I with my frnd G Dasarathan both working at Inidan Airlines at Santacruz airport when he was going to USA with Idhayam Editor Mr Maian have met late Hon Chief Minister MGR at Chennai airport VIPl longue thru Anandabigadan Bombay representative who introduced us to CM. He welcomed us personally and shook hands with us and he was a perfect gentle man. He talked to us so nicely first by offering us whether u wl have coffee tea or soft drinks. Asked to take some thing. He was such humble Chief Minster. And asked us u r both tamilians
If u have any problem if u are facing pls tell me I can be of any help to you. He was so courteous to us even though we r just ordinary employees of IA. He was such a wonderful humanbeing. That's the reason he was liked by all tamilians around tge world. May his soul RIP

It is true MGR has helped many.His Government made congenial atmosphere for all-but industrial progress was not upto mark.By increasing Reservation quota to 50 percent to Backward class MGR crushed the opportunities of unreserved category, poor among them suffered a lot.The worst is his decision to allow matriculation school in large numbers and also allowing self financing Engineering and Polytechnic colleges,arts and science colleges paved the way to commercialisation of Education.Everybody knows the pitable conditions of the self financing colleges,at present. The biggest mistake done by Prabhakaran is that he unwittlingly took sides in Tamilnadu politics. He could not have expected that India would help him liberating Eelam from Srilanka as no comparison can be made with Bangladesh for geo political reasons. M G R helped the cause of Eelam when Indira Gandhi supported Tigers and he would not have ventured to do so when Tigers did not accept India's stand on Empowered tamil province within the framework of unified Srilanka. Prabhakaran failed to anticipate changed political climate and wrong calculations led to his debacle. Absence of person of stature Anton Balasingam to advice him in crucial days had also quickened the pace of his debacle.

Had Srilankan Tamils agreed to merge Tamil Eelam with indian union as a state. India would have made Eelam long back.
Subsequently, remnant Lanka would have merged with India as another state without any option.
Srilankan Tamils never wanted merger with India so as Singhalese as per capita income of Srilanka was 5 times higher than India in 1980s
This design was noticed by Jeyawardane and Srilankan army helped LTTE by giving arms to fight IPKF in late 1980s. Rest is history.
India helped Bangladesh because Pakistan was troubling India from east and India did not annex Bangladesh because it was poor & Muslim state.
Srilankan Tamils should understand onething very clear. Nobody will help other without any benefit.
If you want to join India, you will be liberated with in a week just like Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine
