models and what’s the rendering package you are using on iPad? Could you do a video on how you actually create these?
"I am using the Miro iOS app for the mood boards and Keyshot on Mac OS to show off my product designs (displayed on iPad using Sidecar). I modeled the design in a mixture of Rhinoceros and Fusion 360 on Mac OS."
@@nickbeaumont2601 oh nice, i'll have to check out Miro, I use Keyshot and Rhino on Mac every day, used to use Fusion (got started in tinkercad, then sketchup, then fusion, then rhino! lol)
Love it, more please! :D Could you make a video about things that are more industrial? For example, a CNC router, shredder or other products where the function is on first place and you can still see trends?
Great content, love your videos. The quality of the renders and moodboards are top notch. I would love to see your workflow in this channel. From collecting ideas, creating sketches, 3D modelling and rendering. Also would you mind sharing the tools you use, the iPad apps for rendering and all. Thanks and keep creating more amazing content.
@@gregoryallenn Thanks and yeah tried it. The free version was enough to get to know how powerful the tool is. I work on a parametric 3D modelling tool called Solidworks. Too bad the free version can only have 2 files at a time.
Great video. Thanks for posting. These designs are pretty objects. If anything this is a satire of industrial design. This kind of stuff was posted on Lemanoosh in 2014 so confused as to how this is a design trend in 2021. These design trends do help to communicate the function of the product, but is also is the opposite of good design. Style over function.
@@somegraythings Ok so re-reading my comment I obviously came across far more salty and mean spirited than intended (sorry). That being said, I see where you are coming from but part of me feels like "style to achieve function" is the thinking that now that I have a hammer and everything else is a nail. The forms you created and colors you selected are all pleasing. Also, sustainability is KING! so that's great too. Where I am coming from is that the function should dictate the form, which dictates the style. The style of it is defined by the environment it is in. Maybe you already went through this thought process? I don't know. Maybe my question is: just because I can apply these design trends to an object does it mean I should? As for trends: Some of these trends are still current (although Pill shape is tired) but I see a more organic approach happening, patina textures, natural materials becoming more prevalent (spin-off sustainable) combined with some retro-90's-80's design elements. Not saying that's all my favorite things but I think that is what is going to happen LOL. Anywhoo, keep posting videos, somebody has to!
Cool! Thanks for the detailed response. I didn‘t see it as salty! But yes, it can quickly become style over function, which gets annoying real fast. Maybe i could make a video on process in the future, who knows. Still kind of figuring out what to focus on :D
New subscriber! Please make more videos. I am very interested in industrial design and I am motivated to being a solid viewer of your content. Absolutely loved this video. I wanted to start up a portfolio soon and I feel that this video gave me enough information to know exactly where I can start. :)
Man love your content, I like how you explain the trend and why. but can you give us a "blueprint" on how to analyze trends? I really don't know how you do it. Thank you man. I want to learn
Hmm good question, will keep it in mind for a future video. But generally it‘s (1) search/assemble designs from the last year, (2) look over everything until i can identify a trend (3) repeat 2 infinity times
Really great content! It would be interesting to see the air purifier with an alternate color scheme where the outer element has the recycled look and the inner element kept white to visually represent air coming in to be recycled and becoming clean inside the purifier.
Please explain to me in detail how do you use that thermometer, how do you read temp after measurement ? Is a goal of your design to make it harder to use your product ? Imagine your computer monitor balanced so the screen always points to the ceiling and when you want to look at it you need to hold it pointed to you with one hand and when you let go it goes back and points the screen up, that is what you designed or how do I see it, sorry.
I can see you are a man of detail! The idea was that it forces you to hold it further away from your face, hopefully lowering the risk of infection. If the screen was in the standard place, you would naturally bring the monitor closer to your face to read it. I filmed a whole section where I was explaining it, but I took it out due to time constraints. But I never tested it so maybe it wouldn't work, who knows!
Great question. I spent a long time going through everything I could find on the internet from within the last year. Product releases, instagram, Behance, design awards, all the stuff. Then it‘s just recognizing the patterns :)
Ah yeah, it was something that I was also having trouble explaining. It's a surface of a lighter color embossed on a surface of a darker color. The contrast of the surfaces makes it look like it is floating. Does that help or still doesn't make sense?
I absolutely love how you use quick product concepts to explain a principle you're talking about. Really wish this was done more often.
Thanks!
He kind of blows away most teachers that way... love it.
Perfect example for "If you feel like he''s doing this very easy, he is professional."
Love what the dynamic chamfers did to the air purifier! This is really great content. :)
Thank you stranger that I have definitely never met before!
Please post more videos, they’re so helpful and it’s so rare to find industrial designers with good quality advice on youtube
There are starting to be more channels I think, keep a lookout 👀
Definitely departing from sharp speed forms to soft mellow forms and I dig it

You know I am from Ukraine and I look at your work and I think it is a good work. Bravo!
thank for your introduce, that help me improve my enthusiasm (from industrial design student)
I really liked how you explained all these trends, very simple and understandable. Thank you! Subscribed:)
glad you liked :)
Wahey! My dissertation two years ago including the aesthetics of recycled plastics was ahead of the curve!
