The Paphiopedilum Garden was quite a pretty project which you can see here th-cam.com/video/mEvNRYTnJr0/w-d-xo.html But it's not the most comfortable thing to display, plus one of the Orchids needs some saving 😬
Paphs are my absolute favorite orchids. some of the more complex hybrids are just so hardy and forgiving that no other genera comes even close. I had a pretty rough patch in my life, lasting a couple of years, where I absolutely abused my poor orchids and my paph 'white lady' just sat there for three years straight, doing nothing, dropped a single leaf and when I got a hold of myself she produced a flower spike within the month and I would just sit there staring at her for at least 15 minutes multiple times a day every day. Almost all of my collection died during that time, but not a single one of my paphs even complained. They now hold an honorary position right in the middle of my collection and while yes, they might not bloom often, when they do, it's the most rewarding feeling I know.
Didn't notice a lighting problem at all. Attractive foliage is a plus, that's what many of us who have tried Orchids get to see all of the time. A non Orchid issue, some people try that hair color and can't pull it off, you rock it!
I have 3 slippers. One I got in bloom. They are growing new fans, but haven’t bloomed yet. A couple of them are compact ones, and one has a pinkish flower. Can’t wait to see that one bloom!! We’ll see how long it takes.
The crown rot is sad, but things happen 🙁 Glad you were able to save it! Just watched the garden making video and it's a good thing the Venustum was larger since it almost ended up in the rot spot. I guess I'm more of a foliage person since I mainly have succulents? I'm not too fond of the green leafy plants though. I didn't have orchids and African violets for awhile since I wasn't confident they'd rebloom in my care 😅 The lighting was fine to me :)
Hi Danni! The lighting looked good to me (and I do photography/videography) maybe just a tiny bit of shadow but I didn’t even notice until you said something.😊. I am also a flower lover as well. And while I absolutely LOVE paph flowers and the mottled leaf ones, I just don’t seem to do as well with them so they are not nearly as satisfying. The lack of fragrance also contributes to my hesitation to collect them. Thank you for the wonderful info in this video. And as always, it is very reassuring to see that even someone with your advanced experience and knowledge isn’t always 100% successful. Love your channel!
Hello, how are you? I'm new to orchids and I would like to have some super fragrant ones, as I saw in one of your videos. I live in the Canary Islands, and I don't know how to buy or where, and I would appreciate your information on recommended species and sites. where they can send me to the Canary Islands. Greetings!

Paphs are my favorite to grow. 😊
Love the hair! And, of course, like the video.👏
When I have orchids that flower every year I get sick of them and want to give them away. A paph I see every two years is special and worth the wait.
I Love your hair color omg
Hi Danny, I didn't even notice that you didn't have the extra lights on. The video looks good.
BTW, Great content!

Definitely a paph orchid person! Becoming a collector… they are taking over
I do like to hear about your problems and how to try to fix them. Things aren't always rosie 😄
Enjoyed the video very much. Thank you.
More slippers please ❤❤❤❤🎉

That is a beautiful bloom, but I agree they do grow kind of slow. The wait is too long for me!
And how much humidity do they need?
What's in the potting mix you're using for your slippers?
Do you have the recipe mix for phaps
Danny when do you water your slippers please thank you

Unearthed...?
should you plant paphiopedilums on their sides like phaleanopsis or straight up like a normal houseplant? x
I would say straight up because they are terrestrial (grows on the ground) not epiphytic (grows on trees.)
@@baltschoolofdance oh ok, thank you xx
@@citizenoffloptropica you’re welcome!
