    Nice work Javier. Have considered getting a nice set of exacto knives with blades and small chisels. Really helps with the fine detail work. Also consider a set of finer tooth files.

    Nice work and they look amazing! I have a pair of heels which are nude/taupe would it be easy to find a color match for the leather repair items? Just curious if the money invested in making repairs would come out as nice as the black heels.

      Hello, thanks! Saphir sells 41 colors on the cream I used in this video. Link below. You may have to try a few colors. I worked on a pair of light color shoes and it was more difficult to match than the black. Black is easier as you can't really go by the name of the cream, different brands might call the same name for colors that are not the same. This cream allows you to mix and match to create your own colors, although that would increase the cost as you'd need to buy various colors to create your palette . Have fun! www.amazon.com/Saphir-Renovating-Cream-Tube-Brown/dp/B002A980RY/ref=sr_1_10?crid=1J834TI8A5LCI&keywords=saphir%2Brenovateur%2Bsuede%2B%26%2Bnubuck%2Bconditioning%2Bspray%2Bblack&qid=1655184891&sprefix=saphir%2Brenovat%2Caps%2C122&sr=8-10&th=1

    Hello sir, I have had to throw so many heels because of the accidental scuffs on them. I haven't been able to find anyone to repair them for me. I am so glad to have found your videos. The issue is I am from India and I am not gonna be able to find these products here. I am talking about napa leather (cow to be specific) here. If you could help me with some alternatives because I just got new scuff marks on my new heels and I don't wanna throw them because I have worn them once. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello! I was wondering you had any recommendations for the inside of shoes that start to peel? I was thinking of sanding it down and repainting it with leather repair paint made for couches and things. The part that peels away is usually cheap material. Thank you!

    • @javiershobbies
      @javiershobbies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nikki. I've never tried doing something like that so can't really comment. In general there is leather paint and leather dye. The dye gets absorbed, the paint stays on the surface. Only question I would have on those couch repair products is that it looks like a paint and wonder if it will allow the insole to breathe. If you do go for it please let me know how it works out! thanks

    Great job. You make it look so easy! What do you do when it isn’t your basic black? I have a red pair.
    I didn’t know this method. I read that you could use the leather conditioner to soften the leather and work/stretch it back into its original shape and then glue it back down. It actually turned out pretty well for not knowing what I was doing but your method looks more reasonable and mine now seems like a complete DIYer’s poor man’s hack. Using sandpaper scares me a bit but it seemed to work perfectly for you! I will need to watch more videos to find out the grit and all the creams and fillers you use. You certainly know your stuff! I am just confused on how to handle colors. I mentioned red. There are so many shades and hues! I am lost! Any suggestions.
    Also, switching from heel fixes, how do you know what the upper is made of when there is not label on the inside that gives info. I used leather conditioning cream on what I thought was leather and it seems to have made them very vulnerable and almost so soft I am scared if I even look at them too long, the material will disintegrate. I feel I have made an irreversible mistake. Any suggestions?

      @javiershobbies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Amanda! Sorry for the poor video editing, I'm still leaning :) I have another video that shows the process a bit better :) To answer some of your questions; the grit was 800. Depending on how much there is to remove I sometimes start with 400 grit. The paste I used was Saphir Renovating cream and you can get that on Amazon. It comes on many colors. The pastes are mixable so you can make additional hue combinations if they don't have what you need. I had to repair a pair of burgundy shoes I accidentally sanded on the side (ouch) and I bought their red and mixed with the black to deepen the color and that worked out well for me. Depending on your color you may have to play a bit more.
      As far as leather conditioner affecting a shoe so much, this is the first time I hear of something like this. I've used leather conditioner to soften genuine leather boots that were super stiff brand new so I put some and it became softer, which is what I wanted, but not to the point I thought they'd be compromised. If the shoes are not leather, they are usually "pleather" which is a contraction for plastic leather. Here is an article on how to spot the difference .www.modernandtribaldesigns.com/leather-vs-pleather-5-ways-spot-the-difference/?v=e4dd286dc7d7
      thanks for watching and your nice comment!

      Hi J WS. I like wet/dry sandpaper, but any sand paper would work. The grits I use most often are 60, 400, 800. For sanding the actual shoe leather I would not go any lower than 400. The 60 grit I use on the sole edge. Here are some sample sandpapers you may want to check out. 400 wet/dry www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Imperial-Wetordry-3-2-3-in-x-9-in-400-Grit-Silicon-Carbide-Sandpaper-10-Sheets-Pack-5920-18-CC/202563279
      This one is 800: www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Imperial-Wetordry-3-2-3-in-x-9-in-800-Grit-Sandpaper-Sheets-10-Sheets-Pack-5922-18-CC/202563281
      This one is 60 grit. www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Garnet-3-2-3-in-x-9-in-60-Grit-Coarse-Grade-Sandpaper-5-Sheets-Pack-19038-20-CC/202563278www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Garnet-3-2-3-in-x-9-in-60-Grit-Coarse-Grade-Sandpaper-5-Sheets-Pack-19038-20-CC/202563278.
      Start light, you can always sand more, but can't put leather back :) Have fun!
