Amazing stuff. You wait 10 minutes and then can try and try and try and try and try and try to pull apart but can't but can simply wipe off excess squeeze out while mixture in container still hasn't hardened. Simply amazing.
I think it’s good to know. I had a lot of styrofoam around the house. I just threw it out. In case of an emergency I know what how to fix my old shoes. Thanks!
Excellent! I usually use Shoe Goo, but it's expensive, and we don't have $2 shops here. Its probably a better adhesive than the manufacturer's adhesive. But put the shoe in the sun for a few hours to get rid of residual gasoline. The feet are very sensitive to chemicals.
According to Barbara O'Neill the pores in the feet are large, and allow absorbtion of chemicals more easily than many parts of the skin - she uses that fact to heal with home remedies that involve putting a pack against the sole of the foot. So it's important to keep toxic chemicals away from the bottom of the feet. So natural materials eg cork, leather for soles are better than plastic...
A better and safer alternative is to use acetone instead of gasoline. Acetone is a relatively non-polar solvent (as compared to water, which is highly polar), and Styrofoam is made from polystyrene and foam. Due to their similar polarities, acetone can dissolve the carbon-hydrogen bonds of Styrofoam. Acetone evaporates very quickly and leaves no smell or residue like gasoline does.
@@洪明正-t5t Acetone is a very common solvent (in the house, it is "nail polish remover) and it can be found at hardware stores, or usually online, such as on Taobao in China, or Lazada in Thailand, or Shopee in most other places in Asia.

Just use Rubber Cement. Any two bit Dollar store had them. Much cheaper and cleaner. It's what shoe factories use to stick these together. Much cheaper than litre of gasoline.
Great work. Opens up a lot of possibilities - conversion of styrofoam into glue. Looks better than Dendrite. I 'll try it out myself. Have collected a good amount of Styrofoam. Thanks for the video.😢
I would love to try this gum. Canbit be used in filling up the gap between the sink and the tile aroung it? What can done with the excess gum. How to dispose of it.? Which worries me. Pl suggest
...during the 90's my grandmother teach me to use it but not in shoes...we use it at our roof to cover holes use it like sealant...but now you give me another way to use it as a shoe glue thanks...
why did the applied solution dry and adhere yet the stuff in the improvised mixing container not only didnt dry but was able to be used on another repair about 10min. later with no cover exposed to the air the whole time? can someone explain this to me please?
This polystrene adhesive looks interesting, esp if it remains flexible. And it looks like it can fill in gaps were other adhesives cannot. A very good contact adhesive is Rennia Colle de Cologne. This was recommended by a person working at a VA hospital making custom fitted orthotic shoes because it was the most durable. I found that to be very good advice.
It's a lot cheaper. I tried this with petroleum and it didn't work for me, the styrofoam didn't dissolve it only got a bit soft. Then I bought acetone which melts the styrofoam but it stays like a stringy gummy fluid it doesn't become creamy like this one here
@bearfoot561 I just purchased shoe glue just a few days ago. The name of the glue I bought is "Shoe Goo." We have used it several times in the past. It works quite well. I live in a small town with limited stores. I was still able to find it in Fred Meyer, which is owned by Kroger. Our local Walmart carries it in store, as do; Joann fabric and crafts, Hobby Lobby, Home Depot, Sportsman's Warehouse, and Michael's craft store. Each of the stores I've listed also sells Shoe Goo through their website.
@@bearfoot561- It's called Rubber Cement. Any two bit Dollar store had them. Much cheaper and cleaner. It's what shoe factories use to stick these together. Much cheaper than litre of gasoline.
Yes you can but you will need a heat gun or something. You will have to melt Styrofoam naturally. Because if you use a chemical to try this. It will only dissolve your Styrofoam box.
be aware to keep it far from fire / ignition.. the Styrofoam/ gasoline mixture can burn and stick to anything.. especiaIIy if you use acetone instead of gasoline .
It would be interesting to know how long this repair might last !? Putting the glue where it's needed could be neater ; faster; and more simple if the glue was poured out of the plastic bottle bottom into something like a old fashioned plastic ketchup squeeze bottle with the long slender tapered nozzle ! 😊
So... After 10 minutes the stuff on the outside is runny and can be wiped away while simultaneously the stuff inside has "set"? Amazing how the inside stuff new to set while the outside stuff stayed runny so it could be wiped away.
Very good. Secret of the cobblers. But is that not the same as applying gorilla glue. Granted the finish you applied is more than the average person would even know.

Your method is very effective. I have followed it and it is very economical. Thanks for sharing.
Disadvantage of using this "plastic" as glue: it becomes rock resin and will therefore break in shoes.
Economical are you serious? That's hazardous and too much effort to do.
Buy shoe/super glue and that's fixed under a MINUTE!!
We been using that for so long

Neatly done ☑️!!
The sole will become stiff once the improvised glue dries up, its not like rubber cement that is flexible. Just my thoughts.

its gasoline not water
The excess gas in the mixture keeps it usable till it evaporates. He spooned the melted foam out draining off excess liquid allowing it to harden.

Just how long do you have to keep pulling to demonstrate how adhesive it is! We get it.

Any specific grade or type of gasoline?
It will work on any type of gasoline. You can also use those those instant glue or cyanoacrylate, lacquer thinner and pvc cement.
@@Csarmb98 we can use PVC glue as a substitute?
Wow excellent 👍🏿🙏🏾
Can this mixture be restored for future use and how
Nope, but you can use it to patch holes on your roof.
What if you used acetone or spirit instead of gasoline? Will it work?
Acetone does work also. You can make this same glue with either acetone or gasoline. Both chemicals dissolve it really well.
Пробовал растворять в ацетоне = масса ни к чему не липнет и почему то серого цвета. Как "воздушный" детский пластилин.
Acetone dissolves plastic too. It comes in metal cans in the paint department. Probably safer to keep on hand than gasoline. Less smelly too.
@@Carol120454 it don't dissolve all plastic though. Because it sometimes comes in plastic containers too.
