- Grian and GoodTimesWithScar managed to land one of the best Minecraft Roleplaying tragedies I've seen via the 3rd life series so I spent the past week absolutely unhinged, deranged; 12hr/day planning, boarding, animating and editing this for your viewing pleasure.

I was wondering why Scar is drawn differently but then I remembered that his skin was literally a jacked muscular man.
A lot of people draw him with an 8 pack. But in 3rd life, he is a 6 pack.

I love how every animation with grian in it he's either somesoet of otherworldly being or the blandest man you've ever seen. And you know, wings.

That transition at the beginning with the water was so fantastic! I love the way you draw Grian as well!
The entire animatic felt so calming for some reason, but it also portrayed so many deep emotions. And the ghosts at the end smiling and laughing, and then Scar dying and Grian, just that ending. It hurt. Fantastic job on this!

GOD!!!! This is so good!!! I loved the animation and transitions, scars death felt so brutal and horrible and I loved Grian laying over his body. The animation of his arm going limp was amazing and I adored the part of Grian jumping and the feather (petal?) falling after him. I had hope he survived for a bit then the end screen absolutely killed me. Love it so much!!!

@@Wanderer0981 well, it's partially because of his "pesky bird" bit in HC season 7 and his love of flying in minecraft. Also wings are very fun to draw!

With all the Last Life and 3rd Life animatics and amvs that I've seen, I've always been reminded of the old Mianite animations, or the Dream SMP animations, but this one in particular reminds me of a piece of fanart from CaptainSparklez' Trinity Island series. I'm not gonna link it, but I'll tell ya that it's "Alone - Trinity Island" by Dragoeswild on DeviantArt, and it shows Tucker's, Sonja's, and Tom's graves, with the three monsters that killed them: a Creeper, a Guardian, and CaptainSparklez. Back when I was like 12 or 16 or whatever that was the deepest, rawest thing on the internet. This has surpassed that beautifully!

this is like the 7th time ive watched this today and your transitions are Absolutely incredible. I love how you structured the narrative as well. And that last shot, of grian seemingly flying away and that hard cut to a close up of his bloodied corpse reaching out to the poppy that scar gave him? OUGH. Brilliant work!

There is just so many parts to this animatic that I absolutely love and I bet if I were to go through and pick out every individual bit that I loved, I would just end up showing the entire video, because it’s all just so amazing! (I will note though that one of my favorite details that I’m unsure is intentional or not but is cool either way, the ghosts watching Scar and Grian fight are all ghosts that were a part of red life/green life pairings. Red life Ren to green life Martyn, red life Jimmy to green life Scott, and Cleo also made a red and green pair with Bdubs. The ghosts relationship with their red or green partner echoes that of Scar and Grian’s even if the dynamics for each pairing was different. It’s just something that I found poignant since Grian and Scar we’re the last green/red pair from season 1 that lasted until the end! :D) Can’t wait to rewatch this again and again!

this brought back memories. i remember watching them fight each other in minecraft. i was watching grians perspective. i remember watching the 3rd life SMP.
One thing I find interesting, not just with this but with quite a few other animatics as well, is the type of music used.
Slow, serious, melancholic... It's curious and fascinating.
Having it so that Grian jumps off the cliff presumably due to guilt over beating Scar to death after all they’d been through makes it hurt even more so good job.

The amount of times I've watched this? Had to finally post a comment. 1. Thank you for the introduction to an amazing song, have listened to it far too many times at this point aha. 2. Love the character designs, very nice. 3. The transitions? Have definitely caught myself slowing down the vid to see how you've done them, esp the boat grian to llama grian. 4. The complete serenety scar has almost the whole way through this, hits me right in the heart. 5. I love how you did the storyline- we get a bit after the start, grian waking up on his red life, then the beginning and the timeline from then, scar giving the flower THEN the end part before the fight. That transition as well *chef's kiss * 6. Grian turning to scar who's busy burning his stuff. That part. Love the scar shot there. 7. the inclusing of tHE GHOSTS. THAT PART. that part. The way they're smiling. They want a fight. Love the concept of them all surrounding the cacti, watching. 8. The grian drop really hit hard. Idk. It really was a tragic ending when you think abt and your shot there, even including the earlier part with him and dead scar really showcased that fact. 9. the way we see grian fly away, maybe peeping the three set of wings the first time or not, then the end end seeing that no. Splat. That part hurt. 10. the use of color, of red in this. 11. Grian stewing in the boat as scar rows him along. 12. I could go on, I should stop. Yes I'm procrastinating my final paper right now but i've wanted to make this comment for a bit anyways haha. Once again, amazing animatic. Lives in my head rent free. Back to finals ig.

I absolutely adore this little sharp-toothed gremlin Grian. Little winged goblin man. Little bird demon. Impeccable design. Also love the fact that this featured the flowers Scar came back with after turning red. So few of these animatics feature those flowers for some reason.
Damn... I thought that opening was referencing how Grian slaughtered the Box Bois initially, but flashing back to their victory in 3rd Life is a brilliant twist... 😹

I absolutely adore how the storyline moves back and forth and non-linearly, it makes me appreciate the small moments in between the bigger plot points that happened in 3rd life. Thank you for sharing this absolutely heartwrenching work with us :')
Last life was great, but 3rd life just hits you right in the feels.
Soon we'll see if double life will step up its game and dig a blade into our hearts (because I already feel like I got emotionally punched & the series isn't even over yet!)

This hits hard. And I mean that in the best way possible. The way their friendship is displayed is beautiful... And Grian second guessing his choice of servitude is done wonderfully. A lot of animatics are hard to understand without watching where they come from(As they should) but I love how blatant and clear it is. Also gremlin grian is the cutest thing ever!

This animatic shows how much Grian truly cares for Scar, but the part where Grian was mad at Scar for betraying BDubs was heart breaking. I loved how much emotion was shown in this, even if it wasn't fully coloured. But hey, it's a lot of drawing and some animating. Doesn't need colour if it's good

I found this a while ago, but I've always been on my Switch so I could never comment but THIS IS SUCH A MASTERPIECE I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Like I watch it almost every day and I fall in love with it all over again every time. Just the simplicity of the designs, how the red is so jarring compared to the gray background, the pure emotion shown in the characters?? I love this animatic so much, even if I always cry watching it. Desert Duo have a special place in my heart, and in the center of that special place is this animatic /gen

this is SO DAMN WELL DONE!!! i was looking at my screen in absolute awe for the entirety of these 4 minutes. I'm an artist, and even though the art seems quite simple, there are complicated angles and 3 dimensional vision and so much work! this is definitely going in my inspiration folder, what an amazing animatic! without mentioning how emotional the whole thing is, and how i adore your little gremlin Grian design- its a masterpiece
I'm in LOVE with this animatic oh my god. I love how you draw both of them, Scar's muscular and yet so soft looking, and Grian's jagged edges and simple face are just perfect. The end with him jumping off the cliff was so haunting and beautifully animated, truly wonderful animatic
Ive watched quite a few Life SMP animatics and im pretty sure this has to be my favorite (or at least top 3). Every single time i encounter it, I HAVE to watch it fully. I just love it so much. And ough particularly when Grian is all geared up. Dunno why I love that look.

The way the character hold themself, the facial expressions (even grians with just his eyes on a square head lol), the transistions it came together beautifully! And the music!
