When you get close to a subject in fog irl, it fades away anyway. So if you have a camera moving towards one of the surfaces, it'd probably be best to just fade the texture as it comes in. Hope that helps 👍
Thats actually a pretty neat way to do the fog, I might actually use that for large scale scenes in blender. Though if you want to make the fog nice and volumetric while at the ground level you can probably do something with some particles with a noise texture that always point towards the camera and fades when the camera moves closer (fairly certain thats actually how games make volumetric fog), no idea how to do it in mineimator, but it could also be a good idea for a tutorial if you figure it out.
@@SharpWind Ah ok, I don't really know how particles in mineimator works, though if you want some reference for how it can look like when you use that method you can search up "Skyrim Supreme and Volumetric Fog (Non-ENB)" as that video shows it pretty well, again not that I really know if it would actually work in mineimator but oh well, it might be worth a shot to try and see if its possible to replicate that look, as it does look pretty nice
hey i know this isnt related to the video but whenever i try to only render glow it just makes the object disappears and the glow effect isn't there can you help fix this problem?
Hd render the image If you tick on glow and only render glow, you need to turn on HD rendering to see the result (click the bottom right icon or press F5)
PNG textures are bad. Mine-Imator users : Hold my cube. Sharp, I have an idea, how about you put the fog texture in an item sheet so that it is 3d, then you can fiddle with the Y scale of the fog item. There will be no layers, just a 3d fog item sheet with the fog texture. Make it glow and only render glow and fiddle with the glow colour until you get desirable results. Also enable show backfaces. Also, when the camera moves into the fog, decrease the alpa value. Here is my project file for more details. drive.google.com/open?id=1B7_hOaCcyifzTzvNQTEo_XPvlmg56CBv
"Its free and a lot of fun" .... a friend got banned after being kind of picked on cause of his dead 66k yt chanel by someone :/ if thats fun idk ... its hell 2.0 next to the MI one

Damn! If you made this tutorial 2 days earlier, my alpine mountain wallpaper could have been a success!
Not your fault, sharp.
re-creation? mabye?
Haha, good one.
Fine, I will re-create it.
Maybe as the camera gets closer to each layer the alpha slowly goes down
that's one way to do it, and the NEXT layer gets alpha up, that's a good idea
Thank you sooooooo much sharp! you literally helped me make smoke for a revolver, thank you so much, I literally can't stop saying it.

if i were to use particles, the fog would be moving constantly, which i don't really want
i've thought of that option too

Thanks this vid I can animate my Christmas vid
Use show back faces for the cube or just use a plain with show back faces
4:11 just turn on show backfaces i think?
Merry Christmas!
Merry christmas!
Shaggy is the new Host.
You could make the cube show backfaces. That way if you go inside the fog it will not disapear
it'd be floating
not really convenient
Really helpful! I'm still trying to figure out how I can use composite masking to add multiple layers of fog through multiple black/white exports.
Try turning on show backfaces
That would just make the fog appear floating once you get inside
so cool tutorial
Very nice! I really like the thumbnail by the way :P
Noobs are soft
Pros are medium
But legends are sharp
Is it doesn't work ? if you duplicate the layer and give invert on the layer...?
Thank you SharpWind. Keep going dude
you've got it!
Ok
"See my point"

Some people: Kinda
Animators: Yeah (Helps out a lot)
Me: *For hell sure I do*
Thank for tutorial
How about you active the show backfaces of the cube?
Also have you done the systm's next episode
i think u can turn on Show Backfaces for the fog to fix it
wouldn't i just get a floating fog pattern if i go beneath it?
you can probably use some smoke effects with an outside program for it
i know, the point is 100% mine imator
@@SharpWind i know you were trying to go with 100% MI, but you think you can do this along with something else
most people can't use AE or other softwares, that's why i'm trying :P
i have no problem using them myself
ur back :D
i never really left, my uploads just slowed down bc of college :/
Does show back faces work?
May be we can make many small cubes in different places and make camera movement not get into one of this cubes
Honestly, thats a lot of work :p
That map is really awesome!!
Do you have a link for that or something?
I found it on planetminecraft
SharpWind Ok, thanks 👍
have u tried inverting the cube?
Yeah, it floats
I think the best option would be to put the planes in 3D space
Merry christmas...
😆😆😆😄😄
how did you import that village sent me pls pls
because im gonna use that village to my animations
Nice video, hello from france
Good evening, France! Hope you're enjoying the video
oooooooooo cool
Да The Christmas hat is back!!!
The december spirit is strong!
Is the show backfaces option removed?
No, i just dont like the effect

Would it be fixed by inverting the cube ?
Can't use MI for now on a trip to understand why I'm saying this.
Inverting it would only make the fog appear floating once you get inside
@@SharpWind ohh
You even fix it by turning on show backface in the Hierchy because i cànt
spell this word
That would make the fog appear floating when you get on the inside
maybe make a billion 2d planes with the fog texture :/
That just calls for a crash
Yeah probably
I'm eating oreos while watching this
oh, damn you
now i want oreos...
It may not work but I was thinking maybe the fog must be on the camera.
Perhaps its a way
Try the plane instead and duplicate then turn it upside down
That would make it appear to be flat in the air (visible from both sides)
also not really the best "fog" setup
oh no, nvm ive submitted my priate collab part with this idea sorry Xd
Map? :^
i found it online a while ago
